A diligent and self-motivated individual, seeking a challenging yet rewarding career within the field of social care. I am trustworthy, patient and have a natural caring empathetic attitude towards others. I am able to understand and communicate with people from a diversity of cultural and social groups. I am currently studying an Access to Higher Education Level 3 course online with The Distance Learning Centre. The subjects I am studying on the course are Psychology, Social issues in health care and Human Biology. I believe I have acquired a variety of transferable skills and first-hand life experience that can enable me to achieve my goal.
A traumatic swimming incident during my childhood left me visiting many dental chairs where I suffered from an irrational fear of dentists. Every visit started with my fears but ended with my gratitude to these dentists, who had performed complex operations seamlessly. These experiences stemmed an interest in dental biology exploring topics such as root canal treatments; here I realised that a dental career would allow me to both explore human biology further but also actively improve our society’s welfare.
I have known that I wanted to go into the field of Social Work since my first year of undergraduate studies at SUNY at Fredonia. I entered SUNY at Fredonia as a major in secondary education, with a concentration in English. It was during my first semester of my freshman year that I had taken an introductory course in psychology. I realized then that I wanted to work with people, but not in the capacity as a secondary education teacher, but in a career in mental health. My professor spoke with such enthusiasm about the subject of psychology and psychopathology and soon, I found myself intrigued with these subjects. I wanted to help individuals who needed the help, especially knowing the stigma mentally illness exists in society.
I have been involved in 4-H since I was in the fourth grade. Today, I am still very involved. I show dairy cattle every year at the Clinton County Fair, Mississippi Valley Fair, and the Iowa State Fair. As well as showing in an open show called the Youth Dairy Classic through the Jr. Brown Swiss Association that I belong to. Through 4-H I have also participated in our annual fruit sales, helping put up and take down Christmas lights, paint the barns and help with restoration of them. I also helped at a cancer benefit of one of our 4-H families. To me, 4-H has helped me become a leader, I was recently in charge of the Entertainment Committee as well as being the Historian officer. My family is also very involved with 4-H, my father is on the Clinton County Fair Board, and both of my brothers and sister in law are Associate Fair Board members. Also my mother and father and grandmother were all 4-H leaders for years. I hope to follow in their footsteps and be a Fair Board member myself and one day help the fair board make important decisions too. This has impacted my life in a positive way and I hope to continue the generation.
I am a dedicated, self-motivated and hardworking individual. I am an excellent team worker and have good interpersonal skills and am very eager to learn and develop new skills.
...rs. I have completed a minor in philosophy, with a strong emphasis on health care and medical ethics. I plan to carry out the best possible ethical behavior to protect the clients and staff at these social welfare institutions; my goal is to make a difference in these patients’ lives. I am seeking an MSW at the Kent School of Social Work for the purpose of gaining education, experience, and required credentials in order to prepare me in working with clients with disabilities and their families. I routinely go to workshops and continue my education outside of required classes, as this effort contributes to my wealth of knowledge surrounding geriatric social work and the duties that the profession requires. I am consumed with excitement and eagerness to begin the transition from student to professional, and I appreciate your consideration to help me reach my goal.
