No company aims to perform worse than the market, and no club aims lose matches. Eventually, company stocks would perform as good as the market, better than the market, or worse than the market, and a club would win a game, draw a game, or lose a game. Therefore, we can infer that United aims for its stocks to perform as good as the market or better, and on-field, win matches or draw. I build on the aforementioned for the research question and hypothesis: Do Manchester United 's stocks perform better than the market on when they win games in the Barclays Premier League? Most European cities can boast of a professional football (soccer) club and a competitive rivalry with a neighboring team. However, Glasgow, Scotland is the home of one of the oldest and most heated rivalries in the world. Two of the most prestigious football clubs in Europe, Celtic and Rangers, both call Glasgow their home. The cross-town rivals first met on the pitch on February 28, 1888. At that point, "none of the 2,000 spectators at the game could have guessed that they were present at a historic occasion, for that evening marked the first of what was to become the most famous, long-lasting – and bitter – sporting rivalry in the history of football" (Murray 4). Almost a hundred years after the inaugural match, the conflict between fans came to fruition when Celtic and Rangers met in the 1980 Scottish Cup Final. Immediately following an entertaining and relatively problem free match, built up tension exploded into violent riots before anyone had even le! ft the stadium. Celtic supporters, excited after the victory, rushed the field to celebrate with their beloved players. Angered by the loss and the expression of joy shown by their nemesis, Rangers fans also rushed the field. However,

This new revenue will follow the forecasted growth of 9% from 2010. In this calculation the increase of broadcasting rights have been included and the £20M transfer fee has been accounted as a tax deduction. Thus adding the cost and revenue of new player will increase the NPV to £82.32M.

In the end, the owners must agree and commit to a plan. If the owners stand firm with their decision and remain flexible and dedicated to the plan, success is imminent.
In the long history, the club has won most trophies for First Division (prior 1992) and England Premier League (EPL) with 20 trophies in total. For FA Cup, Manchester United shared record for most cups with Arsenal with 12 times. The team has also been crowned 3 times the European Cup / UEFA Champions League. The rapid development of media and technology in the world market today has helped companies to sell their products and get in touch with their customers more easily (Rayburn, 2012). However the success of a company depends on many factors, not that only whether it has brilliant advertisement or marketing campaigns. The main aim of a company is to create shareholder’s value which according to Bender and Ward (2008), companies have to manage both well in a trading environment and financial environment in order to do that. Hence, the financial strategy can be seen as one of the most important factors in contributing to the business’s success especially to a large company such as Unilever as it is all about strategic decisions related to raising and manage the funds in the most appropriate manner.
... fans who stop attending games and the success of the team will be going down. Now if we take a look at a regular soccer team in England for example Liverpool, the fans know that the owner wants to do what’s best for the team and want to win, so even if the team is struggling the stadium will still be sold out just because the fans trust the owner will do what’s best for the team and they will support the team no matter whether they are playing well or not. Now if Liverpool started to sell all their best players just so that the owner could make some money the fans would slowly stop going to the games.
Chapter 11 closes our discussion with several insights into the efficient market theory. There have been many attempts to discredit the random walk theory, but none of the theories hold against empirical evidence. Any pattern that is noticed by investors will disappear as investors try to exploit it and the valuation methods of growth rate are far too difficult to predict. As we said before the random walk concludes that no patterns exist in the market, pricing is accurate and all information available is already incorporated into the stock price. Therefore the market is efficient. Even if errors do occur in short-run pricing, they will correct themselves in the long run. The random walk suggest that short-term prices cannot be predicted and to buy stocks for the long run. Malkiel concludes the best way to consistently be profitable is to buy and hold a broad based market index fund. As the market rises so will the investors returns since historically the market continues to rise as a whole.
