Taking a retrospective journey to my high-school days, I vividly remember the mixed feelings that I had in choosing a program that would help me shape my career in academics and religious studies. I always made myself clear that I should select a field of study that would give me room to explore, hone my skills, and ultimately shape my ideals. Right from the beginning of my career, I have been involved in pursuing religious studies and was committed to teaching children. I enrolled myself for Bachelor’s degree in Religious studies as my area of specialization in the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Charlotte, NC. This degree has helped me to hone my skill sets in describing, comparing, interpreting, and explaining religion. In addition, my graduation helped me to understand the significance of religion and its impact on people. After completion of my Bachelor’s degree, I pursued a master’s degree in Urban Ministry Studies in Martin University in Indianapolis, IN. This education helped me to building my leadership skills and also provided me the scope for developing my analytical and communication skills. I found that when we let these other aspects of our lives, whether it be bills, work or exams, we often allow reality to fade into the background. Or perhaps we could look at it this way: Our lives get so busy and hectic that we tend to put God on the back burner. Christian education whether in a university or biblical studies at home will give us guidance through our hectic lives, renewing our minds and keep us in close connection with our Creator and the rest of His Creation. Plantinga sums up Christian education as “for the kingdom of God. It equips us to be agents of the kingdom, models of the kingdom in our own lives and communities, witnesses to the kingdom wherever we go in the world.” (pg.143) When we ‘put on the full armor of God’ we not only protect ourselves from this fallen world but we are also able to project God’s glory to all those who we encounter.
When I was young, I was always told to do the best I can possibly can and achieve the best of grades. To be flawless and to be exemplary at everything I do. These sayings said to me mostly by my Mom, have led me and helped me to, in many ways become preeminent in my education. As I was growing up those sayings have helped me to achieve excellence wherever possible, and most of the time over achieve excellence.

I will continue to seek education in the disciplines of psychology and theology. I will progress to build upon the biblical foundation established, through my bachelors’ degree (a double major in Education and Bible), by means of continued reading in the disciplines, scripture, and through observation of the world around me. Ultimately, may all I do reflect my love for God with all my heart, soul, and mind and may I love my neighbor as myself (Matthew 22:37-39).
Since my first visit at the Air Force Academy as a young boy, I instantly realized this is where I want to go. Ironically, I never why I wanted to go, was it my parents will or the expectations of others and myself? As I started to mature and grow, I learned more about the academy and what it really meant to become a cadet. The opportunity to have a world class education pushed me to pursue acceptance to the Academy. Going to the Summer Seminar will give me a chance to explore many aspects of cadet life to further enrich my interest in the Academy.
I would like to thank Salish Kootenai College for giving me the wonderful opportunity of applying for STEM academy. If somebody had told me that I would be applying for college classes as a sophomore, I would not have believed them. My parents have always told me that when an opportunity comes, you should take it, and I do not plan on letting this experience go to waste. Education has been a big part of my life, and this academy can only help me move forward. That being said, here are a few reasons why I should be considered a candidate for the STEM academy. Joining the STEM academy will allow me to further my knowledge and help me to get closer to my goals, my academic career would flourish, and I would be closer to my ambition for my future. I am determined to become the best and most educated version of myself that I can possibly be.
I’m currently enrolled in Montgomery College, located in Maryland. Montgomery College is a community college. Community colleges are different in comparison to four-year universities. I had a choice of either getting a job or going to college. There are many reasons why I choose to go to Montgomery College. I chose to go to college because I want to pursue a degree in Psychology. When choosing a college, there are a lot of decisions to make and you have to choose what’s best in your interest. In today’s society, community colleges take up a lot of the students going to pursue their education. President Obama has proposed to make all community colleges free for all Americans and I agree with this statement. People have different perspectives

It seems as though the future of chaplaincy is in the balance. Do chaplains move with the times, accept change and development, work towards professional status or do they maintain the status quo, remain important to the well-being of the whole community but fail to communicate this and risk extinction or at best compassionate tolerance? More than ever society demands that employees prove their value through research, audit and refining of practice chaplains are part of this! Alongside retaining their distinctive role as those who are accountable to their faith communities chaplains need to ensure they articulate their distinctive role as those who care for the spiritual. This involves time, energy and action and being in many roles simultaneously. It involves being prepared to assess and review practice and above all to change.
While looking at different curriculums, there is a big importance of looking at the different methods of teaching students to grow faith development. To look at the effectiveness of the different curriculums when coming to teaching the grades from third through fifth grade I reviewed Concordia Publishing House’s “Growing in Christ- Middle Grades” compared to Faith Inkubator’s, “My Bible.” Looking at both of the curriculums, I used how they used the family, technology, and different ways of learning to show which was more effective in teaching students. I believe that Faith Inkubator’s “My Bible” is the more effective curriculum.

In the course of my education during college I plan to study at either Cedarville University or Moody Bible institute. At cedarville I plan to study elementary education with an extension of special education. I choose this major because I love working with children especially those who need extra help because it challenges me and my character and also helps the child develop.Also I have been accepted to this school. During my last two years of highschool I have been in a vocational program working with children ages six months to five years of age. I remember as a child being fascinated by the notion that clergy came to their work because they were called to do so. With a brother-in-law in his thirty-fifth year of ministry, I see the necessity of that call as the commitment he has made to service has been extraordinary. Having been brought up in a very conservative theology, in other words, in a very legalistic kind of setting, at the beginning you was very difficult.
