Many similarities and differences arise between High Noon and The Most Dangerous Game. The amount of violence the two fictional stories have is an insurmountable quantity. What's contrary amidst the two are that the hero of High Noon, Will Kane, is currently living in a town where he gets married to a Quaker; while the supposed hero for The Most Dangerous Game, Sanger Rainsford, is stuck on an island after falling off of a boat. High Noon and The Most Dangerous Game do also revolve around hunting. Kane is being hunted down to burden the revenge, Frank has kept over the years, as where, Rainsford is in a life-threatening situation. Though Kane gets the girl and is the hero, he is still left unaided. In The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford eventually wins, but he also becomes a sadist. Therefore, both stories deliver a bittersweet ending. …show more content…
Surprisingly, the known-to-be villains even have their differences.
Frank Mitchell sought revenge from Will Kane, whilst Zaroff desired entertainment in its cruelest forms. Frank does try his best to kill and avenge Kane for putting him behind bars, but ultimately he is only the 'said' villain. With, General Zaroff it was completely different. He had been in the right place at the right time yet he let Rainsford win, "Then he turned his back on the tree and walked carelessly away, back along the trail he had come," (Connell ). " "Why had the general smiled? Why had he turned back? The general was playing with him! The general was saving him for another day's sport!" (Connell ). Granting, the main goal of the two villains is to
kill. Our heroes, Kane and Rainsford have a balanced comparison as well. To some decree, they both have a mission to kill, but their purpose for the heinous crime is for self-defense. Kane attempts and succeeds to kill the antagonist in High Noon, Frank Mitchell, with many difficulties for the sake of justice. Rainsford has an asset to strive for his life with the 'game' General Zaroff proposed to play. And he needs to live to win, even if that means killing would occur at any given point of the three delaying days. Shockingly, the said hero turns bad. Rainsford does end up winning the game by killing Zaroff, but he becomes the 'new' Zaroff. Instead of fleeing the island, Rainsford sleeps in the same bed the acrimonious brute slept on, withstanding the knowledge of prisoners in the cellar. "He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided," (Connell 232).
There are many similarities and differences between the story “The Most Dangerous Game” and the episode of Gilligan's Island that we watched. Some similarities include: someone is being hunted, the setting is similar, and both victims get away in the end. Some differences include: the moods of the stories, the strategies that are used by the huntees, and how the hunter got to the island.
The two story High Noon and "The Most Dangerous Game" are alike in some ways, but very different in many other ways also. High Noon is a story about an honest man named will khan; Who is a Marshall that has sent a prisoner to jail named frank Miller. Who has now come out of jail to get revenge on will. When will needs the towns people of hadleyville for help to defeat frank when he comes after will no one helps. In the other hand "The Most Dangerous Game" is about two very skilled hunter between Rainsford who get trapped on Ship-Trap island by Zaroff who owns the island. When Rainsford realizes what Zaroff hunts in his island he must leave as soon as possible. Zaroff tells Rainsford he could either hunt with him or against him.
“The Most Dangerous Game” is about a man named Rainsford. When Rainsford falls off a yacht and has to swim to the nearest island, he meets a general named, General Zaroff, who became disinterested with hunting animals, so he switched to hunting humans as a game. He tricks ships into thinking that there is a channel they can sail through, but then
After reading the stories “The Most Dangerous Games” and “The Cask of Amontillado”, “The Most Dangerous games” is my treasured of the two stories. The reason why I like “ The Most Dangerous Games” as a result the story is about hunting and I love to hunt. For example on the first day of the hunt for Rainsford, Rainsford tried to make a hard to follow him. After that he made a log and tied it to gather and then he put some of the strings over a branch and hid behind a log less than one hundred feet away. Next traps Rainsford dug next to the Quicksand and he put long like stakes pear in the bottom of the pothole and then climb a tree not far away. His plan didn’t direct the way he intended . He had retrieved a couple of the mongrel instead
The Interlopers is about the two rival families and their hunting feud. The Dangerous game also has a rivalry between Rainsford and a German huntsman. The two stories also both had groups of people with a plan filled with violence and murder. The one family in the Interlopers, were hunting on their own land, as was the German man in the Dangerous game. Both of these struggles take place in a natural environment as both enemies seek to kill their opponent, and thus both stories represent a desperate struggle to survive and to outlive the other.
