Health Care Team Tiers

There are several tiers of medical proffesionals that build ones health care team. Though no position is greater or more important than the other, ones health care would not be complete without all components. from the top of the chain to the bottom of the tiers each position plays an important adn specialized role in completing a patients health care assessment and care. At the top of the chain are doctors, illustrating and onducting proper orders for his/her team to follow is only part of this indivisuals role. Primary Care doctors focus on preventive mediciane such as check-ups, screenings, immunizations, and medical counseling. Specialized Physicians diagnose and treat conditions that require a special area of knowledge and practice. While playing a daunting role in the health of a patient the physician has the highest level of education. Practicing medicine under the physician is the (PA) Physician Assistant. A PA is licensed to practice medicine under the strict supervision of a medical doctor. (LPN)Licensed Practical Nurses, (RN)Registered Nurses, and (APN) Advanced practical Nurses all play a a smiliar role in health care. LPN's are being phased out due to the inability to perform IV therapy and several invasive technique limited assessments. the level of edication and the strict rules of their license will not allow it. RN's however, can place prescriptions, do physical exams, diagnose, and make referalls for specialists. RN's are registered and licensed by their said state and must register their license if state of practice is different. APN's have a larger scope of practice, more experiencce, and higher level of education. ADvanced Pratice Nurses are specialists ina particular medical field and knowldegable inside and out in this
