The article I have chosen for this assessment is about a volcano. This volcano resides in Hawaii on the big island, it is called Kilauea. It is Hawaii’s youngest and most active volcano. Hawaii, unlike other countries, was completely formed by lava. Each island of Hawaii has its own volcano which formed it. I will tell you why that passage about volcanos is geography related soon enough, but first what is geography? Geography is the study of the physical attributes of Earth. Such as tectonic plates, volcanos, countries, and also the atmosphere. Geography can also be countries, states, rivers, mountains and also animal adaption. Now why is that passage related to geography?
The answer is quite simple, a volcano is a natural structure, which
Introduction Kohala Volcano is the oldest of five volcanoes in hawaii. Kohala is estimated of 1,000 years old and it emerged above sea level over 500,000 years ago. The most recent eruptions were 120,000 years ago. That was a long time ago! I wonder when it were to ever erupt again!
In the book “Why Geography Matters More Than Ever”, the author, Harm de Blij, discusses the importance of geography, how it can affect us in any place or any time, and why it matters. But most importantly, he succeeds to advance our perception of the world’s geography. Throughout the book de Blij highlights the many benefits of being educated about geography. He explains that it is important that we are informed about this topic so we can be more prepared for the events happening around the world. This book illustrates just how essential it is to be well-educated when it comes to geography.
The main ideas presented in “Why Geography Matters…More Than Ever!” revolve around what exactly geography is, and the implications of the subject. Geography is the study of the physical world and human actions, it also covers the affects of human actions. Geography influences a plethora of topics and geographers do research on numerous subjects. “Geographers do research on glaciations and coastlines, on desert dunes and limestone caves, on weather and climate, even on plants and animals”(7). The author stresses how underrated geography is the present times, and how the introduction of social studies have doomed the subject of geography for future generations. In a section detailing the teaching of geography
A serious problem that affects Hawaii today is the decline of natural forests due to the importing of invasive species and widespread deforestation. Majority of Hawaii’s natural forest have depleted and what is left is either being used for housing and farming, or preserved by the state. Little has been done to combat this besides the 1% of State funding that’s being used to run preservation systems.
While walking down the beach, the white, warm sand mushes between your toes. The sun’s radiant rays beam off your glowing skin. The sound of waves crashing blocks out the external world. There is no other place like the gorgeous tropical islands of Hawaii. The wide range of flowers, cuisine, and wildlife makes it one of the most diverse places on Earth; however, the unappealing aspects Hawaii makes it one of the most dangerous in the world.
I chose to write my essay on these two cultures, because they are both native to their land, and they were both overthrown, for lack of a better word, from their homeland by more “Civilized” people. They were both thriving, self sufficient cultures that were living and progressing fine on their own. But others saw them as primitive and wanted to change them. This is what I think they have most in common.
Aloha from the people of Hawaii and their culture! Have you ever wanted to visit Hawaii for fun activities, or to enjoy the amazing sights? Well, then Hawaii is a great travel destination! However, if you were to visit the islands, it would be great to learn a little about its people and culture! Luckily that’s exactly what we are going to talk about, so you can get to know the people of these magnificent islands a bit better. The culture of the native Hawaiian people is very colorful and unique because of its cuisine, hula dances, and religion.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is about 30 miles southwest of Hilo. It is on the big island of Hawaii. This park is the home of Kilauea Volcano. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth.

According to the National archives in 1893 Queen Liliuokalani was overthrown by a group of white businessmen called the Committee of safety 1875 King Kalakaua signed the bayonet constitution, which would be the beginning of the end of Hawaii, then in 1887 King Kalakaua was then faced with guns pointed to sign the bayonet constitution which took power from the throne and the Hawaiian people voting rights. Then when the king died queen Liliuokalani took the throne trying to get a new constitution in place to give back the trones power and the hawaiians voting this was put down and leaked through the Queen's advisors to the committee of safety. On January 13 1893 hawaii was overthrown by minister stevens and the committee of safety. I feel like the overthrow of hawaii was unfair because Minister stevens had no right to bring troops to take over the iolani
Geography is the study of the physical features of the earth and its atmosphere, and of human activity as it affects and is affected by it, including the distribution of populations and resources, land use, and industries. Environmental influences, such as cost, changing weather, climate patterns, their potential impacts, and the threat of spreading diseases, are of increasing concern. Geography allows us to participate and enjoy our planet. It gives us a sense of reference to where we live and where we may be going in relationship to where we have been, and the appreciation of the world we live in. Anthropology is the study of human kind and culture, everybody wants to know where and how humans came to be. Our daily lives such as family, friends, co-workers and the under...
Human activity has major effects on geography. When studying the earth you can come to several conclusions about the geography of any particular civilization. Distribution of life in the civilization allows you to analyze whether their geography is their own destiny. Do people control their own destiny? Is geography something that people can control? Technology is really the key to why geography can be overcome by any people.
Kilauea is a shield volcano. In Hawaii it is the youngest and the most active volcano in Hawaii. It’s the most active volcano out of the five volcanoes put together in Hawaii. When Kilauea erupts, and when lava is everywhere it looks like a river of lava. Kilauea elevation is 4,019. Kilauea is located in the southern part of Hawaii. Kilauea is sitting on the southeast flank of the massive Mauna Loa shield volcano. Kilauea is the home of Pele, the hawaiian volcano goddess. The hawaiian name Kilauea means “spewing” or “much spreading”. For many years, Kilauea was thought to be mere satellite of it’s giant neighborhood, not a separate volcano. However, researchers have researched that over the past view decades shows clearly that Kilauea has it’s

Since the beginning of humankind, the study of geography has captured the imagination of the people. In ancient times, geography books extolled tales of distant lands and dreamed of treasures. The ancient Greeks created the word "geography" from the roots "ge" for earth and "grapho" for "to write." These people experienced many adventures and needed a way to explain and communicate the differences between various lands. Today, researchers in the field of geography still focus on people and cultures (cultural geography), and the planet earth (physical geography).
