Hera's Erosion: A Short Story Of The Town

It’s been here for so many years, and nobody questions it. Myths have been passed down through many generations, saying the government did it to keep them quarantined from contaminated and diseased humans. They didn’t know if others existed out of The Town; or if they were the last of their kind. The Walls, made of large cement blocks, covered in mildew and moss were stacked for almost fifty feet. Erosion caused small indentations, letting the bugs use them as homes. Hera, at twenty years old, knew from her parents that she would grow up to be a “lady”; cooking, taking care of the children and Hera didn’t like cooking; always getting distracted and burning the food.

With nowhere to hide she ran towards The Wall. But it was too late, Link woke her up, before anything happened to her. Link saved her from a night of terror. A loud bang was heard from the chief’s hut, a town meeting was being called for nobody knew what the reason was, it had to be serious.
Chief Jay, tall brown and aged, held his face high, his eyes sunken as if he didn’t get enough sleep. “I call upon a law, a law that will help the rest of our humanity and race.” Faces of confusion surrounded the hut. “Our town is facing the biggest battle of its time, a struggle we must learn to conquer, for our ancestors will give us strength to pray for our God of Water, Thurgau. We are drastically losing our water of life, one we need to feed our young and our divine food. We are all here as a community to pray as a whole and let our god free us. Our waters are running low and our crops are drying up, therefore I am mandating that every man of the house take charge of making limitations. I hereby command every hut to use less than one gallon a day and pray to Thurgau every day, for five hours.”
And with the end of the meeting, everyone left worried. Link searched for Hera towards the wall, knowing she didn’t want to hear another lecture from her father of these new rules.