As second-year Political Science and Media Studies student at the University of California, Berkeley, I was excited to learn about the Programming Fellow position at the Commonwealth Club. I am fascinated by how media functions as the largest platform for individuals to communicate their message effectively and quickly; in particular, I am interested in the intersection of political outcomes and media. While my strong academic background in media communication theory as well as international politics will allow me successfully support the Commonwealth Club’s goals in promoting impartial discussions on politics and culture, I still hope to further develop my skills in research and organizing with this fellowship. My experience in grassroots
My focus during Greenfield Community College and the University of Mass Amherst has been based on social justice, and environmental protection. My goal to continue understanding in these areas of interests is the focus during the last year to complete my bachelor’s. I want to continue a master’s program in social sciences and policy implementation; continuing my work in the integration of law, the incorporation of Co-Ops and other non-profit organizations which address social inequalities, including poor housing, poor nutrition and other sub-par conditions found in impoverished communities. The papers I have composed, in environmental justice and law, examine the impacts of hazardous environments on developmental neurological weaknesses
I have been voiceless and silenced for eighteen years of my life. My entire childhood consisted of me getting abused and not being able to speak up without getting shut down. I grew up making friends that suffered from addictions or got in trouble a lot, they were also voiceless. Watching my friends grow up and fall deeper into the grasp of their addiction was heartbreaking, no one would listen to them. No one would look past their actions to find out what was causing them to turn to drugs or alcohol, they were only the "problem kids." Ever since I have always been driven to help individuals acquire safety and advice. I am driven to be in a position that lets me help people who are in similar situations, which is why I want to go into the addictions
Education is neither linear nor static. It requires evolution and fluctuations. I received my undergraduate degree in Exercise Science at UNC Charlotte, and now it is time for a prime conversion to be made. Attending the Masters of Public Health program at UNC Charlotte would open the door for me to pursue my career aspirations in health care. Specifically, I am interested in epidemiological methods in community health. My ambition, perseverance, and work ethic have brought me to a high point, and enrolling in the Masters in Public Health program would raise that threshold even higher.
Healthcare administration is a field that is often overlooked, but is essentially the beating heart of any healthcare organization. With more and more hospital, and clinics, and other healthcare organizations popping up everywhere there is a need for people like me to manage the day-to-day operations. I am choosing to apply to this program because I want to study how the U.S. healthcare system operates. I want to learn the essential skills of operating a healthcare facility such as managing a budget, reducing healthcare costs, analyzing the efficiency of an organization and proposing ways to improve it. This program is going to give me the necessary education and skills so I can carry out my goal of being a healthcare administrator.
Growth is a process that happens naturally the moment we are born. Our bodies physically start to develop and take the form our genetics predetermine. We don’t have to think about it at all, but for other parts of our lives growth is effort. As children our determination to explore the new things around us motives us to learn to walk and talk. Then as we age the cycle of life gets pretty predictable and the excitement we once had diminishes.
From a young age, I was drawn to the healthcare field, not because the amount of money doctors, nurses and other health professionals made, but because of the dedication and contentment I saw on their faces helping someone in need. Growing up everyone wanted to become a doctor or a nurse and as a little child being a doctor or a nurse was a profession many parents wanted their child to pursue as a career. Needless to say, I fell into that category because I had high hopes that one day I will become a nurse. However, that dream came to a halt.
After having attained a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and a Master’s degree in Gerontology, I felt I should gain some first-hand experience in physical therapy and thus volunteered to work as a caregiver in a reputed Evergreen rehabilitation center Ga. However, while working as a caregiver I realized I needed to learn much more in order to provide better care in meeting the psychological and physical caring needs of the elderly. I have always had the inherent desire to serve the elderly in reducing their hardships and providing them with the much needed physical and psychological support so that they can lead a happy and trouble-free life.
When I was in highschool I had the opportunity to volunteer as part of the Gregg County Museum Board of Student Directors the year before I started at UT. As part of this organization I was able to help organize museum activities, gain experience in museum curation, and see the impact of engagement, outreach, and public education within my community. This experience along with the skills and insights I gained from it helped me direct my interests in history and humanities when I came to UT. Having seen the impact that a museum, its initiatives, and volunteers could have, even while being a small museum in a rural area, I started to think about how I could pursue my passions in liberal arts and contribute valuable community service at the same time.
For many people, higher education is often a challenge, and many struggle because they lack the discipline and motivation to succeed. I have been lucky to have a strong family behind me to constantly push me. Going to college was a family expectation, and I am eternally grateful because without it the possibility of attending George Washington law school would not exist. In May 2014, I graduated, a year early, from The College at Brockport, SUNY, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. While there, I had a number of successes, including: competing in a moot court seminar; participating in the college’s nationally recognized Leadership Development Program; and receiving numerous academic honors and awards. Following graduation,
