Have you ever had your future all laid out for you? Everything was going to go your way, and happen perfectly. Your plan would lead you to success, but then disaster strikes. You’re walking across the street, then life hits you with a 10,000 pound truck. You’re put into a coma, and don’t wake up for a whole year. Missing out on a lot of important things in your plan that transpired… Well, that didn’t exactly happen to my hero, but it’s basically the same principle. Ben LeCompte IV grew up playing soccer, and loved the game. He loved the fact that you could forget about your problems for 80 minutes, and just play a game without a worry in the world. He lined up 14 yards back just like he was supposed to. He got ready in his stance, ready to receive the snap. He catches the snap, brings it down to his drop table, takes his steps, lets go of the ball, and punts it. As he watches the ball fly, he feels a sharp, shooting pain in his groin area, near his kicking leg. He collapses, and gets carried off the field. After he gets off the field, the trainer looks at it and diagnoses him with a torn hip flexor. His season was over, and so were the college offers. His future, gone.
This stopped ben dead in his tracks for some time. He was mad at what God had done to him. He questioned God as to why he had done this. He was mad that all of his scholarship offers had disappeared. This showed in his everyday life. Jamie Kohl noticed this and told him to stop being such a brat and get over it. So, Ben listened to his advice, and kept on with his life.
This happened to work, because just before national signing day, he got a call from NDSU's head coach, Craig Bohl. He asked Ben to join the team, and Ben happily agreed. He hasn't regretted the decision, and has loved life
