Recommended: Culture and traditions of whale riders

“Whale Rider” was heartfelt and full of girl power. The movie has a cute, inspiring, lead, unique setting, and relatable story that can only be fully experienced if you “sea” it for yourself. A young girl, nicknamed Pai, lives with her grandparents in New Zealand following the death of her mother. She is struck with a choice of living with her father in Germany or remaining with her grandparents. She also endures many conflicts with her grandpa. The plot, however, isn’t the best part of the movie. The lead made the movie great. Pai was a necessary and powerful piece of the message, conveyed by her conflicts and how she overcame them. I was especially rooting for Pai’s rebelliousness towards her grandfather when she was caught secretly participating

He also tends to be her way of venting because she doesn’t know how to tell her parents how upset she is. After her graduation she starts as a secretary where she meets her eventual husband William Anglin who repeatedly asks her out, but is unable to up until he is leaving for basic training for WWII. These families were very different, yet so much alike, they both portrayed what to me the whole ‘message’ of the movie was. It wasn’t like one person’s pain was easier to handle than another is that’s like saying Vietnam was harder on those men than on the men that stood for black rights or vice versa, everyone faced these equally hard issues.
