In this segment of lectures in Health and Human Services, the class has been learning the “Overview of Health and Human Services”, which focuses on the basics for a variety of careers in the field. The lectures have included: “An Introduction to CHHS”, “HHS Agencies and Organizations”, “Becoming an HHS Professional”, “Understanding Frameworks of Health and Wellness”, “Interprofessional Education and Practice in HHS”, “Career Exploration in HHS”, and two separate career panel days. Due to the immense amount of information that was presented to the class, there were many new concepts and terms that were introduced. These included the different types of health organizations, the many different and specific branches of health departments, communication between health care providers, the importance of putting the patient first in treatment, the holistic health model, and the socio-ecological model. The different types of health organizations can range from multilateral, or global, initiatives involving many different governments, to philanthropic organizations that are funded through a small board of Interprofessional collaboration was the topic of an entire presentation and mentioned briefly in a few other presentations such as in, “Becoming an HHS Professional” and “Frameworks, Models, Theories, and Science of Health & Wellness.” In the health care industry, the amount of racial diversity in the system is appallingly low. Due to socio-economic factors for many different races, it is difficult for African American, Hispanic, and other minorities to have the same opportunities to receive an education in health care. The high cost of attendance in universities, masters programs, and medical schools mainly allow entrance to the privileged students who come from the upper class percentile on the socio-economic
D1: I have decided to look at a 6 year old going through bereavement. Bereavement means to lose an individual very close to you. When children go through bereavement they are most likely to feel sad and upset about the person’s death. Children at a young age may not understand when a family member dies. Children may not understand bereavement. For example a 6 year old’s father been in a car crash and has died from that incident. Death is unpredictable and children can’t be prepared for a death of a family member as no one knows when someone is going to die or not. Unfortunately every child can experience bereavement even when a pet dies. It is important that we are aware that effects on the child so we can support them in the aftermath.

Some hazardous substances as well as materials that could be found in a social care organisation may include any cleaning materials, e.g. disinfectant that can easily cause burns or poisoning, clinical and bodily waste, medicines or drugs. injury to the skin as most useful disinfectant is an irritant, all found in the COSHH cupboard for use of the cleaners. The clinical e.g. used injections and bodily waste e.g. period pads must be in the clinical waste bins. It’s also important that the clinical waste bins are cleaned twice a day. All the medicines can be found locked in the medication cupboard, The key must be kept safe and locked away l in a different room
Explain the relationship between factors and affecting health and wellbeing Heath care practitioners will research the links between certain public health issues and possible causes, triggers or individuals lifestyle choices for example smoking or eating a high cholesterol diet. They do this to be able to advise individuals and prevent them from getting the illness or to find ways on how to treat the illness because they have gained a better understanding of where it comes from. For example researchers found that there was a link between elderly people being susceptible to the flu because their immune system was weaker, to prevent them from getting the virus they would have been immunised and keep away from possibly being exposed to the virus.
Despite the importance of interprofessional collaboration in healthcare, many colleges still teach students in a uni-professional manner. The uni-professional approach to education creates problems: a lack of understanding of the roles of other professions, poor attitude toward professional collaboration, poor teamwork and communication skills (Frenk et al.,
The theory used for this case study was effective, because it was able to get P to recognise that change need to occur so the support that she received would be effective. Reflecting on action the outcome of the assessment and intervention that was applied to P’s case I used supervision and to discuss concerns I had regarding this family with my PS. Supervision helped me establish my concerns and areas I required further support in application to theory in evidence based practice ‘blind self’.
In the healthcare system, it is needed even more. Many healthcare facilities need to have their workforce diverse in order to reap benefits. In the 2000 U.S. Census, African Americans accounted for nearly 12.7 percent of the workforce, that number hasn’t increased exponentially today. Many minorities are underrepresented in the healthcare workforce, which can affect delivery of healthcare. Some benefits that many organizations see from a diverse work environment are: varied ideas, a larger talent pool, reduced discrimination, and more productivity. These benefits can impact the healthcare delivery system by improving quality of care and quality in the
The health care industry has become enormously powerful. Hundreds and thousands of physicians, nurses, health specialists, and many more non-medical workers have been employed in hospitals, health facilities, and even at home (Princeton, 2013). In our State, Florida, the healthcare industry is the most coveted field (Princeton, 2013). Everyone wants to be a nurse, a chief executive officer, a doctor, or a physician. It is a field that if chosen, we are set for life; unless we get tired of it or our license is revoked.

This course has taught me a lot about the role human service workers have in communities and what communities need from human services. I learned about why this type of work is so important and was able to seen that importance first hand through my observation hours at the Dorothy Day Center.
As someone who has many aspirations in life, I understand having both long and short-term goals is important. One of my long-term professional objectives includes being a community service manager at a health center. With this I am hoping to work with many other healthcare professionals to coordinate health programs and initiatives to improve the health of communities. Having a background in health promotion alongside the leadership and management skills and the real world experience that I intended to gain from this program will give me all I need to make this
I have chosen Public Health as my career path because I have a passion for making a difference in people’s lives and helping others achieve their goals. Also, I chose healthcare as a career because health does not only focus on the physical aspects of wellness, but it applies to all areas of wellness, such as, intellectual, social, spiritual, financial, occupational, environmental and emotional wellness. Moreover, Public Health is a challenging, diverse and dynamic field. My philosophy of health is very simple, to prevent, improve and educate the lives of individuals, families, communities and the population. Besides, there is no safer way to touch people’s lives than through public
I believe the most significant moment in the history of British welfare was the birth of National Health Service. The purpose of this essay is to outline the history of the National Health Service and why it was introduced into the everyday lives of the British people. As the National Health Service is a major factor of the welfare given to the people of Britain, we must look at the early years of the Welfare laws and acts passed down through the centuries, which eventually lead to the creation of the NHS. In addition to explore how social policy had an impact on the NHS, the essay will tread the discussion in the context of some of the economic, political and social concepts that influences the development of social policy in the NHS. It also
