I anticipated this show for months and the day came to see one of my favorite musicians, Homeshake. Homeshake was the main act but before them, a local Houston band,Solace, and a band from Dallas,Luna Luna, played. Each band has a different sound. For example, Homeshake has a lo-fi r&b sound, his songs are filled with different voice effects, synthesizers and more. Solace, on the other hand, does have a jazzy R&B sound as well but it lacks fullness. They have simple melodies that create their euphoric sound. Then there is Luna Luna. A majority of their songs are upbeat and make you want to dance, which is why this band differs from the other too greatly. Although the bands differ they do all fall under the music category indie pop. This explains
In the excerpt from Staying Put: Making a Home in a Restless World, Scott Russell Sanders creatively responds to a piece written by Rushdie in which he opposed. In response to Rushdie’s piece, Sanders argues against the idea that movement is always beneficial. Sanders uses his direct tone with real examples which gives off the persuasive tone that ultimately leaves the reader thinking about their own life.
I think that the sound in this album sound okay as there is some songs that you can hear the lower quality, of course comparing it to now in days’ records. But probably for its time was good sound. There are two songs I like one is for the dancing rhythm of rock and roll and beat and the other one for the meaningful lyric the first one is “La Bamba”, this is a song that I heard as I was growing up. This song was an influ-ence of Veracruz Folk as I’m familiar with as I was a dancer and a teacher of Folklorico, I guess I choose it because it brings memories when I was a teenager. “La Bamba” in the Ritchie Valens Album was filled by the traditional melody but with a rock drive. There are several instruments that are played in this song for example string bass, pi-ano, electric guitars and drums and can’t forget the vocalist Ritchie Valens. I feel that in this song the electric guitar is the star of the instruments as you are able to hear it more and it also has a solo in the song. Even though “La Bamba” was not a number one hit when it was first released it was still a hit song as it was different from what people was listening to in the 1958, it became popular after his dead and a number one hit after the movie La Bamba. The second song I want to talk about is “Donna” this song was writ-ten by Ritchie Valens as an admiration to his school sweetheart. When this song was released in
The article “homeboy to the rescue” is about how teens get involved in gangs. Teens get involved because they want money or they want to be in a group. The group Homeboy helps teens and adults get out of gangs because they know exactly what to say. When gang members get out they try to put them in jobs and no one wants to hire x gang members but they were surprised that they got jobs.Jobs help x gang member’s develop skills in working. In the article Carlos says “if you grew up in a rough neighborhood it was easier to get in a gang.”This article is about Homeboy getting gang members out of gangs and helps gang members get jobs.
Throughout the performance Band of Horses’ has a very traditional folk vibe and especially during the song Marry Song. Which seems to keep the majority of its integrity from the original release. Band of Horses does a wonderful job at being more than just a studio band they find a way to make it fell as if you are still wearing ear buds or directly at the show through the Acoustic at the Ryman album. This is definitely a band that sounds the same if not better in acoustic form.
Looking back on the Native American time period, I've come to a realization that the way all of them adapted to life with how they lived was much different then than how things are today. Going from the way they talked, how they dressed, how education was done, to how they live everyday, etc. I think it's all somewhat different with how people are today in those categories. But some of those things that the Native Americans were used to doing everyday, were being forced to change by different kinds of people. The Native American experience was a genocide act.
The choreography was highly appropriate as well. I really liked the long and high note that one member hit near the end of the song, and when all ten members harmonized the “hello!” on the last note was spectacular, while waving flamboyantly with huge smiles on their faces at the audience. I found it very amusing. Next was “Standing on the Corner” was somewhat upbeat, but with a slower tempo than the other two. This song was from the musical, “The Most Happy Fella.” This song also had a somewhat less bright timbre than the previous one. Also, the solo in the song was done really well, as the singer captivated my attention by the passion he put into the song. good, the guy was really into it. After that was “Perfidia”; a song with an upbeat nature, fast tempo, and bright tone color. The choreography and facial expressions were perfect and funny too, and the four members harmonized really well in this song too. I liked the Spanish part of the song; though, the singers may have intentionally pronounced the words horribly. Alas, it was still amusing. I later found out that this song was from a Broadway musical, “Forever Plaid.” Again, I enjoyed the last note when all
For well over a decade, the edible holiday displays at Walt Disney World have filled the foyers of some of their best loved resorts with the spice heavy scent of freshly baked gingerbread. This being our first Christmas in the Orlando area, we have never been able to view these works of art in person until this week. I have seen photos of them online for years, but now that we were actually able to go and see them, I can see what everyone makes such a fuss about. Loving Husband is a trained pastry chef, Teams of Disney pastry chefs work for months baking, detailing and assembling these life-size gingerbread sculptures. If you live near WDW, or will be here between late November to the beginning of January, I strongly encourage you to spend a little time exploring these exhibits.
