Sleeping on the footpaths, at the end of street corners, or at the bottom of the block of flats there lie some motionless bodies to whom nobody even bothers to give a second glance. Such people who don’t have a permanent dwelling are known as ‘homeless’. It is estimated that more than 300 million people are homeless all over the world. Homelessness is a huge issue. The belief that they are mentally unstable people is however partially true. There are many normal people found on the streets, who at some point in their lives might have witnessed a traumatic event which may have left them with no option but to leave their homes; or simply poverty.

These people are deprived from the basic necessities of life and survival is the major task which they need to tackle down. There are other loads of difficulties which they go through from. It’s not easy spending days without having proper or no food, a comfortable place to sleep, a hygienic surrounding, personal security or privacy. Homeless people face many problems beyond the lack of a safe and suitable home. They are often faced with many social disadvantages also. Living without a home makes people prime targets of antisocial elements. These people are often ill-treated by society, which makes them hostile. They feel that they don't belong in the society and turn towards crime for respect and money. Not only it leads to an increase in crimes but also poses a threat to social security and integrity. There’s an increased risk of suffering from violence and abuse which they need to take care of. Then there’s general rejection or discrimination from other people; they look at them with disgust, leaving them in superiority complex. They are not seen suitable for employment and that is why they often end up being a part of illegal activities. Apart from this they don’t also have an access to health care facilities or education.
