With the first ever recorded match of Australian Rules football in 1858 between Scotch College and Melbourne Grammar School, Thomas Wills in 1858 upon his return from England proposed that a similar game to English Rugby League could be used to keep cricket players fit through the winter season. The rules of Australian Football League (AFL) are still ambiguous from when Thomas Wills who set up the foundation rules for which are still being used today, [1]. However, the rules were not followed very well and sometime today still are not followed, with Colden Harrison who became a figure head for the administration of the game unwaveringly said that ‘football is essentially a rough game all over the world and is not suitable for men-poodles and milk sops’ [1]. As the game became more rough and dangerous with players regularly being tripped, punched and kicked, charged or tackling behind play, taking officials centuries to rid the game of this unsportsman ship like behavior.

Playing football comes with several risks factors that players’ acknowledge prior to playing the game starting a young age. Football is one of the toughest sports in the world; it takes a certain amount of strength, speed, and aggressiveness to play 48 minutes of hard-nosed football. However, the National Football League (NFL) is in the midst of a controversial issue. Is the NFL getting soft? This has been a debatable issue for several years. Some claim that the American sport is far too dangerous and the risk of concussions and injuries far outway the pros of the physical sport, while others insist that technological improvements and new regulations have made the sport safer. Camp helped evolve the rules of the game away from rugby and soccer into the rules of American Football as they are known today. An influence to Walter Camp’s invention was William Ellis who was the first person noted for picking up the ball during a soccer game and running with it. From that point, Camp began to assess the rules of football. About 25 years ago, the National football Association did not have the reputation it has today, with the continuous rise of sports television packages, the release of video games, and the invention of the internet perpetuating the regional growth across the United States, and inevitably, the world. The broadcasts began in 1939 with the first pro football game airing on television as network executives began to realize the advertisement could potentially generate substantial profits. Networks began broadcasting football once a week and it quickly became a product turning into their top income stream. By this time, football was given a huge amount of global exposure, eventually increasing with international broadcasts and internet media. ...
