Recommended: History easy The civil rights movement

I came across the idea for this paper while researching History Day topics. I noticed some of my classmates were thinking about doing Martin Luther King Jr. for their topic. I asked myself: ‘Well, what about Mrs. King? Wasn’t she an activist for civil rights as well?’ And that’s how the idea was born. I immediately went to my most important tool in my research arsenal, the Internet. I did a simple Google search and it quickly came up with all sorts of information about Coretta Scott King. All I needed to do was get to reading. I scoured through many articles about Mrs. Scott King from many different publishers, such as The New York Times and Stanford University Encyclopedia. As I am an African American woman, she shows me that regardless of skin color, people can stick together and make a difference in the world. All women have their own mind and make their own decisions to make this world better. Coretta Scott had her own beliefs and supported her husband through his struggle and him making a change in the world. She not only wanted African Americans to have equal rights, but all minority groups. Coretta always put herself in the community to help people and make a difference. That’s what makes Coretta Scott King a hero. (Thesis)
