Sport in schools have been for many year where students had fun but also caused accident. According to US News more than 7.6 millions students played sport during the 2010-2011 (www.usnews.com).I am focus in this two articles “Psychological and social benefits of playing true sport” by U.S.Anti-Doping Agency(U.S.A.D.A) and “The Case Against High School Sports” by Amanda Ripley. Playing high school sport is a negative experience high school students because school spend a lot money, make them behavior delinquency and sport can injured your body. School spend a lot of money on sports and students do not have time to study. Many students leave the assignments because they go to the practice and when they come back just they go to sleep. She
Athletics in American schools have always been controversial for many reasons. Some of these reasons include health concerns, safety precautions, and academic significance. Daniel H. Bowen and Colin Hitt wrote an article titled, “High-School Sports Aren’t Killing Academics” to present the factors of positive correlation between success in athletics and academics. I believe that athletics in high schools not only benefit students socially, but also academically.
Playing a school sport enables you to bond with your teammates, making lifelong friends. Sports are fun and thrilling; they help kids get into shape. For years now there have been kids who play sports who also are very good in academics. Sports help kids get organized and teach them to balance their school work with sports. The article to start all the buzz about no sports in high school is written by
Athletes in times of difficulty can be important role models.” This shows that sports are in fact helpful because they can grow children into being important role models for the rest of society. Studies have shown time and time again that playing sports can be beneficial to children and we also believe this to be true. Many people still think that sports cause “too many injuries”, or coaches “are not fair enough”, but adolescents will experience these things all throughout their lives because injury can happen anywhere and they will not always be the best at what they are doing. Sports are beneficial to the youth because they can teach children and teens important life skills, help them maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle, all while improving their mental health.
High school sports are approached with clashing opinions. Some of these opinions are positive, and supportive of athletics. “Athleticism, among many activities, offers teens a physical outlet to exert their troubles, anger, emotions, and other feelings” (Chen 1). This can be observed in nearly all of the football players in Friday Night Lights. This can also be noticed in the world today. “Athletics help high school students understand their own abilities and talents” (Chen 1). This piece of evidence is very accurate when describing high school athletes. Sports can make a high school student humble. As can be seen by the preceding information, high school athletics can have a positive impact on a student’s life.
Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal reasons. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great and enjoyable for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far and become negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing trend that results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society.
There are some negative factors which lead to a debate. Including, are some negatives aspects about sixth graders having sports because they are newbie to middle school and they may need to adapt to the new environment around them, but shouldn’t they be prepared for the upcoming years? Likewise, because they are new people in a new school it may distract them in class to only think about the sport, but it may not. Another reason, the enjoyment of a sport can lead to the increase of stress, anxiety, and lost amusement of the activity. The long hours of the activity may cause injury to one due to the over practices and burnout. Including to that, due to the competitive sport the player can strain a muscle, ligament, or even possibly aches in body parts. There are a few negative factors, but sports are important to many students, like me, and want to play for their own enjoyment and there are positive outcome ou...
For decades, students have been in school sports; however, they are experiencing a drop in their grades as well. After school activities can cost districts’ a great deal of money and they interfere with students’ time to study. Therefore, school sports shouldn’t be allowed, to save districts’ thousands of dollars a year, help students score better academically, and America will not lag behind other countries in academics.
Sports programs have been an integral part of all schools. They support the academics of the school and therefore foster success in life. These programs are educational and help produce productive citizenship. They help students experience and build skills that may help them in their future, like interpersonal and time management skills. Education may kindle the light of knowledge, but sports help to maintain the proper physique. Sports are also an important means of entertainment and a use for energy after long hours of study. Sports increase a student’s performance not only in the classroom but also in their life.
Professional sports are facing a unique time right now. The cost of attending a game is rising, while fans are less willing to pay the higher prices. Which begs the question “Why do people still attend sporting events when they already pay for the channels to watch them on tv?” For simplicities sake, I will use Major League Baseball figures for comparison. According to the Fan Cost Index, the average family of four can attend a average MLB game for $212.46. This includes 4 tickets, 4 small sodas, 4 hot dogs, 2 beers, parking, 2 programs, and 2 adult sized caps. Granted this is a league wide average, and some teams cost more, and some teams cost less, but on average you have to fork over two hundred dollars to see a baseball game.
“Sports are for fun, but they also offer benefits and lessons that carry over into all aspects of life”. This well-known anonymous quotation conveys the message that sport is the game which has some rules and customs. It is not only for fun and entertainment, but there are also some benefits of playing sports which give some important lessons for life. Every kind of physical sport is healthy because it involves running, jumping, stretching, mind skills and much more. There are so many sports available in the world nowadays, but we can categorize them by the numbers of players, the three main categories are individual sport, dual sport and team sport.
The main goals behind Sport Education are to help students become knowledgeable about different sports and activities to the point where they can participate in these outside of the classroom to stay active. Also it teaches execution and strategies and encourages competitiveness. It is important for kids to be competitive because they will have to be in life and it will teach the importance of winning and losing the right way. “Sports offer kids a great chance to work cooperatively toward a common goal. And working coope...
Have you ever wondered what student athletes are or what they exemplify? Student athletes are ordinary people like you and me, with the exception that they excel at sports and are given the opportunity to play while receiving an education. Societies believe these students are the most outstanding ones in their class. They are expected to have the highest grades as well as to be the best in their sport. I believe they go through a lot of hard work and tension to be able to play a sport while receiving an education. What many people do not ask themselves or do not even consider are the challenges they face to get to where they are. So, what are some of the challenges faced by student athletes? For this research paper, I will answer this inquiry by observing and interviewing several student athletes in various settings to get thorough information about their perspectives.
Sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Everybody has done sport before, therefore different people have different opinions towards sport. In the case of students, many pupils think that participation in sport may improve their academic performance but others may think that participation in sport may distract them from their school work. In this essay, I will demonstrate that participation in sport will improve academic performance and have positive impact for pupils’ future life. Firstly I will discuss on the importance of sport for pupils, secondly the benefit of participation in sport and how it improve academic achievement will be explained. Thirdly I will elaborate more on how participation in sport may improve social skills.
"In addition to these physical benefits, many social benefits result from participation in sports. Participation in sports provides opportunities to learn teamwork. Playing by the rules and overcoming adversity helps youths learn qualities of good sportsmanship and personal responsibility.” This demonstrates that sports have social benefits for children because it says that many social benefits result from participating in
Whether competitive sports are beneficial or helpful to middle school students is a hotly debated topic. People believe that the amount of injuries, and pressure that is put on adolescents can severely harm a teenager mentally and physically. However, that is completely false. The activities that take place in sports are not completely risk free, but they are much less dangerous than other forms of exercise, and the health benefits drastically outway any dangers. The pressures and competition benefits adolescents by helping them stay healthy, gain life skills, and provides college opportunities, all from participating in a sport activity.
