Ancient Greece: The Most Impactful Empire in History Which empire has had more of an impact, Ancient Greece or the Roman Empire? One could argue that the Roman Empire is more impactful than Ancient Greece because the Roman Empire only improved upon the ideas of Ancient Greece. If Ancient Greece had not created the original ideas than the Roman Empire would be a forgotten empire in world history. The Ancient Greeks were the first to invent democracy which is a system of government in which people vote and elect legislative bodies to create laws and make decisions on the behalf of people. Without this creation of democracy the world would look rather differently today, and the government of the United States might look drastically different from what it does now. However, what exact influence did the Ancient Athens democracy have on the United States’ democracy? Beau Harmon, wrote in an article “Athenian democracy of Ancient Greece was divided into the Ekklesia, which was similar to the legislative, or lawmaking branch, the Boule, which resembled the executive, or law-enforcing branch, and the Dikasteria, a rough equivalent of the judicial branch”. Which pretty much exercises the fact of they made the head of the government. According the Webster’s Dictionary the definition of geometry is, “a branch of mathematics that deals with the measurement, properties, and relationships of points, lines, angles, surfaces, and solids” (Webster).
It was the Ancient Greeks to first invent this field of mathematics and it has had drastic influences on the world today because without it many of the buildings and architecture around the world could not be built.One could find it hard to build without no mathics, if one doesn’t have the mathics involved with building a strong base for the military, It will not and can’t stand a blast from enemy fire. The Greek Democracy was very simple on how they changed over time to fit the people. The governments from the two empires were design for the people. Though the Roman government was based off of the Greek Democracy they had more additions to the government than the Greek did. The formation of the Roman republican government influenced directly by the ideology of a Greek democracy because of the similar style in the power to the people such as elections, people participating in the government, and the citizens’ rights.

We can relate to Greece in many ways, with the alphabet and architecture. “Many modern public buildings are modeled after Greek Temples” (Lassiuer). Government was also strongly influenced by Ancient Greece, the democracy was very popular and it eventually spread to the US and was even used by our Founding Fathers (Lassieur).
