Racing. Several different breeds of horse, plus mules, are raced. Racing under saddle can be on the flat or over jumps. There is also harness racing wherein the horse pulls a cart called a sulky while trotting or pacing. Chuck wagon racing involves a team of horses pulling a loaded chuck wagon around a track, followed by the outriders who are also part of the team. Barrel racing is a Western discipline for women, in which riders race in a clover leaf pattern around barrels set in an arena. Racers compete one at a time, with the fastest time winning. Racing, especially thoroughbred racing, is big business. (quora) Driving. This is where horses, or teams of horses, compete while pulling a carriage. Driving events include dressage, which showcases the horses' training while executing a pattern; cross country, where the horses pull the carriage over simulated roadways, through water obstacles, and so forth; and obstacle course, where the aim is to maneuver around cones without knocking down balls set on top, while completing the course as quickly as possible. There are also competitions for carriage and team …show more content…

Throughout my interview’s I noticed that those who said it is not a sport answered the other questions as if it was a sport. This shows that those who say it is not a sport don't understand why they think it is not a sport. Throughout my research process I noticed that there are a lot of irritated equestrians. Due to this there is a lot of controversy on if it really is a sport.
Horse riding should be known as a sport.
My main point was to persuade the non ridders and non believers of horse riding to say “yes horse riding is a sport”. My findings have shown every reason why horse riding is a sport. My main point is believe what you want to believe but don’t annoy those who believe horse riding is a sport.

The experience that the rider and horse goes through is very nerve racking. The race the athlete is hoping for is a clean and good run. The racer wants the horse and his or herself to do their very best at what they are competing for the win or just the placing they want. The racing life is very interesting and very fun the racer gets to see new places and so does the horse. The barrel racing events or races are the most important thing to the rider because they want to compete and see how good they worked for it and how fast their horse can run. Barrel racing is a rodeo sport and it is a challenging one too at some of the most serious times. A barrel racer is a person who is completely focused on their horse the hours they put into train and ride the horse plus keeping their own body in the shape and the training they went through. The rider keeps the horse and their self on a schedule and keep their races going. Barrel racing is a rodeo sport and the reason is because it is a timed event for the fastest racers. Barrel racing is where the fastest time is what matters to the racers. This sport is focused on the horses being fully tuned and the racer has to be fully healthy and ready to race. Training for racing can be fun but a hard thing to do. Barrel racing has three things that the racer and horse, they have to go through training mental and
When it comes to the topic of whether cheerleading is a sport, some of us will readily agree that it is. Where the agreement usually ends, however, is on the question whether cheerleading is a sport or not. Whereas many are convinced that it isn’t a sport, other maintains that it is a sport because cheerleaders are athletes, they need to train and be in shape in order to be able to do all the complex maneuvers safely. I agree that cheerleading is a sport because cheerleaders compete against other teams and competition is part of every sport.
The Kentucky Derby has over 160,000 people come from around the world to attend the Kentucky Derby annually, and tens of millions watch on television. The Kentucky Derby is our state’s signature event, filled with traditions, legends, and celebrities. On May 2nd, of every year, is the Kentucky Derby and my birthday. The Kentucky Derby is an athletic event, because you get to understand the roles of the jockey and thoroughbred as athletes, as well as the scientific basis for their performance, it helps provide insights and comparisons into human training, nutrition, and health. “The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved” was hailed as a triumph and brought rabid attention to Scanlan’s. (McKeen 149) The Kentucky Derby is a horse race that

