High School = High Standards
High school “Best years of your life”, “Your friends forever”, “you need to make friends”, “sports are for the popular people”. All silly things that people fill one’s head with. For most this is never true. The best thing one can do in high school is please themselves. The worst thing to do in high school is to force yourself to fit in. One’s wants and needs vary from person to person. So just because there is a bigger group that enjoys the opposite of one doesn’t mean that you should conform just to have friends. True friends are better than fake ones. The more in touch a person can get with oneself in situations where you have to pretend, the more you let other people shape you, when really the only person who should be able to do that is you. In the past many have experienced that having no friends at all is better than having fake friends. Fake friends make many feel lonelier then having no friends. High school is a time for many opportunities, however, there are two that shine brightest in importance. Firstly, to be academically successful and secondly, to become comfortable with oneself and in one’s everyday life. For many, high school is not the best years of one’s life, its only four short bull shit years that honestly won’t mean anything to others when one graduates and moves on with their life’s. For most cases, the friends made in the college have a longer lasting relationship in the future than those made in high school.
After a month of classes, I went to Madison to visit some of my friends that attend Madison. By the end of the weekend I missed Platteville so much and realized the friends I had made back home were no longer worth my time. In the 3-4 weeks of college I became so in touch...

...ng you’re not. Step three: I’m just fucking with you there are no steps although those first two should be life goals no matter what. High school is full of people who will either like you or don’t. Please don’t be hurt if people don’t like you because they clearly have poor taste in people if you are nice and honest. Do your part in being a good person lead by example, I bet a lot of people will like you if you do that over conforming.
So in high school just shut out your silly stereotypical movie laws to being a high schooler because this isn’t High School Musical, or Grease, or Mean Girls. Because let’s be honest you don’t even go there. We aren’t all in this together, we are here to get into college and make something out of ourselves, the faster you realize that the faster you will be successful. So, you better shape up, cause to your education you must be true.
Every person has different personalities that they develop during different stages in life. Many personalities start with parents and how they educate their children. That is the basis of who someone is. Once you get older you start to finally try and figure out who you are. High school can be either the best or the worst place to figure it out. High school is usually thought of a new scary place when starting freshmen year. There are kids who will be older and you will meet different types of people that you might have never met before. The way parents treat their kids can affect their school life. Meaning that if student’s lives at home are not good living conditions that can cause a gap between other students at school. The movie Carrie made in 1976, Carrie was bullied at school but also in way by the hands of her mother who also bullied her at home.
Making the transition from middle school to high school is a huge stepping stone in a teenager’s life. High school represents both the ending of a childhood and the beginning of adulthood. It’s a rite of passage and often many teens have the wrong impression when beginning this passage. Most began high school with learning the last thing on their mind. They come in looking for a story like adventure and have a false sense of reality created through fabricated movie plots acted out by fictional characters. In all actuality high school is nothing like you see in movies, television shows, or what you read about in magazines.
The real world can seem like a daunting place to the average high school student, especially when the pressures of high school seem difficult to handle. Sometimes, everything gets to be too much, and the student decides to start life a little early, cut education short, and drop out.
When going into high school the same friends you have in freshmen year aren’t the same in senior year. Strong Friendship is always hard to get, I knew who my real friends were after every year in high school ended. By the end of my senior year I had almost all the same friends except for three or four. But there was this one girl who stayed and she been my best friend since then we have had tough time and we have broken up but we always come back to each other. During the break ups I never treated anybody special like I did with her somehow I knew she was going to come back. The theme was always in my life and it showed me that not all my good friends are going to stay but when you have a best friend they’re always going to be
Imagine being alone with no friends and no one to talk to. Now, place yourself in a location where you are surrounded by closed tight-knit groups where acceptance from those groups is a challenge to obtain. Then, picture yourself back when you were in high school, but this time, apply the image you have created for yourself. Do you wish for acceptance? Or friendship? Do you feel confident in taking the challenges that high school will bring? High school has a significant impact on an individual’s development. Whether it is their personality or behavior, an individual who goes through high school can see changes in their characteristics. A common stereotype in high school that is largely portrayed in the media is the existence of cliques. Cliques can give an individual a sense of belonging or a sense of betrayal. These two behaviors are commonly seen with the acceptance or rejection from these groups. An immediate result from these two actions is a change in morale or confidence for that individual. Cliques exist in high school due to individual conformity. An individual conforms to the group in order to feel accepted or to feel secured. Groups or cliques in high school have a significant negative effect on an individual’s development of characteristic and personality and the reasons as to why individuals join these types are not justified.
