When most people think of moral courage, they think of Someone that has a lot of courage or advanced more than what we think of courage to stand up for what they thought was wrong. One person will be described as having moral courage and that person Is Rev.Martin Luther King Jr.He fought for colored people to be treated just like the whites. Martin was one of many people who were involved with the Montgomery Boycott.Including Rosa Parks that was the reason he was involved because she didn’t want to give up a seat to a white women.Martin Luther King Jr was a son to a pastor and his father told him to fight for what was right. He will always be that person that everyone saw as the man that had the guts to stand up and the man that has been a model for blacks for ever. In conclusion,When you think of a moral courage person think of MLk he had to do what he had to because he thought he could change the world which he did for most of the people that are different colors. He was also was the person that had all the courage to do for his people.Martin is good person to show moral courage. He had all the people of the same color coming together and stand up for themselves which should have been done before Martin came in the picture because color does not matter any more.The text is important because who else would do what martin did, you can't because they are all focused on themselves and not the others that need help through thick and thin.it is also is important because he was the reason that we have people going on the same school not black and whites separated.
Courage is when you know you’re beaten. The character Atticus, for instance, who was a seasoned lawyer acted courageous defending Tom Robinson. Tom Robinson was a black man who was accused of raping a white girl. Atticus was appointed to defend him. Jem was happy because he thought his father had won the case but Reverend Sykes loathed telling Jem “Now don’t you be so confident, Mr. Jem, I ain’t ever seen any jury decide in favor of a colored man over a white man…”(Lee 208). Atticus was sure he wasn’t going to win the case, nevertheless he gave it a try. That didn’t stop Atticus from trying to defend his client Tom Robinson. Another part in the novel when Atticus was courageous was when he shot at the man street dog. Heck Tate the Maycomb Sheriff was not as courageous as Atticus so he handed Atticus the air rifles and with one shot Atticus took down the street dog. Miss Maudie says “I saw that, One Shot Finch” (Lee 97). Atticus was referred to as one-shot finch because of his shooting skills. The other incidence in the novel when Atticus portrays courage was when he was not scared when Bob Ewell threatened him. Bob Ewell was the man who accused Atticus’ defendant Tom Robinson of raping his daughter Mayella. Courage is not something that we are born with, it is a skill that takes time to learn and only a few are lucky enough to have it. To Kill a Mockingbird is not only about life in a world full of hate, it is about standing up for anyone’s beliefs being brave enough to do it. In this story, Harper Lee says “Courage is not a man with a gun in his hand. It's knowing you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. Everyone is born with some form of courage. The question is, in their lifetime, will they choose to use it and grow from it? Recent studies of him emphasize the extent to which his ideals were rooted in African-American religious traditions which were then shaped by his education. The image of a social activist and leader was the result of extensive formal education, strong personal values and licit ethics. This excellence in leadership can be traced to his character which is shaped by his moral values and personality. We look at MLK and these traits to reveal the rationalization of his rise to transracial leadership in our society. Through studying the life and example of Martin Luther King, Jr., we learn that his moral values of integrity, love, truth, fairness, caring, non-violence, achievement and peace were what motivated him. King is not great because he is well known, he is great because he served as the cause of peace and justice for all humans. King is remembered for his humanity, leadership and his love of his fellow man regardless of skin color. This presence of strong moral values developed King’s character which enabled him to become one of the most influential leaders of our time. Integrity is a central value in a leader’s character and it is through integrity that King had vision of the truth. The truth that one day this nation would live up to the creed, "all men are created equal". No man contributed more to the great progress of blacks during the 1950’s and 1960’s than Martin Luther King, Jr. He was brought up believing "one man can make a difference", and this is just what he did. Integrity has a large effect on what we think, say and do, it is through King’s thoughts and actions that enabled so many people to have trust and faith in him. Through King’s integrity he believed that America, the most powerful and richest nation in the world will lead the way to a revolution of values. This revolution will change the way society views itself, shifting from a "thing-orientated" society to a "person-orientated" society. When this occurs, King believed that racism will be capable of being conquered and this nation will be "Free at last." King’s unconditional love for all humans was another value that strongly influenced his character and allowed him to have such excellent leadership ability.

Growing up in the south during the civil right movement between the late fifties and early sixties as an African American was tough. As a black person you went through a lot of racial profiling, discrimination and of course racism throughout the south just because they wanted a change and was tired of being miss treated by the whites. Superiority meant a lot to the whites so; they were not going to allow the blacks to take over in any kind of way. So, blacks and people known as the minorities took their chances to try to make a change because their rights were not be protected as in the first Amendment said it would. Many people were threatened, beaten and harassed by a group known as Ku Klux Klan trying to fight for what was right like voting privilege. Although, they struggled to get their voice heard it was worth the probable cause even if that meant putting their life in danger.
