I am interested in joining the Honors College because I believe that it will encourage me to go beyond my boundaries and explore myself and my aspiring field of computer science in ways that otherwise wouldn’t be possible. The College’s Study Away program will provide a rigorous learning experiences outside of the classroom in addition to what I will experience inside. The Ecology of Innovation: Silicon Valley program, led by Dr. Adam Watkins, has specifically caught my attention, as it explores how innovation is leveraging social, technical, and environmental factors in order to maximize innovative potential and therefore change the world. This is the ultimate goal of computer scientists, and being exposed to how to accomplished that goal …show more content…
Due to the high-caliber of the faculty and research opportunities offered by them at the undergraduate level, many of them have requested to work with Honors College students. Being a part of this network would not only allow me to make new connections with the faculty and the research I am involved in, but it will also allow me to collaborate with other bright Honors College students to make meaningful contributions to that research. One research opportunity that is only available to Honors College students that interests me is the Interactive Visualization for Home Energy Interactions project led by Dr. Sabine Brunswicker. The goal for the students is to support the research team with designing and developing the energy data visualizations for the three different devices for research purposes. During my internship at Expedia Inc. this past summer, I helped create a similar data visualization dashboard for my team, so I know that this is something I would be interested in. Opportunities like this, which will directly impact the community (and the environment), are what I look most forward to as an Honors College student. To the Honors College, I hope to bring my ideas, experiences, and perspectives to identify problems and create solutions with other bright
It is a tremendous honor to be considered for membership in the most prestigious Honor Society available at Wapato High School. It is even more grand to be able to work towards enrollment in the Society side by side with such an astoundingly gifted group of young men and women. I am only being considered for potential membership in the National Honors Society because I have demonstrated an exemplary academic attitude, and have proven this through the grades I have attained during the years I have spent in the Wapato School District and the fondness amongst my teachers I have achieved. There are also other characteristics besides good scholarship I must fill for membership in the Society, those being services I have done to benefit others in the community, leadership positions I have held, and an original and interesting demonstration of
When candidates are competing for an award, a job, or an honor, they often use the qualities of their character as evidence as to why they deserve it. I certainly understand and believe in the necessity of qualifications; however, I have also always believed that having a plan of what one will do with a certain honor is an integral part of deserving it. That is why this essay is not about my previous accomplishments. This essay is a declaration of my ideas to serve as a representative of Seton Hill University by making the community, state, and country a better place for all.
During the next four years I expect myself to be a dedicated student, put forth my greatest effort, challenge myself both intellectually and socially, and prepare for my professional career. I believe the Honors College would help me efficiently reach these goals. My personal goals consist of challenging myself and finding a healthy community to be a
I applied to UNC Asheville specifically because of its’ distinction as the designated state sponsored liberal arts university. In high school, the areas of study were limited and the course curriculums narrow. I expect a very different experience from my college education. The world is changing rapidly and I am not interested in a specializing in a focused course curriculum to fit into a slot that may not be available by the time I enter the job market. Knowing that I am not ready to concentrate my education in a specific direction is one of the main reasons I applied to UNC Asheville. During Governor’s School, I experienced a taste of the diversity offered by an Arts education and loved it. I am hoping to attend UNC Asheville and continue that experience. I am looking for college to challenge me, broaden my knowledge, and develop my ability to think for myself. I am excited about becoming part of an
Travelling around the world gives an individual a unique perspective of life, culture and tolerance. In the tenth grade, I had the opportunity to embark on a journey which provided me with a unique perspective and view of humanity. Similar to my other trips to Europe my initial intention was to enjoy two-weeks away from school in continental Europe, however I was flabbergasted when I realized this two-week trip would serve to destroy my idealist view of a pluralistic society. I was destined for Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic to study the Holocaust.
Just as student mentors are willing to assist elementary school students, corporations and individual professionals must be willing to assist high school and college students. Allotting time and money to those trying to make an impact is a vital step that must be taken. The consequences of this step is well worth the expense, however. By making computer science a part of a student’s day-to-day life, any negative stigma associated with STEM will be lifted.
The Honors Program is less about reward and more about the push for personal growth for myself. The last four years have shown to be a challenge, from being the first year student in Pre-calculus to being the junior who is aiming for a five on the AP test. I came from having mostly A’s, with few B’s, to being the student who earned A’s in every class. Personal motivation led me to this achievement. The Honors Program at CSU looks like a program to help me continue my journey of gaining knowledge. Being a member of this program would give my motivation to continue to strive for those higher grades. It is in my interest to be in this program to keep my performance in classes at the upper level. This program would allow me to focus on academics and strive for the best grades personally possible.

There many traits students needs besides being “book” smart to be successful in honors classes at the Hillsborough High School. I am helpful, kind, caring, patient, and a strong leader, these I believe are some traits that are needed for a student to be successful for honors classes at the high school.
In conclusion, I believe that I have the required zeal to progress my knowledge further at the University of Southern California. My decision to focus on Cybersecurity over the years, has equipped me with a unique set of strengths that I can put to use in the program. Being an International student, I hope to contribute to the already existing multiethnic and multiracial society at your esteemed institution. After I earn my master's degree, I intend to start work on my Ph.D. in Computer Science. I see Ph. D as a professional stepping stone that would help me work in the area of research and development for the Government of India. It is in R & D that I believe, I can make the greatest contribution, utilizing my theoretical background and creativity as a scientist.
The honor system is an essential part in a school district’s mission statement. An honor system gives a student what he/she needs to be successful in life. It teaches the student’s to be respectful, responsible, reliable, and gives the students good morals. From an honor system a student also learns what is right from wrong. Without an honor code, students wouldn’t learn anything, and get the essentials they need.
With a liberal arts curriculum based on a diverse variety of classes, as well as strong options to dual major, I know that it is right for someone like me. Outside of class, I hope to become involved with a variety of clubs such as the chemistry club, CWMEA, and the pep band that will hopefully sustain my main interests, let me explore other interests, and share those interests with others. Along with joining clubs, I hope to possibly start a club focusing on on-line video and using the medium for entertainment, education, and awareness of various issues. I’m hoping to join the international Honors program in order to learn how to integrate my interests and use them for just reasons in a global outlook. I hope to learn from my peers and hope they feel the same.
During my high school career I participated in a variety of clubs, bands and volunteer work. Having a serious interest in music and art, I pursued related activities that pushed my limits and boundaries that made a more imaginative thinker. As a musician I performed with and organized several bands both in and out of the school environment. At school, I participated in concert band and jazz ensemble, however I felt that these settings were not challenging enough so during my sophomore year I auditioned for the Select Jazz Ensemble, which was a group that would compete against other schools within the Cavalcade of Bands circuit.
I would first like to thank you for the opportunity to apply for scholarships from the College of Education Scholarship. I am currently a junior at Boise State University, working on completing my Elementary Education Degree. My desire to become an educator stems from the positive impact many of my teachers had on me during my formative years. As a child, I was adopted, placed back into state care and bounced from home to home. During that difficult time, it was my teachers that provided me with the support I needed to be successful and ultimately enabled me to thrive.
