The course to get there may not be easy, but when the rich feeling of obtaining a diploma is near, it is more than worth the time. My road to success with college may differ from the average student. See, I am currently enlisted in the United States Air Force. I decided that Computer Engineering was not what I wanted to do. I started searching online for colleges that allowed me to pursue my interest in aviation, I found that Northshore Community College offered a program in aviation. I started preparing, and taking courses at Middlesex Community College that may be transferred, and save time and money. In the fall of 2015, I transferred to NSCC for aviation management, while also doing flight training to get my private pilot's license. This decision has been one of the best ones I ever made because there is nothing better than doing what you have a passion for. At NSCC, I am part of the TRIO program, which it is a big help in the success of my education by tutoring me each semester, and helping me making the right decisions in my career. Recently, I have been awarded with a scholarship of the STEM, and in my flight training I will soon hold a private pilot license, which is a great success. One of the decisions many high school students confront is what they want to pursue in life; some options are work, study at a university, or pursue a technical education. Some students chose to study at a university to explore different areas of studies to pursue. Every area of study has its own requirements in order to be successful in that area. In my personal career search, as many students experience, have the sometimes painful selection of what I want to do as an adult. It is that I have two professions that I would like to pursue, Architecture and Engineering. Many aspects may help select that career, including personal preferences, career path, employment rates, etc. The academic path of each one will be discussed as a reference point for a selection of a career.
My childhood explains not only my personal goals for my education but also my professional life in the future. I’m Going to attend Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois the fall of 2016. This allows me to be able to come home, support my siblings and family when they need me. Getting a higher education, I aim to earn an internship as an Athletic Trainer or Sports Nutritionist through a sports team with Lewis. This will allow me to travel with the team for a goal that it will turn into a job opportunity. Determination and Applying short term SMART goals are the key to achieving a long term goal. In 5 – 10 years I see myself as Rutgers School of Engineering alumni, and an employee at Langan Environmental and Engineering Services. My long-term goal is graduate by May 2020 and starts my career as a Civil Engineer. I would like to work at the traffic department preparing due diligent studies and traffic impact statements. Working as a Civil Engineer will provide me with the opportunity of working on various types of projects that can help and advance many societies and communities. Being able to have such an impact on the community I live in is more satisfying than just earning a salary. As of now I am not sure if I would stay in the tri-state
How much has my life changed in the last few months? Coming from high school to college means a huge academic jump and a complete change in my life. Even though high school was my first academic experience in United States; my life in college is more complex than my life in high school was, especially when it comes to the classes’ structure, study routine, and free time enjoyment.
What’s great about college is meeting new people. People from all over Arkansas, older, younger, and everything in between. I am very happy to have met Taylor. She is a very bright, young, driven girl who has many hobbies, a supportive family, and goals to accomplish.

The plight of waking up at 5:30 in the morning is a small price to pay for an education. This is what I tell myself when the dreaded alarm goes off and the time comes to prepare for the school day. I may gripe. I may grumble. But deep down, I know that I wouldn't have it any other way. School is a means of self-improvement, an investment in one’s self. That being said, throughout my four years at Wake Forest anything can and will transpire, but on commencement day at Hearn Plaza, there is one thing that will be certain: I will be better than I was when I started.
