How does culture connect/disconnect us? There are 251 babies born each minute, and 361,481 born each day worldwide. Everyone of those babies will be born into a certain culture. Cultures vary throughout the world, such as Americans eating 18 acres of pizza a day on average and that 250 out of the 450 different cheeses come from France. How does culture connect or disconnect us? Language, religion, and music are all huge parts of cultre, and they all disconnect and connect us. These cultural aspects can be found anywhere around the world. Everywhere in the world, language is spoken. Language can connect us, but it can also completely disconnect us. Speaking the same language automatically

Religion can connect us peacefully, and sometimes can disconnect us vioently. For example the religion of Islam all meet for the hajj, which connects people from all over the world because of shared beliefs. Religious connection, is usually a very deep one, because most of the people dedicate their time and life values for this religion. Religion also gives oppurtunities to have something in common with one another, and that common ground can be found throughout the world, because religion is not just only in one place usually. Although religion gives us such a strong connection culturally, it can also give us a deep disconnection.Religion has been known to make people do violent things in some cases for example the crusades the killed milllions of people because of the religion the believed in.Although that is a little darastic religion can cause tension between people and even sometimes can cause people to not be able to talk at all. Another example is how the Nazis killed and put the Jews in concentration camps, this obviously disconnected people from eachothr because of religion, which is a main part of culture. Religion is a huge aspect of culture, but another interesting aspect is …show more content…
Music helps you get over that ex, getting another rep in at the gym, the perfect start to that party, or a peaceful beginnig to sleep. Not many things can change your mood so easily, music can sometimes bethe first thing to connect someone. Considering music can help people through rough times if another person likes the same music you automatically have a connection that not many will understand. That passion for music can not only connect you, it can disconnect you. This disconnection might not be as strong as some others such as religion or language, but it still a disconnection. Music gives you a way to connect with someone on a special way, but if that other person does not have the same interest that connection can be lost. You may never be able to have a connection because you don 't have music to automatically give you things in common. Overalll music gives a connection that many other cultural aspects cannot give. Music, religion, and language are all parts of culuture that disconnect and connect
I think music has a way of explaining something or telling a story. Music can bring up happy times, it can also bring up sad times as well. Certain songs can remind someone of troubling issues from a past, can be the reminder of someone you have lost, it can also be a reminder of many happy times; such as weddings, high school dances, or even just hanging out with friends in the back
Since the earliest days of human civilization music has been a key tool for communication of stories which carried emotions through them. If we think back to our youngest years of life music has surrounded us whether it was from our parents singing us lullabies or from some sort of toy that played music we can say that musical melodies have helped shape or lives one way or another. Once we start growing up and figuring out who we are our musical preferences change; some people like classical and some like punk. We start to befriend people who like the same music as us and eventually we may attend a musical event. Our lives somewhat revolve around the music that we listen to.
A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and souls of its people. Many countries have been influenced by various things such as immigration, media, news, as well as trends and fads from both in and out of the country. However, in the 1950s and 1960s, there was mainly news and word of mouth. Many had argued that Canada should establish its own culture to have an identity separate, later growing into a concern of the government. Most would think that the cultural influence was negative as the influences of other countries would take away from the country’s own culture and identity, but it was not the case. The influence of American culture in the 1950s and 1960s in Canada was positive. American music, Hippie culture, and the impact the American
Religion brings hope and duty, the promise of salvation and its believers follow for those reasons along with many others. Throughout the world you see many differences in religion and the rules they are based upon; in our book they are separated between eastern and western religions, each with their own fundamental background and basis. Religion gives people a higher power to believe in that they are protected if they follow the will of their gods. The differences seen are major division between religions but their similarities are what make the common ground for religion possible and the ties that hold our societies
One tradition that has made every country different is its culture. A culture represents and creates the country’s history and traditions. From the hard working environment in China to the laid-back lifestyle in America, these are some examples of unique cultures. Even with different cultures, travelers can experience the hardships that occur when traveling. One article “ Adventure of a lifetime” demonstrated these difficulties when a family moved from America to Peru and their struggles during their transition. During their stay, Lawrence and her children experienced new ideas that were different from America. Some complex situation that arises while making a step in their new culture is the adjustment to the new environment and the language
