Over the course of this summer I read four books. The books I read were Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J K Rowling, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix, and Number the Stars by Lois Lowry again. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J K Rowling was the first book I read this summer and I really liked it. I decided to read the 5th Harry Potter book because I had it and I never really got a chance to read it. The book begins were it had left you of in the 4th book when Harry is just about to enter his 5th year at Hogwarts. He still lives with his aunt and uncle whom he hates because they are mean and evil to him. The letters from his friends are very dull and they have nothing to say, which confuses him and makes him furious. He is also mad because he’s still stuck with the Dursleys all summer long. The story goes with his adventures and challenges throughout his 5th year. The genre is fantasy complete with magic. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes the Harry Potter books. I would also recommend that if you have never read any of the previous books you start from the beginning. I can’t wait ‘till the next book comes out!
He discusses demise in the primary sentence, saying, “The marvelous thing is that it’s painless” (Hemingway 826). As the story creates, Harry as often as possible specifies his desire to pass on or the way he feels that passing is close now. “You can shoot me.” (Hemingway 826) and “I don’t want to move” (Hemingway 827), and “There is no sense in moving now except to make it easier for you” (Hemingway 827) and “Can’t you let a man die as comfortably as he can without calling him names? “ (Hemingway 827). It sounds as though Harry is surrendering, not so much, since he is a weakling, despite the fact that his wife calls him that, yet more since he feels that, it is more agreeable for him right now to set down and pass on as opposed to sitting tight for a truck or plane that will most likely never arrive. During the rest of the story, Harry has several moments when he feels the proximity of
Rowling starts off Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone with Harry’s past. Of how he got his scar and survived Voldemort’s attack. Harry’s scar not only represents his connection to Voldemort, but the memories from
The climax is when Harry goes to the Ministry of Magic to rescue his godfather, Sirius, but Sirius isn't there. There are some people there, though. They are the Deatheaters, Lord Voldemort's loyal servants. There is then a big fight where the Deatheaters try to steal a prophecy from Harry. Then Lord Voldemort himself arrives after the prophecy was smashed.
Junior, Arnold’s nickname in the novel, must learn to deal with the death of Oscar (his beloved dog), his sister, his dad’s best friend (who was another father figure to him), and his grandmother. Out of all these deaths, the one that impacted him most was his grandmother’s; she was the person he could confess anything to without feeling incompetent about his feelings. She also taught him one of life’s most important lessons – tolerance. Grandmother Spirit’s last words were “Forgive him,” referring to the drunk driver that hit her (Alexie 157). Junior is absolutely awed by this stating, “Wow. My grandmother’s last act on earth was a call for forgiveness, love, and tolerance” (Alexie 157). Harry must deal with death in a different way than Junior. To explain, his parents died protecting him when he was a baby from the evil antagonist known as Voldemort. Harry has been plagued by this his whole childhood, because he is famously known as The Boy Who Lived. This has only intensified in this novel as Harry learns of his godfather, Sirius Black, who was falsely accused of handing Harry’s parents over to Voldemort; he was punished by being sent to the wizard prison called Azkaban, hence the title of the book. Throughout the novel, however, Harry learns that Sirius was a loyal friend to his parents and realizes that Sirius is the only person closest to family he has left. It turns out Harry saves Sirius’ life by finally utilizing the
Composer John Williams created this song to tell the entire story of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. In an interview, John Williams stated that multiple songs from the entire score got put together in order to make “Harry’s Wondrous World” (The Harry Potter Suite). “Harry’s Wondrous World” succeeds in adding magic and majesty to the opening sequence of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The story begins with Harry Potter, as a baby, being brought to his Uncle and Aunt Dursley’s house to live after Harry’s parents were killed by the evil wizard, Lord Voldemort.... ...
Just to quickly run through the two previous books; Harry Potter is a wizard, who’s parents were killed by the worst dark wizard ever known. The reason why Harry Potter is still around, is because Lord Voldemort failed to kill Harry. His spell hit Harry, but then backfired on Voldemort taking all of his powers with him. Harry is so famous for two things. Withstanding the powers of Lord Voldemort, and, taking him back in to the underworld in hiding. In the first book, Harry receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He’s eventually allowed to go, and spends the next six months there learning magic, getting into trouble, and trying to solve mysteries of his past, and the school. In the second book, Harry goes back to his second year at Hogwarts, and gets into more trouble, figures out many astonishing mysteries and learns loads more magic. His best friends in the two books consist of Ron and Hermione (two of his fellow wizard students) and Hagrid the gamekeeper who was expelled from Hogwarts but allowed a job as the gamekeeper.
Accidentally, he arrives to the black eagle restaurant, and after leaving a teachers' house because a photograph he didn't like, Harry sees a girl that seems interesting to him so that, he approaches her and they begin speaking, he tells her about the professor's house success and explains to her that he can not arrive to his house because something terrible is waiting for him in there, the suicide
The lessons that children are taught from films are most often sugarcoated versions of life lessons that adults gather. Children’s films are about what adults want their children to see, not about what their children actually learn. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry leaves his aunt and uncle, Petunia and Vernon Dursley, to study magic at the Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Soon after leaving he discovers that his parents were murdered by the most powerful dark lord, Voldemort, and he was the "boy who lived." Along the way to Hogwarts, Harry meets Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The three soon become best friends and plot to save Hogwarts from Voldemort's wrath.
chest before he fully disappeared. Harry gets very emotional and tells him not to die;
the bad. The main characters on the good side are Harry Potter and his two friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, and on the bad the main character is Lord Voldomort. Harry Potter is a courageous, brave, and kind person. The whole series revolves around Harry Potter and Lord Voldomort. Ron Weasley is Harry’s closest friend and is not always the brightest but he is a good person who always stands with Harry no matter the situation. Hermione Granger is a book worm, straight A student who turns every assignment in on time and always does whatever her teachers tell her to do, and because of her skill and knowledge she has helped the trio out of several tight situations. Lord Voldomort is the most evil of the evil. His goal is to rule the world, kill every muggle (non magical people) so that only wizards are left and, most importantly, to conquer death. Through out the entire series Voldomort has tried to kill Harry a total of eight times but has failed all because of his short-sightedness and un-willingness to admit to his weaknesses.
Harry Potter starts off slow, but gets very interesting near the end. In the beginning, you meet the Dursleys, Harry’s aunt, uncle, and their son Dudley. Then you learn that Harry’s parents were witches, and that they were destroyed by a evil wizard. A good witch, Albus Dumbeldoor, sends Harry to the Dursleys, because they’re his only remaining family. The Dursleys however, hated Harry and his family, so Harry was mistreated for years. He was forced to live in a cuborrod under the stairs. He had to watch as the fat, stuck up Dudley got whatever he wanted, and then usually broke whatever it was he got. Then one day Harry got a letter.
