Head Coach Employment Contract This Head Coach Employment Contract is entered by and between the Board of trustees of Florida International University the employer and James Madison the employee.
Article I Purpose 1.1 The parties have entered into this Agreement because the University desires to hire the head coach to start a Woman’s Lacrosse team and the head coach desires to be employed by the university. Both parties agree to work with one another to accomplish this goal.

Article III Term of Employment 3.1 The term of this agreement shall be for six (6) months from January 2018 to July 2018; however, early termination may be a factor if the employee fails to meet the terms in Article V. 3.2 This agreement is renewable for a longer term only if Florida International University makes an offer and the coach accepts. Both of these must me in writing and signed by both parties.
Article IV Compensation 4.1 In consideration of the coach services and satisfactory performance of this agreement, Florida International University shall pay the coach 22,500 dollars for the Six (6) Month term of his contract. After reports of several transgressions and the surface of a damaging videotape which appeared to show Knight physically assaulting a former player, the president of Indiana, Neil Reed, had explained to Knight that there was a zero tolerance policy where Knight was concerned (Wolff, 2000). Despite the repeated warnings and the newly stated zero tolerance policy, Knight continued to commit transgressions that eventually got him fired from Indiana University where he had coached for almost three decades. Indiana University took a thrashing from Knight fans’ over this decision, but keeping Knight as an agent of the University could have resulted in a legal disaster. From a Biblical worldview, the University showed mercy in the second chances that it provided to Knight. In addition, their actions did not appear to be malicious when they made the decision to let him go.
Sports provide a nice source of money for the college but some of the money is given to the coaches where coaches are given much more money than professors that do make an effort to teach students. The money can be potentially be used to promote more departments and of the like, but to see that coaches get paid more than professors, it makes a statement of how sports are more important than education. Colleges are made to educate students and ensure that education are the highest quality valued, but to have professors who are the basis of education being paid less than coaches. Abstract: Collegiate athletes participating in the two revenue sports (football, men's basketball) sacrifice their time, education, and risk physical harm for their respected programs. The players are controlled by a governing body (NCAA) that dictates when they can show up to work, and when they cannot show up for work. They are restricted from making any substantial financial gains outside of their sports arena. These athletes receive no compensation for their efforts, while others prosper from their abilities. Recently college athletes have been granted permission to work, from the NCAA. Even with this permission, their jobs are still regulated. One regulation to the athletes working is that they cannot work for alumni of the school. The NCAA has this rule because they feel if athletes work for people with close ties to the school then they will be receiving special benefits while working. As described in the Billion Dollar Ball Chapter, football programs are largely the most revenue grossing sports at a college (with the exception of Kansas) (Gaul. 2015). Similarly, as we discussed in class, most of that revenue is reinvested back into the athletic programs since schools are non-profit entities (In Class Work). Whether it is right or wrong and whether that money should have invested in the players is another question. Additionally, players are not being paid. As a result, I believe that the amount that a college coach gets paid should be a generous portion of that revenue. Another critique of college sports is that many schools do not produce a net positive revenue, but still pay millions for a coach anyways. Schools may do this in order to achieve the status of schools like Alabama or Clemson (Gaul, 2015). My senior project is about being a coach and how it can be difficult and not an easy task. I wanted to show others that being a coach is something that takes time and effort in order to accomplish it. Being a coach is not a fun job but it is a job that will help you in the future. Coaching is an experience that not a lot of people get to go through but those who do become not just better people but they become teachers to others in troubling times and in time of need. Coaching gives you and also shows you that being helpful and courteous to others actually helps you out as a person and it also helps out the players you’re coaching to be better people and to be kind and not take things in the wrong way and to show them a better way that will help them in their life.