Music is used in a variety of different ways. Some are very simple and logical, many others are creative and complex. Music is used to give emphasis to movies and advertisements, commercials and TV shows. Music is also used to express feelings and to communicate ideas and thoughts, without the barrier of language. People who cannot understand a language, can respond to music by singing, dancing, beating on a drum, in whatever way; people respond to music, and they like it (Weiss). A song may mean totally different things to different people with their own preferences and cultures. Show a popular piece of music to two different people and without a doubt, their interpretations and views of the song will almost never be exactly the same (if you need more sources this would be an EASY one to find a quote/reference to). The same song in the U.S. may be interpreted the same way in Germany, or Japan, or it may be interpreted in a different way. This is the great thing about music it is all relative to one’s personal views and preferences. Meaning that music is the universal language to speak with and through, allowing for the ultimate tool to both express feelings and to interpret other’s feelings. One more use of music, and possibly one of the most underutilized ways is to heal. Musical healing has been used for millennia with positive results. (Again…it would be super easy to pop a date in here and reference a source). Utilized by the very first shamans who practiced the change in consciousness to make contact with the spiritual realm. Music therapy has healed wounds both physical and mental and has been proven effective against many forms of diseases (Reiser). In Ancient Egypt, physicians sang scripture in curative tones. In addition, religion affects culture in different ways, in positive and negative ways. Religion is helpful to our society because it gives a number of different ways to worship things we believe are good for us. Many people have their own beliefs, religion causes us to follow one that one religion that we think is right. Society in the United States allows for religions to respectfully practice what they believe or believe, which is ironic since some countries don't allow their people to pick the religion they wish to follow. However, religion affects culture in positive ways, there are also negative ways as well. Given that our country has so much freedom and beliefs to follow, that can cause for usual conflict. Some people believe they aren't getting fair treatment, and this can cause disturbance or trouble between certain denominations. Mostly these arguments are a result of ignorance on the part of people who are not open minded to ways different from their own. As long as people respect another’s beliefs, the positives can far outweigh the negatives.
The world we live in today has been shaped by the beliefs systems that were used to govern, growing societies. Religion is connected to government in every culture across the globe. It is how the laws are made and it is the model used to determine what is considered acceptable behavior or morally right and wrong.
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
Culture is what makes every person unique; sometimes culture can be the reason one lives. By having commonalities and shared traditions, humans can bond with one another and create a feeling of community and comfort. Having similarities with others makes friendship and love form. However, culture is also a way that humans be different from one another. In the 21st century, individuality has become cherished. Every person can look
Music is that one friend that will always be there and will never judge us. It changes and has a huge impact on lives tremendously. There will always be that one song that can make a person get up and go. Sometimes, when we are sick it helps to take away some of the sorrow, pain, and it comforts us the best way it can. (White)
Having music in your life is very important. Music is one of the most powerful things in the world today. Many people make a lot of money making music because of its popularity. It may not be the same genre of music, but everybody likes it. Personally music helps me from day to day. When I am stressed I listen to it to calm me down. When I am sad I listen to it to make me happy. When my spirit is down I listen to gospel to bring it back up. Without music I do not know what I would do. I believe that there is music for every person and problem they may have. It helps me, and I know it will help
Music is one of the few things that has remained constant through the centuries this world has existed. Not only does music provide entertainment, it also has several effects linked to it. Music allows emotions of happiness and sadness to arise. From those emotions, physical effects, negative or positive, can occur. Music has a profound effect on the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical aspects of a person.
Music has always been a big part of my life. Music is not just a bunch of melodies, rhythms, and vibrant sounds. It is a comfort to me. The lyrics of a song challenge my intellect and the rhythms and beats affect my emotions. Music understands me when people don’t. At times it takes me back to an event in my life or even in history. Both consciously and subconsciously my mind remembers the emotions that are attached to a certain song. It can make me feel on top of the world or the complete opposite; music can change the atmosphere and also set the mood. Music has power over my human soul. It soothes it. I cannot imagine not having music to listen to. It is a powerful force and my love for it is incredible.
The role of music helps us in our lives through soul or unity. Music in our religion and country brings people together by having the same similarities. For example, each country has their own national anthem that all citizens of that country should know and be proud to sing. While different religions have the same songs worldwide which connects and unifies everyone within that religion. Furthermore, songs for the soul are songs through entertainment or rest. Everyone listens to songs that relate to them or they enjoy.
