When I was little I absolutely loved riding my horse. I rode my horse with my mom everyday. I didn’t care if the whether was hot, or cold I would always be on my horse. I rode everyday after school. I have almost been riding horses since I was born. I was first on a horse when I was six mouths old. My mom held me as we walked around on a horse in our pasture. For Christmas I actually got a little pony that I could take care of. My mom saw that I was getting more and more interested in the horses. For my 4th birthday shes bought me my very own horse. I was so excited. She was a dark bay with black feet, and her main and tail were black. She also had a white blaze down the middle of her face. As a matter of fact that’s what we named her, blaze because of the white blaze on her face. As I got older my mom started to teacher me how to barrel race. She wasn’t to hard on me when I messed up because she new I was just a beginner. Mom started taking me to small play days so I could start slowing competing on barrels. Since I was so little I had straps on my saddle that kept me in the saddle, and from falling off. My horse took good care of me to. She never bucked with me kicked me, or tried to bite me. She was the best horse I could have ever asked for. …show more content…
I thought to myself I would never able to barrel race like my mom. After she got done running she noticed that something was bothering me. When she asked me what was wrong I told her that I would never be as good as her. My mom sat down beside me, and said. You cant be perfect over night. It all takes time. I'm now ten and iv started running in bigger barrel races. I thought I would never be as good as my mom, but before I new it I was running close in time with my mom, and the other people that were there to
Indian Horse is a novel by Richard Wagamese that beautifully explores the idea of family, and what it means to have people around you that make you feel at home. The reader is bombarded with an overwhelming sense of family and betrayal in the first few pages of the novel. As Richard Wagamese continues to write, one is able to see how safe Saul Indian Horse felt with his biological family, and he also shows how lost he felt without their love when he was taken to the Residential School. The school he was brought to was drained of all consensual love the moment it was open, and continued to fill the children with horrible feelings the entire time they were there. Indian Horse was unable to really feel as though he still had family while he was in the
Most of the time I ride is when I race. I Don’t mean in races I mean with my uncle and dad. I really hope I can get better at riding. One day my friend zander and me are going the ramps.
Louise Erdrich’s short story “American horse” is a literary piece written by an author whose works emphasize the American experience for a multitude of different people from a plethora of various ethnic backgrounds. While Erdrich utilizes a full arsenal of literary elements to better convey this particular story to the reader, perhaps the two most prominent are theme and point of view. At first glance this story seems to portray the struggle of a mother who has her son ripped from her arms by government authorities; however, if the reader simply steps back to analyze the larger picture, the theme becomes clear. It is important to understand the backgrounds of both the protagonist and antagonists when analyzing theme of this short story. Albetrine, who is the short story’s protagonist, is a Native American woman who characterizes her son Buddy as “the best thing that has ever happened to me”. The antagonist, are westerners who work on behalf of the United States Government. Given this dynamic, the stage is set for a clash between the two forces. The struggle between these two can be viewed as a microcosm for what has occurred throughout history between Native Americans and Caucasians. With all this in mind, the reader can see that the theme of this piece is the battle of Native Americans to maintain their culture and way of life as their homeland is invaded by Caucasians. In addition to the theme, Erdrich’s usage of the third person limited point of view helps the reader understand the short story from several different perspectives while allowing the story to maintain the ambiguity and mysteriousness that was felt by many Natives Americans as they endured similar struggles. These two literary elements help set an underlying atmos...
I signed up to run track in the spring and went to summer conditioning for cross country. That’s when my coaches, teammates, and myself noticed that my running has improved significantly from when I first started. I knew that I had to work hard my senior year to achieve my goals for running. Running is a mental sport. The workouts I had to do were brutally painful and I had stay positive throughout the run because I know the training I had to do will help me during a race.
he horse, Equus ferus caballus, is a subspecies from the family Equidae. I am very grateful that she helped me how to ride a bike. My first bike was a blue Schwin. I loved that bike from the time it had training wheels to the time I got a new one. We started with the bike in the bike yard and mom would run either beside or behind me holding on and helping me keep my balance. When she let go I would fall and gets all kind of bruises then she would be mad that she let and I got hurt because of it. I eventually got better and we moved out to the street in front of the house, I loved how it felt to ride the bike on the pavement.
Horse Shows Some of the best times I have had have been at horse shows. I have been to several that are smaller, at other competitor’s barns, and some at big venues, such as the Florida State Fairgrounds. One of the smaller shows was at the West Coast Morgans’ facility and I won two blue ribbons, a trophy, and a red ribbon, which is for 2nd place. I rode a beautiful bay American Saddlebred mare named Miley, but her registered name is Intoxicating Gypsy.
“The Rocking-Horse Winner” by D.H. Lawrence is a very enthralling short story. Greed, among many other topics, stood out the most to me as I read this story. Paul's mother shows very little attention to her son or husband, but rather concentrates solely on money and is continuously looking for new ways to spend the money her family earns. Essentially, the money Paul makes from gambling goes directly to his mother, causing her to desire more and more money. It was apparent from the very beginning that the family did not have enough money to support the kind of lifestyle they wanted to live.
D. H. Lawrence creates a magical and vivid story that is portrayed with many elements of fantasy with his style of writing. The story of “The Rocking-Horse Winner” is able to show how it contains elements that allow it transcend the bounds of known reality. Lawrence is able to show this giving Paul the power of luck and seeing into the future by knowing which horse will win each race. Lawrence first illustrates the power of fantasy by giving real life elements to the world and objects that often do not have a life of their own.
David Hebert Lawrence published many stories throughout his life. He grew up around a father who was a coalminer and a mother who was a schoolteacher. In addition to that he didn’t complete high school, but he did go on to attend Nottingham University College, while working for a surgical-appliance manufacture, as well as teaching at a nearby school near London. After writing his novel Sons and Lovers he was known as a literary figure in 1913. The Lawrence family left England and started exploring the world, later D.H. Lawrence was diagnosed with tuberculosis and soon past away in 1930.
The story, “The Rocking Horse Winner” by D.H. Lawrence draws the reader in with the first sentence. Lawrence starts by talking about a woman who is beautiful but happens to have no luck (560). Immediately one thinks to himself why a beautiful woman is cursed with this luckless life. However, after realizing that this woman based her luck on money the story becomes an engaging tale. The fact that she is so absorbed with the thought of money makes this story easy to relate to.
I pleaded and begged my mother until finally she let me, I was 10 years old a little old to start training but I was determined to make it on team. Within two years I started competing on team. Each day that we practiced, I went in there with one thing; a gold medal. Competition season came around and each competition led up
I was three years old camping with family in the middle of the woods near a stream. My dad, grandpa, uncle, and I had been on a cement bridge just wide enough to stand on. They were testing my new pellet gun on a near rock sticking out of the water. Almost every shot was hitting and it was now my turn. I lifted the gun, looked down the sights and shot.
Horseback riding is not an activity most people think of, but it is a great escape for some people. Horseback riding is not just saddling up and riding, people have to have a passion for horses and riding. Some things to keep in mind when riding is balance and knowledge on how to keep the horse under control. People can be told how to ride, but each person will have to find a style that works for them. When riding a horse the concept of time, destination and worries do not exist.
I ride horses and it takes up a lot of my time. I have been riding since second grade and have owned five horses. The one that taught me the most was my small pony, Anna. The pony I had before her was very mean and naughty, so we decided he had to go. When Anna arrived at our barn
