C-ASIST, an organization that is helping people all the time. They are helping people with and without health insurance. C-ASIST, is a non-profit organization that helps low-income families and underserved communities here in Michigan. They are primarily based here in Dearborn and their target audience are people living here, but people from any community can come and get the help they need. While they’re mainly known for the free health clinic they offer, they also have a mental health project going on and a food pantry. They started a free health clinic because many people between the ages of 18 and 65 do not health insurance. Many of us take for granted our health insurance and how much it really does for us. People rely on it more than think think; we go to the doctor, get prescribed medications, get tests done, or go to specialist. Our health insurance covers all that or most of it and very little comes out of our pocket. The people that do have health insurance should not take it for granted and should think about the people who do not have it and someone should find a way to help them out. The leaders of C-ASIST found a way to help by starting this clinic. Others can help out by volunteering at the free health clinics held the second Saturday of every month. At the health clinics, C-ASIST provides multiple services.