College students who have the opportunity to attend a university rather than a community college will find that the process of making friends is an easier one. Making friends while being in college has many factors strung a lot with it. Universities present a bigger opportunity of creating lasting friendships by providing more of a social life with dorm room living, greater social events and lounges for students to hangout at all through the day. The process of making a friend is a very unique one, and it does not come easy to everyone. In all reality, attending a university over a community college is the better approach when wanting to be socially active and meeting a variety of friends.
Say you’re the new kid at your high school. If you had two choices, to fit in or to “not stand out”, which would you choose? Personally, I think adolescence is really about fitting in more than standing out. Sometimes, a lot of kids fit into a certain group of people because they stand out from the normal standards of adolescent society. The people to blame for this issue, I believe, is not the adolescent even though they practice such behaviors; I believe the media has a great deal of fault for the appeal to fit in. School’s also have a role in this problem as well as the parents. I believe that schools don’t help or try to see the problem of ‘bubbles’ and some parents try to encourage the idea of fitting in.
Before coming to college I had many people tell me that I would make my best friends in college. Whenever I told anyone that I was going to Kansas State University in the fall they would rant and rave about how much fun I would have. Everyone I talked to told me it would be fun for many different reasons but the one thing that everyone mentioned was the friendships I would form. I became really excited to get to Manhattan and have a bunch of great friends. I had some really good high school friends and they will always be important to me but, I was ready to find out what was so special about college friends. I started to become a little nervous. What if I got to college and I didn’t form any of these incredible friendships? What if it just
I have been to so many different schools that I cannot even count them all using all 10 fingers. You would think that by now I would be used to being the new kid, but with every move it just gets harder and harder. I have learned that it is harder to be the new kid when you are older versus when you are younger. As a kid it is cool to be the new kid and everyone wants to be your friend. In high school it is the complete opposite. Unless you approach them, most high school students won’t even bother talking to you. Every time that I think I have finally made a friend, I am almost immediately shot down. I am beginning to feel like I don’t belong
Freshman year of high school always seems to be the tougher year. People you thought were friends end up changing their ways and become a whole new person. High school is when a person’s personality really shows. Everyone finds who they are inside, and they find others like them. Some try to move up the popularity pole, and will do anything to reach the top. Others seem to just fade away out of existence because of drugs. My friend Todd was one that just disappeared from my life.
Integrity, or being morally and ethically correct in addition to honest and sincere whilst holding a united front is something that cannot be achieved by following a set of rules. Personal Integrity is ‘being true to thine own self’ in the face of all opposers and obstacles. I try my best to continue to advocate for myself and my passions in front of all audience using my most moral, ethical, honest, and sincere appeals. I believe my first act of integrity was committing to Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School in the sixth grade. There is nothing more true to myself than my gender and ethnicity and Irma Rangel YWLS, a predominantly Hispanic and African American school, allows me to embrace these two basic characteristics of my person.
Still haven’t gotten their head out of high school, wanting to be with your friends has a right place and the right time. College is where you get serious and focus on your future. You will meet new friends that have the same interests you have. College students should not be allowed to select their own classes because they will just see it as another high school year. The essential component to success is through education, and by that we need to have the responsibility needed to independezize ourselves from priorities and wants.
Some college students regret not socializing more and meeting new friends. Some tends to stick on their own cliques and are afraid or uncomfortable to meet new people.
You know, it is really strange how quickly time passes, after spending my whole childhood wishing I was an adult, now here we are and it's a little hard to grasp. It feels like just yesterday I was standing here in the same position at eighth grade graduation. Ahh, middle school, such a joyous time for all of us, free of maturity and not a care in the world. The biggest decisions I ever had to make then was deciding which group to stand with at passing time and choosing which shirt from my extensive collection of Stussy and No Feat apparel to wear. We were all naive to the danger that lurked just around the corner. We were unaware that the carefree world we lived in was about to come crashing to the ground in a blazing inferno of real school work and responsibility ... otherwise known as high school.
Having friends is a natural occurrence in most lives. The majority of people do not think of going anywhere without their friends, especially teenagers. Where these ordinary teens find their acquaintances is in high school. It is where friends are made and hold a substantial role in the students’ lives. High school students choose their friends for various reasons, and some of their choices may result in positive and negative effects.
