Badminton is not a contact sport and it is also an indoor game, therefore possibility of injuries is not very high, however, due to the quick movements such as jumping and stretching for the shuttle the game can have an effect on your body. Most health and safety rules are unwritten which means they are not official, nonetheless it is still followed. Given below are the most important health and safety regulations: 1. Stretching – any sports performer no matter what level would always warm up well before a match. In badminton, warming up is rather important because this game involves a lot of quick movements that can strain your muscles. For example, to smash you have to jump and then swing your arms at incredible speed. This kind of movement …show more content…
Clothing – each sport has certain clothing requirements to perform effectively, for example, in athletics spikes are required to run properly. In Badminton, players are advised to wear to proper shoes which have a good grip. This game involves a lot of quick movements that usually strain your knees and ankles therefore a shoe with good shock absorption would be beneficial and help reduce the strain. If the player cannot find shoes with good padding he/she may want to purchase silicone soles and insert them to the shoe. Furthermore, the shoes have to be tied tightly so that your ankle has support and this will also help reduce the possibility of toppling your ankle. For example, if you shoe is loose it may come off during play which would be a disadvantage to you. If the player is scared that the shuttle might knock his/her eye and cause injury they may wear goggles, however, there are other methods to protect your eyes. 5. Technique – proper technique is important for all sports, not only Badminton. And just like in any other sport bad form can result in injuries occurring. Badminton techniques refer to the way the shots are played and how the racket is held. By holding the racket the proper way and playing the shots the way it is supposed to would drastically reduce the possibilities of wrist and should injuries. Furthermore, the player needs to ensure that they hold the racket tight but not too tight as this may lead to elbow swelling, known as Tennis
There are a wide range of fitness components that contribute to successful tennis performance. More than one is usually important. Health component • Muscular Strength Tennis is a very effective an impact game, and each time you strike or run for the tennis ball your body absorbs serious impact. To stand this force you need both upper and lower body strength.
Injuries are common in most sports that have a contact component attached. Whether it’s at a professional level, or a school level, injuries are always bound to occur in contact sport. This analysis will look into the role headgear could, should and would play, and debates whether it should be made mandatory. Olympic sports such as Ice Hockey, Bicycle Riding and Baseball are just some examples that currently require athletes to wear a form of headgear. However, Australian contact sports such as AFL and Rugby give the option for players to wear headgear for protection. In 2011, 14 year old Ben Robinson was hospitalised after being treated 3 times in a game for head blows in a rugby game . In 1994, professional boxer Bradley Stone died from head injuries whilst boxing against Richie Wenton . Examples like these show the brutality of contact sports. Because of this, my paper will look at the issue of headgear in contact sport and will particularly look at this issue at junior sports level.
The physical demands of tournament tennis players can be and usually are very grueling. The body is using both anaerobic and aerobic metabolism along with anaerobic and aerobic muscle fiber types. Tennis is a high intensity sport requiring hundreds of short bursts of activity. Most points only last around 10 seconds(anaerobic) but there is only 25 seconds of rest in between points and 90 seconds of rest in between games which requires the player to have endurance(aerobic). Tennis matches can be long and drawn out, lasting hours or they can be fast, intense and only last an hour. This means having adequate nutrition along with an efficient metabolism is key to being able to compete at the highest level.
Volleyball is a great sport, it is very fun!! The attire for volleyball is a jersey, shorts, knee pads and special volleyball shoes. Some equipment that you need to play volleyball with, first of all you need a net, ball, 6 players on a court, court, referee,
The debate on artificial turf continues to rage on. Artificial turf has been structurally designed to be a safer surface than grass and to be unaffected by weather. Have engineers succeeded in their goal? It has been said that artificial turf has different properties than grass, and when forces act upon it, artificial turf reacts differently and causes more injuries. I have played the majority of my sports on artificial turf over the last couple years. I have always wondered if the artificial turf has any effect on injuries. Obviously I want to play on the safest surface possible. Is artificial turf that surface? This paper will answer the research question: In what ways does artificial turf affect player injuries?
There are many ways you can prevent injuries from happening before they do occur. Make sure you lift the right amount of weight to ensure that your body won’t wear down or you won’t injure yourself. Lifting more than you need to will only make your body worse. Using poor form can get you hurt quicker and easier than any other way. Make sure that you are using the correct form even if that means hiring a trainer or having a spotter. Workouts that you know can help because you will know the correct position. Workouts without machinery and weights have a lesser risk of hurting you. Cassidy says, “Years of intense workouts take a toll on your body..... Cartilage wears down and muscles, tendons, and ligaments can become less limber” (1).
In this assignment I will be talking about the four legislative factors that influence health and safety in sport. On each of the four legislative factors I will be describing them in more details also I will be giving examples for each of them. Here are four legislative factors that I will be talking about:
...ic to get focused in on their match, and to motivate them as well. As mentioned, most importing reason for doing a warm up is to prevent injury during competition. Warming up the muscles will prevent injuries such as hamstring tears and other types muscle strains.
The first way to prevent sports injuries is by educating people about it. In most sports today concussions are the main injury. “Wear the appropriate equipment for the sport and wear it properly”(BIANJ Sports Concussions). Head to head accidents happen a lot in sports, especially football, hockey, soccer,
Over training is the effect of forcing the body to work too hard without the rest to compensate for it. This is very important because if an athlete is being over trained, they may be putting too much stress on a certain area of the body. Over training may also force the athlete to completely forget about proper form and risk further injury. In “Overtraining and Burnout in Sports”, it is stated that athletes will perform the best when they can quickly recover during competition and can handle stress, recovery, and future stress (Kellmann). After every practice or game, a cooldown stretch should be done to help relax muscles and keep them at ease. Doing these stretches very often will help decrease the risk of any injury

Tennis is a sport that many people love to play. It is not the hardest sport in the world to learn. When playing against someone, it is called a match. Tennis can be played one on one or a doubles match. The main object of the game is to hit the ball over the net, inside of the lines so that the opponent can't get to it. There are two lines about two feet parallel to each other that outline the court. In a singles match, the inner line is the out of bound line, while the outer line is out of bounds in a doubles match. If you want to play, take a look at my two favorite tennis players because they are masters at serving and scoring, a few key aspects of the game.
Once people start to learn how to play the game, they can become much more aware of their surroundings. Tennis not only requires one to watch the ball constantly, but also watch for other balls that may come onto the court. Playing tennis also requires the individual to practice. Similar with starting any new sport or club, many people are given the chance to meet new people who share something that they are both passionate about and can relate to. People are also given a chance to become more physically fit. Tennis requires many short sprints from one end of the court to the other, as well as constant conditioning to build up one’s strength, physically and mentally. Tennis can give many people the chance to become more physically active and expand their social life once they decide to incorporate it into their daily