Are friends the best resources when in need? Yes, no? Well in these stories they are. Like in Harry Potter, he used his friends all the time like when he is wondering Voldemort is still really still alive who are the people that he comes to…his friends. Or in The Maze Runner Thomas when thomas is wondering about if he should go out in the maze and face the greevier’s. Who are the people that he goes to...his friends! In these two stories Harry Potter and The Maze Runner there are some similarities, but there are also some differences.
The story The Most Dangerous Game says, “his pipe;striking a rope, was knocked from his mouth. He lunged for it...he realized he reached too far.” When he dropped his pipe he tried to grab for it but reached to far and ended up falling into the sea. The next conflict Rainsford faced was either to play the game with Zaroff or go with Ivan. While reading this story Zaroff says “you'll find this game worth playing.” Rainsford didn’t think he would have to play the game but Zaroff said he either has to play or go with Ivan and be killed. The last conflict Rainsford faced was hiding from Zaroff. The story said, “the job was finished and he threw himself down behind a log 100 feet away.” Rainsford has to be smart when he is hiding, so he built a trap for Zaroff to be stuck under. Finally, during the story Rainsford overcame many
Being hunted on an island is an experience like no other, whether it is a film or a short story. “The Most Dangerous Game” started off as a short-story, but was later turned into a film. Like many other films, the director has done some adjustments that differ from the short-story. The plot, setting, and characters were revised from the original form in the short-story. However, the difference in the characters was the most influential part that changed throughout the film.
The setting in the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” has many similarities and differences to the setting in “The Interlopers”. Though the settings differ in many ways, for example the danger of them and their contents, they are also similar in their mystery and vitality to the plot. These two pieces of writing hold many of the same ideas, but they also are original works that portray them in their own way.
Throughout our lives, it seems when we have no one else to help us, our most challenging problems occur leaving ourselves to use our wit and emotion to persevere. People can have test or a big game where we have teachers and coaches to help us prepare and succeed. However, in the movie, High Noon, a Marshall named Will Kane is faced with a challenge of an arriving Frank Miller looking to kill. In the short story, "The Most Dangerous Game", a hunger named Rainsford is deserted on a island after he fell off his yacht, and he would soon find out a sociopath with the unique taste for hunting down humans was out for him. With the two characters in these suspense-building products somewhat trapped we can take out many lessons and ideas from the action packed movie and short story. The movie, High Noon, and the short story, "The Most Dangerous Game, are alike and at the same time very different.
To begin with, the setting for “The Most Dangerous Game” is very fitting. The author, Richard Connell, picked the best place to set the story. Reason being, the mansion is on a large island that is feared by everyone. Also the mansion, on the outside at least, looks scary. Since it was dark out and there were cliffs surrounding the house, there was a scary shadow that was cast down. While on the yacht, Sanger Rainsford, the main character or protagonist, came across this island and asked for the name. His friend Whitney replied, “The old charts call it ‘Ship Trap Island’,” (Connell). Ship Trap Island is the name of the island. It doesn’t sound like a happy place to be but it is the dark and violent thoughts and feelings that come with the title, which perfectly fits the theme of the story. Another form of proof, to tell where the story took place is in this quote, “…the blood-warm waters of the Caribbean Sea dosed over his head” (Connell). Rainsford went to get a closer look to see the island more clearly by stepping on the rail. He lost his balance and fell...
In Summary, both stories were interesting enough to hold the attentiveness of a devout reader. Though they weren’t identical in every element, they both held similarities that contributed to the reader becoming engulfed with eagerness to continue reading. “The Destructors” by Graham Greene and “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell reveal similarities in both conflict, and brilliant use of suspense in a ploy to keep the reader engaged.
The most dangerous game by Richard Connell and The sound of thunder by Ray Bradbury have two main characters that are very similar. The the similarities between Rainsford and Eckels are more than abundant for comparing. The biggest similarity between Rainsford and Eckels are hunting.
Sanger Rainsford has to overcome many obstacles he faces to not become what he fears, the hunted. When he is sprinting away from General Zaroff he has to fight the urge to quit, and he has to fight the battle of “The Most Dangerous Game.” He is running from the hounds, Ivan, and General Zaroff, when he arrives at a safe place he thinks about how close he was to becoming what he fears. Nevertheless, Sanger Rainsford out wits everything he has experienced and wins “The Most Dangerous Game.”
