It’s not a game, it’s life. Football is the most participated and fundamental sport in America today. Parents have had reflections on if they should let their children experience the game of football because of how dangerous and rough the sport can be. Kids who play learn basic life lessons that they will need such as responsibility, perseverance, and teamwork. A benefit of playing football is leadership, learning to take control of situations and keeps them active and fit. Over a million kids and teenagers are playing football at the moment and they have many reasons why they play it “Playing sports taught me many valuable life lessons. Sportsmanship, respect, persistence, hard work, friendship; just a few values I gained from playing sports. Playing sports, and now following sports, bonded my father and I. Bonds that will never be broken for anyone.” (Jeff Shull). Playing football at a young age is beneficial to children because it gets them active, teaches them important life lessons and leadership. Football involves lots of running jumping and tackling all which are great exercises. Keeping health and in shape is a big goal in America today, even former first lady Michelle Obama is very passionate in getting our youth in shape. “At the launch of Let’s Move! in 2010, President Obama established a Task Force on Childhood Obesity clearly stating his goal to solve the problem of childhood obesity within a generation and announcing the First Lady’s role in leading a national public awareness effort to improve the health of our children.”(Debra Eschmeyer).
