Today social media is changing the infrastructure of how we connect to others all over the world. For example, the earliest methods of communication across great distances was hand written letters, pony express, telegraph, telephone and radio. Above all in the 21st century, technology is beginning to change rapidly with total worldwide population of 7.3 billion or more people blogging, chatting and instant messaging as a common source of engagement to others socially online. In this case, does social media enhance or hinder our social skills with others? Below are my arguments to the above statement in standard form: P1: People use social media in order to keep in touch with their friends, acquaintances, family members, and so on. P2: Social media allows people to be sociable and meet new people. P3: Social media users find it to be relaxing to alleviate their stress and escape their reality. P4: There are over a million of active social media users that share information, talk about things, express their opinions, share photographs and so on to one another. C: Therefore, social media does not hinder interpersonal relationships but enhance it. Base on the above premises and conclusion that my argument is a deductive argument. …show more content…

In addition, the second premise is true for social media allows a window into meeting new people worldwide by cutting down the need for traveling long distances. Coupled with the third premise, is true that social media allow individuals to be relaxed by finding others updates to be entertaining. Not to mention, the fourth premise, is true hence individuals does find different ways to use social media as to be social to others.