I am very religious and a huge believer in God, since childhood. My grandma has played a big role making me religious person. I remember in my childhood my grandma used to take me to the temple with her every day. From that time, I am attached very strongly toward the god. There was temple close to my house in India. I used to go to temple with my grandma two times a day morning and evening. These two times in temple saints (Hindu monks) do the “Aarti” (Aarti is waving lighted wicks before the sacred images to infuse the flames with the Deities’ love, energy, and blessings). “Aarti” means get rid of the darkness from life.
In conclusion, the concert was really interesting and I enjoyed myself. In my opinion the two pieces that I really like in this concert, are Sounden Horn and Polonaise from Engine Onegin, the shift between the melodic lines and the element of beauty is what made me like it. In the future I would recommend it to my friends and I will not mind to go with them at all. This kind of music is the best to me by far.
Zedd is a DJ and musician, who produces electro house music, his genre of music has influences from progressive house and dupstep which are part of the electro dance genre. During the concert the music was loud, it had a strong party atmosphere, large amount of people. The concert was an exciting experience for me, and it was also my first live popular concert that I ever been to. My reaction to the concert would be considered to be “mind-blowing” especially by seeing all the bright neon lights and the amount of people that were there. It was huge difference from hearing the songs by Zedd in my room and the car to a live musical performance, because in my room I can only hear the songs at a minimum volume compared to a live concert that I can hear the song at a maximum volume and have more of a live experience of being in the moment of the electro dance genre. Electro dance is a genre of music that’s becoming more popular over the past five years and in my view pop and electro dance starting to become part of modern popular aesthetics. From Bourdieu’s book called Distinction, “popular aesthetics were based on the affirmation of continuity between art and life, which implies the subordination of form and function” (Bourdieu). It is a new form of art that is expanding throughout society and the cultural market such as the music industry, where it’s capturing attention
When people think of a family having a lot of tension it is to be assumed that there has been a dispute between family members. It is usually originating from an internal source within the household, and far less likely to be caused by the world’s involvement. But when one of the women within Anja’s family had to make the call to kill the children and herself we watch what real stress within a family can do. This was an external pressure onto the family, as the threats from the German Nazis intensified, and she decided that it was far more merciful to the children to have them poisoned rather then sent to the gas chambers. The image of her feeding the poison to the children is what I chose to depict in my last drawing.
Dewayne loved life, more importantly his children and grandchildren. He was a joyful very funny and charismatic young man. Everyone he came in contact with, he could bring a smile to their face, make them feel comforted and laughter to their lives. He a was devoted father since the day his children were born, never missed a beat in their lives. Over the course of 22years, he wrote and called his children, he never missed a court date, birthday, holiday or graduation. Dewayne celebrated every accomplishment his children made, sharing a bond with them that was very special, not even words could describe it. He was their confidant, protector, motivator, strength and best friend. Dewayne loved taking pictures and creating memories with his family.
If I were to be forced to leave my home I would bring some very important items with me to help me survive the journey. I would bring a duffel bag and a backpack to hold all my items in. In my backpack and duffel bag I would carry a fishing rod for catching fish and l would bring lures so that I would not have to carry around a bunch of live bait. I would also bring a medical kit so that if I got injured l could bandage and disinfect cuts and scrapes. I would also bring a fillet knife for cleaning my fish and I would bring a couple fire starters to cook the fish so that I wouldn't get parasites from eating raw fish. I would purify my water by either boiling it or I would have iodine pills and water filters. I would have a handgun for
I was born to my amazing parents on September 20,2001 at 10:38pm. I was 7lbs 2oz and 19 ½ inches long. My parents didn’t know I would be walking at 8 months old and be climbing everything. I was super tiny and climbed everything. My parents and aunt started calling me “Houdini” because I could get out of any car seat, I would figure out how to get out of my car seat without unbuckling it then sometimes I would climb to the front seat and sometimes I would open the door and my parents would pull over, give me a spanking, buckle me back up, and shut the door and keep driving. That’s just one of the many things that makes me, me. Based on my deep map I’m going to share about the family I have, the transitions of moving, the sports I play, the
“Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends (Robot check).” A place becomes a home for me when I am around all the things that I enjoy and love. For example, when I am around everyone that I love, I enjoy a peaceful environment and the beautiful landscapes around me. The interpretation of home for me is not a physical thing that I see or that I can remember or even certain thoughts that I can relate, but it is a sensation that overcomes me when I envision being in the comfort of my own home. However, I know that this is a feeling that is calming to my soul and it quietly reassures me that I genuinely belong in a place where I can be free from people constantly judging me.
