Health Care workers are constantly faced with legal and ethical issues every day during the course of their work. It is important that the health care workers have a clear understanding of these legal and ethical issues that they will face (1). In the case study analysed key legal and ethical issues arise during the initial decision-making of the incident, when the second ambulance crew arrived, throughout the treatment and during the transfer of patient to the hospital. The ethical issues in this case can be described as what the paramedic believes is the right thing to do for the patient and the legal issues control what the law describes that the paramedic should do in this situation (2, 3). It is therefore important that paramedics also
The cost of Medical equipment plays a significant role in the delivery of health care. The clinical engineering at Victoria Hospital is an important branch of the hospital team management that are working to strategies ways to improve quality of service and lower cost repairs of equipments. The team members from Biomedical and maintenance engineering’s roles are to ensure utilization of quality equipments such as endoscope and minimize length of repair time. All these issues are a major influence in the hospital’s project cost. For example, Victory hospital, which is located in Canada, is in the process of evaluating different options to decrease cost of its endoscope repair. This equipment is use in the endoscopy department for gastroenterological and surgical procedures. In 1993, 2,500 cases where approximately performed and extensive maintenance of the equipment where needed before and after each of those cases. Despite the appropriate care of the scope, repair requirement where still needed. The total cost of repair that year was $60,000 and the repair services where done by an original equipment manufacturers in Ontario.

Summers, N. (2009). Fundamentals of case management practice: skills for the human services, 3rd Edition. Belmont, CA: Cengage Learning.
The concept of Case management has was first introduced in the 1970’s by insurance companies as a way to monitor and control costly health insurance claims, commonly created by a catastrophic accident or illness (Jacob & Cherry, 2007). Today almost every major health care organization has a case management program managing and directing the use of health care services for their clients. Also, case management by payer organizations is recognized as external case management.
Related cases contain ideas very similar to the main concept, but they differ when examined carefully (Walker & Avant, 2005). Tori, a nurse in her first year of practice in the ER, received Betty, a 72-year-old female with diagnosis of high blood pressure. Betty’s medical history consists of hypertension and alcoholism. Betty, who lives alone, was found by her daughter after multiple attempts to reach her mom on the phone. Betty was semi-comatose and apparently intoxicated. Her daughter called 911 and Betty was transported to the ER via ambulance. Due to her hypertension and excessive alcoholism, Betty is frequently admitted to the hospital. Tori’s physical assessment revealed that Betty was alert and oriented
Reinventing Healthcare-A Fred Friendly Seminar was produced in 2008. The film explores the current issues in health care at that time. This paper explores the issues that were addressed in the movie and compares them to the problems of health care today.
I have a lot to reflect on from my clinical practice this week: working with my client’s primary care giver, my client’s complex health experience and through acknowledgement of the areas of practice of where I am wanting to improve confidence in my skills as a nursing student as well as recognizing and acknowledging areas I have strength in. These two clinical days gave me experience that enabled me to step forward in understanding of collaboration with other health care providers, new ways of finding information, working with a more acute client and recognition of feelings that develop in situations where I am strengthen my skills, and where I am needing work on my confidence in my skills and abilities to communicate with different care

After meeting with our patient twice, I believe we have set into place a relationship where the patient is very open to us about her health. This is helpful for my partner and I as an open and honest patient is beneficial as we assist them in their health. Goals for next semester include reducing our patient’s blood sugar as well as reducing our patient’s fibromyalgia pain. Our patient has expressed to us that her glucose is high but she is ok with the high number as long as she is feeling relatively healthy. We hope to give practical ways to reduce blood sugar throughout next semester so hopefully we can reduce that number by semester’s end. Our patient is going to see her physician soon, so we hope to get an update on the patient’s fibromyalgia
The first step in solving any problem is to defining what you plan to achieve and how to get there. (Plan you work, work your plan - Les Brown) Several ideas on the way to reform health care in the past have been mired with potholes even before the plan was enacted. Sometime the administration knew about these potholes and attempted to cover them up, in order "just to look good", while their opponent (in an effort to do the right thing) pointed out these potential potholes ahead of time, but were put down as being "hateful opponents". It turns out, the opponents were RIGHT!
In general, I consider my greatest strength in the case study tutorials to be a confidence and willingness to contribute, which is certainly something I have struggled with in the past (during A levels, etc.). Having gained experience in group work and in leading a group project in my foundation year at Keele, I now find it far easier to speak up in these situations. I consider myself to generally be a very quiet person, so it has taken a lot of development to get to the point where I am able to speak out loudly and clearly. I am pleased with what I have achieved in this regard.
Case studies are a collection of data obtained using various methods gathered on an individual or group to record areas of interest in order to assist with analysis and provide recommendations. The study should include the name of the person, although this should be protected to provide anonymity where appropriate, and a brief description of the subject. The setting where the study is to be performed should be included. The aim of the observation must be presented along with a report of the findings. The type of method used will depend upon the subject and the area of interest. Data is gathered on the subject in this case observations were used to provide the data. An interpretation of the study will be made in order to provide a conclusion and recommendations made if applicable. Freud famously used the case studies that he carried out on his patients to develop his Psychoanalytic Theory.
