I work for Hendrickson International Commercial Vehicle Systems, the number one semi trailer suspension manufacturer in the world. Our mission statement is " Hendrickson will build value for our employees, customers and stakeholders by delivering timely, cost-effective and innovative ride solutions to advance the global commercial transportation industry," (Hendrickson, n.d.). A mission statement should include the company's purpose, identify their products, and give their reason for providing the products (Kinicki, 2016). Our mission statement meets this criteria in that it describes our purpose as "building value for employees, customers, and stakeholders," it identifies our products as "timely, cost-effective and innovative ride solutions," and …show more content…

A vision statement should describe the company's goal of who they will be in the future, their definition of success, and actions needed to realize the future goals (Kinicki, 2016). Hendrickson's vision statement does not communicate this information as effectively as the mission statement achieved its goal. The longer version of the vision provided is not very clear or concise as it uses incomplete sentences and does not transition well from one point to another. The shorter statement of "the world rides on us" does communicate the goal of obtaining so much of the market that nearly all commercial loads are carried on our products (Hendrickson, n.d.). The vision statement should be more clearly defined with complete but concise statements that identify details about the company's future identity, definition of success, and how those goals will be
