Martin Luther King Jr. Was Martin Luther king Jr.’s dream realized? People have many different opinions about it. I believe that his dream was realized. There are many reason s for this. Some of my main ones are as followed. One of my reasons is people are allowed to use them same items and areas. Like bathrooms. People of multiple races are allowed to use the same bathrooms. Another is restaurants. People of color and white people share restaurants, bars and even sit in the same booths. Also there is combination in schools. You just don’t see it very often because of where people choose to reproduce. Also, many races work together in the same environment. The work environment is combined in many ways. Also, employment rates for African
Many African Americans are unemployed in the South. However, since whites have priority over the job market than African Americans, it’s harder for them to get a job. African Americans started to move to the North to search, but little difference did it make. Many took the position as janitors, street cleaners, and domestic servants. Mexican American and Chinese American were no better off, whites started to take over those jobs for Mexican and Chinese American.
For these reasons, I believe that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is successful in his intended purpose. Although he did not personally witness the triumph of the Civil Rights Movement due to his ironic assassination (ironic considering he talks about the longevity of life on the eve of this assassination), Dr. Martin Luther King’s use of rhetoric in his I Have a Dream and I’ve Been to the Mountaintop speeches changed the course of history and moved America forward in regards to race relations.
Martin Luther King's' speech "I have a dream" showed that no matter race, beliefs or gender, people can improve their destiny. Through determination, Martin Luther King and his followers managed to make the American dream more attainable for millions of black Americans. The American dream consists of having equal access to opportunities for economic prosperity through hard work. This belief was incredibly important, during the novel's times Of Mice and Men, as farmers abandoned their land, due to natural disasters in the dust bowl, and moved to California to pursue their dream. This also affects the characters Crooks, Curley's wife and George. In his novel, John Steinbeck

In Martin Luther King entitled, I Have a Dream speech compared to Bernie Sanders entitled, presidential speech have a controversial issues that is being raised in a rhetorical manner. “Rhetoric is the art of ruling the minds of men” (Plato). This is part of the theme in both Martin Luther King and Bernie Sanders speeches. Using Rhetoric, it does not only influence the words, but also the audience. Martin Luther King and Bernie Sanders are both great inspirational leaders that want their audience to hear their voices. Martin Luther King is a civil right activist that is for the people from wanting equal rights. He wants the blacks and whites to come together and end segregation and non-violence. Bernie Sanders is a democratic socialist that
Institutions in the businesses sector are swarming in racial discrimination, much of which is covert and difficult to detect and prove. Racial discrimination excludes, marginalizes and exploits those citizens who are discriminated against, ceasing any opportunity for economic progress and development. Under certain regulations some businesses are required to diversify their workplace by hiring certain amounts of people of color, but in reality these small quotas do not do much for the overall condition of the people who are being discriminated against. Businesses that fail to take action on racial discrimination tend to have lower levels of productivity. This stems from employees not being interested in working hard, or because people with exceptional talents and skills choose to shy away from certain places of employment due to the fear of racial discrimination. Employees who feel wronged also tend to switch jobs, forcing the organization to spend more time and resources on hiring and training new employees, besides coping with the low productivity of a new employee. (Nayab)The effects of racial discrimination in the American work force could be identified with funded research on the topic. With ample data employers will be able to better understand the negative affects that racial discrimination have
Martin Luther King did not know that his “I Have a Dream” speech would still be iconic 50 years later. In 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. delivered the “I Have a Dream” speech at the March on Washington. He was facing the problem of racial injustice for himself and everyone like him. He needed to create a speech that everyone could and would understand, could learn from, and could draw inspiration from. He had to address blacks and whites, he had to say things that everyone could relate to and he had speak in a way that he get the
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s, “I Have a Dream” speech states that Blacks were denied their equal rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (I Have a Dream). The Emancipation Proclamation, written by Abraham Lincoln, supposedly freed all slaves, but Blacks were still treated with disrespect. Blacks needed to have equal rights because they were mistreated, criticized, and they wanted their respect.

Decreasing the disparity among whites and people of color eventually leads to higher productivity, stronger work ethic, and better team functioning. “Diversity enhances and affects group performance in diverse teams” (Van Dijk, et. al., 2013). As stated by researchers Winfred Arthur, Jr. and Dennis Doverspike, to have a diverse and successful working environment, employers and business leaders should work on limiting the role they play in privilege and accept more applicants from minority backgrounds (2005). According to researchers at the Texas A&M University and the University of
Nearly three centuries ago, black men and women from Africa were brought to America and put into slavery. They were treated more cruelly in the United States than in any other country that had practiced slavery. African Americans didn’t gain their freedom until after the Civil War, nearly one-hundred years later. Even though African Americans were freed and the constitution was amended to guarantee racial equality, they were still not treated the same as whites and were thought of as second class citizens. One man had the right idea on how to change America, Martin Luther King Jr. had the best philosophy for advancing civil rights, he preached nonviolence to express the need for change in America and he united both African Americans and whites together to fight for economic and social equality.
Dr. Martin Luther King lived in a time of Racial Segregation. He grew up with people scorning him simply because of the color of his skin. When he began a family of his own, he had the dream that life should be better than he had it. He marched protests and gave speeches, speaking his dream to everyone who would listen. His most famous speech being the “ I have a dream speech… ”. This speech spoke of his dream that all men were equal whether they were white, or black, or any other color of skin. That was his American Dream.
Blacks look for jobs longer and sometimes more aggressively than whites do and they are 44% less likely to get hired for the job even when they are just as qualified. Today they have a law that jobs cannot discriminate on who to hire just because of their race or ethnicity, and even though that’s a law some jobs still discriminate, they just use a different reason for why they could not hire you. Other races have heard so many stereotypes and stories about African Americans and they also grew up being taught certain beliefs which become part of the economy.
Even though we live in such a civilized country, there is still segregation. In the documentary “Prom Night” there were two separate proms for whites and colored folk up until 2008 (“Prom Night in Mississippi” n. pag.). While segregation is considered unsophisticated, it is still a problem in the U.S.. In Milwaukee, Waukesha, and West Allis, Wisconsin, over half of the population lives in a zip code where at least four fifths of the residents have the same ethnicity (Kent and Frohlich n. Pag. ). Despite the fact that we are a very morally developed country we still try to separate ourselves from others because we think we are the better
