High school senior students have the most difficult year then other grade levels since they have activities and the mandatory senior paper. Do you think that students in high school have as much fun as they tell their parents when they get home at the end of the day? High school has been known as “hell” to many students from freshman to seniors in high school. Students don’t tell their parents as much as they should now, then before the twenty first century. Since the tennagers wont tell their parents, most all of high school students struggle to keep their grades up during their senior year. Seniors stop their usual sleep schedule and are more tired when in school as they try to finish the difficult essay they must finish in a tight deadline. Some students have jobs, which makes their sleep schedule already short during the week day. Adding a senior paper makes seniors stress more, than some resort to drastic measures including no sleep, copying others that have finished, and even paying others for them to finish their own without doing anything. Stress can lead to rage against the other student’s opinion which can be dangerous for younger classes and other classmates. More stress will cause the senior to begin to think that they can’t do it and some will stop entirely and not finish high school, becoming a dropout. Dropping out of high school can make the student’s life so much harder in the future as they apply for a job or when they must pay their taxes alone. Each student in the senior class have the same struggle with the senior paper that can provide conflict and solutions all in itself when others get together and help one another or can make friendships fall apart because of the opinions being expressed. There are many more troubling issues that linger through this
The idea of having to go to school every day for at least twelve years conjures a lot of different emotions – some may be excited about the idea of learning new things and exploring their minds, while others may be exasperated just by imagining the curriculum they must complete during this time span. The article, “Let’s Really Reform Our Schools,” written by Anita Garland, explains how we can help our schools and make them a better learning place. In order to get high schools to be a better place to learn would be to throw out the “punks”, have the schools get uniforms, change junk foods to healthy foods, and get rid of prom and competitive sports. After all of this, the students who want to learn, can do that without all of the distractions.
Generally, grades begin to drop since students do not have time to finish homework, but some students have their minds’ set to achieve perfect grades so they sacrifice sleep and begin to gain more stress. High school is one of those milestones in an individual’s life that will be remembered for a long time to come. Whether one’s experiences are positive and allow him to find his purpose in life or whether they are so terrible that his view of education is tainted forever, what happens in high school affects how one’s future will turn out. Leon Botstein, author of “Let Teenagers Try Adulthood,” states that the traditional high school system should be abolished because it is not benefitting teenagers. He states that cliques of popularity and athleticism and teachers who care more about money than education stand in the way of proper learning for teenagers. Botstein further argues that school stifles students creativity and that they really do not want to be in school. His argument that the traditional high school setting should be abolished is somewhat justified on the fact that cliques make schooling experiences difficult; however, his statement that children’s creativity is stifled, they are bored in high school, and that they are ready to be adults at a young age is invalid.
Alexandra Ossola, a graduate of the liberal arts college Hamilton College, wrote an article called “High-Stress High School”, in hopes of addressing the growing concern that high school students are stressed to the point of degrading their health. There are many different opinions about the differences between faith and reason. Traditionally viewed differences between reason and faith are that reason is something that requires empirical, factual evidence while faith relies merely on, well, faith. For something to have reason it must have some kind of factual evidence to make it true, or at least very good sound reasoning to believe that whatever it is, is factual. Faith is far from something that attains empirical evidence, faith usually relies on personal accounts which are usually of mystical content. Many philosophers have different opinions about how the two can coexist; some say under no circumstances at all, while others claim they can justify each other, and some claim faith is reason alone. Some philosophers claim that believing in God is an obvious choice by the claim that just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there like Blaise Pascal. Blasé Pascal and Clifford offer two completely different standpoints on the role of reason and faith.
Imagine if East Jordan high school offered several elective and AP classes to students. Imagine how it could benefit the students of East Jordan Public schools. It would offer much more to students. East Jordan high school use to have many elective classes like: Forensics, Environmental sciences, Creative writing, honors biology, and advance writing, but now the high school does not offer enough elective and AP classes. East Jordan high school must add more classes because they help with schedules, college, and preparedness.
As an upcoming senior you will think that your senior year will be stress less. But that not the case it will be filled with work on top of work. During my senior year I didn't think senioritis was real until I have to actually do work I didn't feel like doing . Once I got to the second quarter I was completely check out and ready to graduate. As a senior myself I didn't do some of my homework, I was getting low test scores, and not coming to school. Senioritis is real and after the first quarter you will feel like it's no purpose. So it's important to stay motivated and avoid laziness.

How to Deal With StressMany students go to school full time, and hold a part time job to earn money for school. Most students have about four classes, and each of the teacher’s of these classes gives an average of about an hour of homework each night; that averages out to four hours per night of homework, plus a part time job. School causes a lot of students stress because there are so many things to do, and so little time to do it. Stress is a normal part of everyone’s life; and is not a disease. It is not necessarily good or bad; however, reactions to stress can be harmful. Lack of time puts the stress on many students, and causes students to often procrastinate because they are constantly trying to meet deadlines and they don’t have the time to work on their assignments. Many students feel their grades are important; they need plenty of time to work on their work so they can do good. I can relate to them because if I get a low grade I get disgusted because I put a lot of time and effort in doing that assignment. But I think that a lot of the stress from school is caused, not only by the teachers, but also from the students to do well. Students put too much stress on themselves. A student just has to learn to manage their time well and just do as good as possible. Stress management involves the effort of that student to make emotional and physical changes.
Everyone has daily burdens and responsibilities that they would prefer to avoid rather than begin. For college students that burden becomes anything relating to college academics, from homework assignments, to essays due next week, or projects. The stress that they endure from the pressures of parents, teachers, colleges, and peers have many physical as well as mental effects on every student, some more harmful than others. The extreme pressure on students to get perfect grades so that they will be accepted into a college has diminished the concept of actually learning and has left the art of “finagling the system” in order to succeed in its place (Palmer, 2005). There are many ways that should be implemented in order to reduce the stress on students so that they can thrive because, withoutthem, the school systems will only be creating generations of stressed out, materialistic, and miseducated students (Palmer, 2005).
