"Hate crime law also doesn't follow the Fourteenth Amendment, by treating other people that are different because of a law"(1). The Fourteenth Amendment says that everyone is equal no matter what. When people start to not follow the Fourteenth Amendment a lot of hate and discrimination occurs. Gays and non gay people are all the same, individuals should be able to marry whoever we want with out being hated for their choice.
There has been a lot of conflict concerning the topic of same sex marriage. Most states have ruled it unconstitutional, and some have disagreed. But what really is the solution to this problem? This law also gives each citizen the freedom from religion. Opposing gay marriage, in my opinion is just another form of bias. Just because some people decide to marry the same sex doesn't mean they are doing anything wrong.

This argument is not different from the one half a century ago, when it was thought almost impossible for an African American to share the same water fountain, or ride next to “whites” on a bus. Do American citizens really think that if a gay marriage is not allowed, the gay citizens are going to stop/change their way of life? Now a days we people are aloud to sit and drink from the same water, and sit by whoever we want to. This doesn't change the way we live and neither should gay marriage.

Everyone has their own ways of expressing their feelings for others. But we should hate these people or accuse them of any crime for it. All these innocent people are doing is just showing how they feel about each other. Fairly, it is something beyond our control. They believe that same sex marriage is perfectly natural. Also, it is important for mental health that same sex couples be given the same rights, benefits, and responsibilities as heterosexual couples. If we just shut of all these people because of what they believe is right then we are shutting of a whole country. People should be given the same rights as everyone else. We are all people.

Conversely, recent empirical evidence has illustrated the harmful psychological effect of policies restricting marriage rights for same-sex couples. Additionally, children raised by same-sex couples have been shown to be on par with the children of opposite-sex couples in their psychological adjustment, cognitive abilities and social functioning.
Other opponents argue that children are safer in “normal” marriages. Children are safe in either home, as long as they are being taken care of the way a child needs to be taken care of. It doesn't matter if a child grows up with two moms, or two dads. The child isn't gonna be any different as they grow
