The novels Hatchet and Chuck, from the movie Castaway, are characters that face similar survival situations within their stories. They both have major themes, but also have some differences and similarities. In the novel Hatchet, Brian wanted to go visit his father, that's the reason he got on the plane. Brian Robeson is a thirteen-year-old son of divorced parents. The pilot suffers a massive heart attack and dies. Brian tries to land the plane but ends up crash-landing in a lake in the forest. Packages were washed up from the water. Wore socks as shoes while on the island the very next day when he got there. There are no animals on the island. Only like ocean animals in the water.While on the Island the dead pilot was washed up by the water. Chuck found the body and decided to dig him up in the sand and make a grave for him. He had to drink rainwater. Tried to swim somewhere for help, but he couldn’t. He was trying to make fire but couldn’t, but he didn’t give up, and then he got it. He had packages and he unwrapped them. In one of them, there was a ball and he drew like a human on it so it could be his best friend. Had to eat ocean animals. He was in his middle ages. He lived in a cave. Chuck uses a piece of bamboo and hollows it out. He then cracks the bamboo in half. He takes a stick and rubs it along the bamboo until it smokes, then blows on it and creates fire. He was there for four years. He was found by a large ship while he was on his homemade
