Health Promotion and Health Maintenance in Adolescence Adolescence subdivides into the early, middle, and late periods; this is to differentiate a 13-year old from an 18-year old, as these two age groups vary in growth and development. Therefore, the nurse must take in account the variations in response to therapy along with symptoms of illness expected during adolescence. Analysing health behaviours of an adolescent grants the nurse a more effective health outcome; therefore, as a result the nursing interventions would be more competent. In addition to, a health assessment enhances more the nurse-patient relationship.
The motives of the health evaluation are to depict the health issues, strengths, beliefs, and risky health behaviours, which improve the quality of life of a patient. A baseline established on the initial health evaluation is essential as consecutive assessments can be analysed and compared. The Bindler-Ball Healthcare Model permits the nurse to incorporate all elements of healthcare when it comes to delivering the care to an adolescent.
Assessing adolescents is accessible through a variety of settings such as, schools, clinics, sports-related encounters, and family planning clinics.