Surfing is not a sport, and no true surfer would ever claim otherwise. Yes, it requires all the essential elements of a sport; strength, discipline, balance and most of all practice but unlike a sport, surfing isn’t a competition. True, even most surfers refer to it as an “extreme sport”, but the truth is, we do so because it’s impossible to create a word that completely describes surfing. It is an experience in its own class, a spiritual conquest quest, searching for the perfect wave.
A chariot driver cracks his whip to encourage his horses. Chariot racing was a popular pastime in ancient Greece and Rome and was recorded as an event in the ancient Olympic Games.
Everyone thinks barrel racing is a boring, girl, rodeoing event. It is not. Barrel racing is a fun, exciting, not just a girls rodeo event. I am going to tell you a story about how barrel racing changed a girl’s life and how she changed the sport of barrel racing. I am going to tell you about Amberley Snyder. She was in an accident and she thought she was never gonna be able to ride her horses again and not even barrel race. But Snyder never gave up. She knew that if she gave up, she would never be happy again. She didn't not gave up. She helped work with her horses to make it so she could ride again. She practiced very hard in order for her to barrel race again. She never gave up. She thought about giving up, but she never gave up.
Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal reasons. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great and enjoyable for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far and become negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing trend that results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society.
eople riding bulls, wrestling steers, and roping calves all in one sport? What kind of game is this? It’s called rodeo. Rodeo consists of all different kinds of events to choose from, and can be competed in all over the United States, even Canada. These events include bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, team roping, calf roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, and for the girls, barrel racing. This sport is becoming very unique in today’s world. It opens a window to the past, but still provides an exciting atmosphere.
Track and field is a form of exercise that has historically given talented individuals an opportunity to show their athleticism through events like sprinting, relays, and long jumping. Track and field is also a form of a challenge because it gives the athlete a chance to see who is the best in the world because in track in field u compete against others around the world and county districts.
One of the fastest growing sports in the world is racing. Racing in general can consist of many different types such as: Drag Racing, NASCAR, Indy, Motor Cross, Truck Rally. The topic of racing that I am chose was street racing. Street racing originated from drag racing on the quarter-mile strip. The concept of drag racing is when two racers in different cars would line up at a white line, and in the middle of the two cars would be a light post, called the Christmas tree for its red, yellow and green bulbs. The tree does what a stoplight does, except backwards, it starts from red, then to yellow, then to green. On the quarter-mile strip, when the light hits green, the two racers are supposed to try to go as fast as they can before the end of the quarter-mile, which would then set off a electronic board showing their electronic times (E.T.) and their speeds.
Track was a perfect sport to me because I never wanted to lose. It’s not like a team sport such as basketball or soccer where it takes a team to win the game. Winning a race all matters on yourself. Track is an individual sport and that is why I like it so much. You are basically competing against yourself. You’re competing against your best time since every race is a mission of getting better and beating that time. On the other hand, though, you still have a competition and you are competing against other runners. This competition of sense of victory is different than any other sport. When you win, it is an inner excitement knowing you pushed your body to full capacity. When you win a sport with a team, you had other people there to help and support you. It is comparing opposites when comparing track to any other sport. You really don’t know the difference unless you experience it yourself. I know I have many times, and that is one of the main reasons why I still do track
Fencing is a great activity know worldwide just like reading class I learn in both. A great activity offered by my school is fencing. First, fencing offers me a lot of health benefits for the future. Second, it is just simply fun to take and to learn important life skills. Last, I take it because some of my friends take it with me, and I like the way they teach us all of the important skills first. As can be seen, the great activity offered by my school is the art of fencing.
There are thousands of sports all around the world that are played by all kinds of people. Some sports are harder or considered more physically demanding than others. One of the most physically demanding and difficult sports is rowing. Rowing is an all body kind of sport, using a ton of different muscles throughout one stroke alone. It requires intense training, serious teamwork, and a lot of strength to be a rower, and quite a bit of time as well. Rowing is one of the least independent sports around, although rowing alone is a big exception. Rowing is a big part of the Olympics, so it has an obvious appeal to those who watch, also showing it has a large level of challenge and competition involved. When it comes to rowing a lot of people have
It must be a sport if it’s in the Olympics. I’m sure it’s in the Olympics because the kind of shows people do can become very competitive and eligible for the Olympics. I think it might be more competitive than other sports because you’re riding a 1200lb animal and it takes a lot of hard concentration and work to train the horse and get it ready for competition season. If it’s in the Olympics no one can really argue that it is not a sport, therefore I have made my point. If someone were to argue that it is not a sport because “the horse is doing all the work” , well I would tell them you get on it and see how “easy” it is. It’s not easy unless you ride often getting ready for show season, or even just for fun. The rider and the horse need to be in good shape. I would also then argue it’s like the most expensive sport out
