Playing baseball has had a very positive effect on my life. The game of baseball has taught me so many life lessons and I am grateful for that. Throughout my time playing baseball some of things I've learned are: patience, responsibility, respect, and teamwork. All of these aspects that I've learned have made me the person I am today.
Baseball is different from other sports in which the speed of the game is much slower compared to others. Patience is a life tool that baseball has tought me. Baseball brings patience through: extra innings, rain delays, and batting slumps. In today's world where everyone has the “I want it now attitude”, baseball teaches you that you have to have patience, dedication, and sometimes even a little luck. The patience that I've learned to have through baseball will continue to help me throughout my whole life.

Baseball has also tought so many people responsibility and I am lucky enough to be one those people. You have to be responsible for their actions and the errors you make out on that field and can't hold anyone else accountable, but yourself. There is nothing that bothers me more than hearing someone makes excuses for their errors or actions. I think I've learned that you just have to let those actions and errors go behind you and start over and forget about them.
I've had respect for my teammates, coaches, umpires, and everyone else who made it possible for me to play the game of baseball throughout my life. To be a successful player and even more importantly a successful team you and your team have to respect for each and every single person that put in the time and effort for you to be playing the game that you love. The respect that I've learned to give while playing baseball will a very helpful tool all through my
Baseball has been of the longest living sports in our world today. The game started with the idea of a stick and ball and now has become one of the most complex sports known in our society. Several rules and regulations have been added to help enhance the game for everyone. Although baseball has endured several issues during its history and development of the game the game has still been a success throughout the world.
It was believed that by watching baseball, youngsters would learn to be better people because they would begin to imitate the professionals who became their heroes. Baseball taught quick decision making skills, competitiveness, how to sacrifice for the team, as well as how to accept authority. Hugh Fullerton, a modern student of baseball at the time, spoke of his thoughts of baseball:
Baseball is fast-paced, intense, and requires coordination and skill, that is why it is the best sport to watch, play, or follow. Baseball isn’t a timed game; It is unpredictable and you never can guess what will happen next. This gives you a feeling of intensity and adrenaline. Another plus is that Baseball focuses on all skills. It focuses on Speed, Arm Strength, Power, Agility, Aim, Coordination, Timing, and Knowledge of the game. Also, another reason why baseball is the best sport is because while playing baseball you are less likely to
Baseball is known as America’s national pastime, and has been played for over 100 years. Baseball can be a lot of fun, but is also extremely challenging to play, especially trying to hit a 90 mile per hour fastball. I am a very devoted baseball player myself, and over the years I have learned numerous key things about the game. Baseball does not only require physical strength to hit and throw the ball, but it also requires a great mindset, such as, mental preparedness, concentration, and a positive attitude.
I spend six days per week for twelve months straight practicing catching, throwing, and hitting a softball. My friends call me crazy when I have to leave their house at ten o’clock on a Friday night to go play in a midnight madness softball tournament. They think I am insane for travelling to away, out-of-state tournaments each weekend. However, ten years of competitive, travel softball and nearly nine hundred games have molded me into the person I am today. Many people do not understand why I spend the majority of my time playing competitive softball, and they fail to recognize that my entire identity is a result of this sport. However, I am aware that I would not be who I am without it.
Baseball requires a great deal of heart. If you don't have heart, you simply cannot play the game of baseball. Baseball is a game where you really have to love the game in order to be successful and enjoy it. Love is almost the same way. If you don't understand how love works or you don't want it then how do you expect to become in love? “To be or not to be—that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles And, by opposing, end them” (3.1.64-68). This is when Hamlet loses his mind and cant control his emotions any longer. Baseball and love can also leave you heartbroken and worn down. As an example from Hamlet, he is incredibly frustrated with his situation and wants to fix it. Baseball is all about love and how badly you want to win. Being in love with baseball is the key so success but sometimes it can lave you heartbroken and worthless. “People who are truly in love tend to focus on the
Baseball has always been America’s natural past time. Many fans love watching baseball but do not realize how hard it is to prepare for a season. Most fans think the players just show up on the first day. I think this belief is completely false. I feel that preparing for a baseball season requires much preparation. The preparation I use includes working on my swing, working out, and studying other people’s ideas on hitting. These steps are necessary for me to have a successful season. These steps have proven to be a valuable aid in helping me to prepare for the season. I believe these steps are the basic steps to becoming a great baseball player.
Baseball is one of the hardest sports to play. Baseball, unlike every other sport, does not have a certain location to bring the ball to or a goal to put the ball in. The team, not only one player, has to work together to win every single game. On average every player has an at-bat three
Now, I play baseball whenever in my spare time, which helps me reach my overall goal of playing the sport. It used to be for fun, but now I am trying to go farther than just having fun in the sport. I have had to do many things to get where I am, but I do not want to be finished yet, I want to keep going throughout my life and keep succeeding. “Baseball is a good thing”. Always was, always will be.”
Many people don't understand the point in playing baseball. Why would someone swing a stick, hit a ball, and try to get back to where they started before the ball returns? What pleasure is there in that? Why not participate in a sport like wrestling or track where there is an obvious level of individual improvement and therefore pleasure. Well, I play baseball because of the love I have for the sport, and because of the feeling that overwhelms me every time I walk onto a baseball field. When I walk onto a field I am given the desire to better myself not only as an athlete, but also as a person. The thoughts and feelings I get drive me to work hard towards my goals and to be a better person. The most relevant example of these feelings is when I stepped on the field at Runyon Complex in Pueblo, Colorado during our high school state playoffs in 2003. This baseball field will always be an important place to me.
The process of becoming a great baseball player takes talent, hard work, and a ton of practice. Baseball, being the second hardest sport in the world is a hard sport to stay discipline at. As a player, he must make sure he works at all the drills everyday, boring or not. Also, he must have the mental mind set that he definitely wants to make it to the big leagues, if he doesn’t, then its ...
Growing up, I have always had a passion for baseball. To me, it is much more than just a sport. There have been times when it has acted as an escape from many problems in my life, as I feel that when I am on the diamond, nothing can hurt me. I am aware that many people feel this way about the sport they love, but sadly their careers often come to an abrupt end due to injury. I have a personal connection to this experience.
Baseball taught me a lot of things, but one of the most important was to take care of myself. Taking care of myself takes many different forms. From eating healthier to exercising, I gained the good habits I have today from baseball. When I played baseball, I had to keep in shape every day. Whether it was 3 hours or 30 minutes,
Although I did not play on this field until I started going to Vandebilt, this is the place where I have learned many life skills and how to be successful in life. In every softball skill, there is a life lesson to be taught along with it. For example, communicating on the field is important in clearing up any confusions, and this goes along with life as well. Communicating is essential to success in every occupation especially when working with others. Another example of this would be learning how to handle hardships. On every team, there is that one person no one likes or that one person that gets on everyone's last nerve; however, it is coming together as a team that leads to victory. This is much like putting aside our own needs in today's world. Finally, there is failure. Failure is going to happen throughout everything in life, but it is one's ability to get back up that stands out. Vince Lombardi once said, " It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up." All in all, this softball field not only teaches me how to excel in softball but also how to excel in
Baseball is a very demanding sport, like many others. It is a game of mental and physical ability and takes a lot of training. Although all the work that players put into it is well worth it when they get their checks. In a baseball season there are 162 games and half of them are away. This means for over 81 days a year not including days that you are traveling, you are away from home and your family.
