Globalization is when different cultures and societies interact with each other for the benefit of themselves. Historical globalization has affected everyone who is alive today in a good and bad way, because of this people either think of historical globalization as bad or good but it really is both. Historical globalization is the reason why the world we live in now has so many things that make our lives so much easier. However, historical globalization was the reason why millions of people were killed and because of that many cultures died too. As a result of this many people were killed and enslaved. As Europeans went west they needed people to work on the farms to do work that was strenuous. To fix this, Europeans went to Africa and traded with them for slaves. They traded manufactured goods for slaves and because of this the Atlantic Slave Trade began. The Atlantic Slave Trade moved 10- 12 million enslaved Africans away from their homes and cultures and put them to work for nothing(Lewis). This resulted in racism, stereotypes, and discrimination of Africans, which still exists today. Europeans willingness to trade for slaves caused many problems in Africa which still exist today. People would do anything to get slaves so the continent became more and more violent which made the population go down making agriculture almost impossible(Lewis). The economy and culture of millions of Africans were destroyed because of European exploration which is globalization.
