Healthy People 2030 started in 1980 by Surgeon General Julius Richmond, who issued a landmark report titled?Healthy People: Healthy Prevention and Disease Prevention. Healthy people 2030 was redone each year to improve the findings that were found. In 1990 they focused on decreasing the number of deaths and increasing freedom for older adults. There were goals that guided them to help people be healthy. Healthy People 2030 has a goal of improving the quality of life and reducing health problems. The four overarching goals are to attain high quality of life, achieve health fairness, create a social and physical environment, and promote quality of life. These overarching goals have carried through until we continue to build on more information to this day (History of Healthy People, 2021). The New York State Department of Health is suffering from the opioid outbreak. They focus on the opioid outbreak through statewide preventions for people using it. They coordinated statewide community programs to help improve the effectiveness of people using opioids. The New York State Department of Health has made efforts to help prevent people from using drugs by producing resources to assist communities at the local level. There are prevention sites where drug users can go to use safe injections and not use the same needle. Also around the community they have numbers on your local hospitals to call if they want help.
