Beyond the word’s denotation lies a connotative power which we are oblivious to. It does not only apply on the citizens of a country, rather, it comprises of entire system we are currently residing on ranging from the relationship among different minds, the ecosystem and even our own body. How is it that harmony in diversity plays a vital role to the country? Why must we cast away our dissimilarity for the sake of humankind even though it contradicts with our respective beliefs? Why are we to accept the unacceptable, just for the sake of harmony? Only with harmony are we able to attain a sense of peace …show more content…

This essay will discuss the intrinsic relationship between diversity conceptualization and social integration presenting a response against David Brooks’ essay entitled “People Like Us.” In order to do this I will discuss four crucial elements: the influences of different definitions of diversity in cultural unification, Brook’s ideas about social groups working together and social groups coexisting together, the importance of diversity, and the influence of diversity in social changes. I will examine why some people have the perception that our American society ignore or see as unworthy diversity. Thus, I will dispute Brook’s view stating that our society disregards diversity, and Americans just pretend that it is important to them.
Diversity shapes the world we live in. Diversity can be defined as people coming together from different nationalities, races, religions, cultures, sexes, and genders to form a group, organization or community. With diversity comes both positive and negative factors, especially to those who fail to understand its value. Today, most people view diversity as an overall good thing because it allows people the chance to experience something different, gain a new perspective on life, and it influences understanding, clarity, and knowledge outside of what we are normally accustomed to. On the other hand, in social institutions such as education, religion, family or economy one may face certain consequences for being different. With diversity comes
Although we are all different in religion and race, unity is crucial if we are to work as a single organism to prop up the country’s name on the international stage. So, exactly why is diversity within society so important? Firstly, to put it simply, our lives are just more interesting! Can you imagine living in a country where every person you see has the same language, accents and religion? Eventually, we would all get bored, desperate for some new and interesting faces. Curiosity is a difficult flame to extinguish. For example, when a Buddhist asks why his Muslim friend doesn’t eat during the day, he would explain the concept of fasting in the month of Ramadan. From this, many beneficial moral values can be obtained by enquiring others on their way of life. Therefore, the Buddhist friend will develop respect towards him, by not eating in front of his fasting friend. Besides that, our cultural-based knowledge would increase, as would our level of wisdom. We are more equipped to face the outside world where religions and cultures come in abundance. Curiosity, respect, tolerance, teamwork, and understanding are what built the foundation harmony. We should be grateful of the bonds we create among different races in

What is harmony? It is a sense of tranquility and peacefulness that describes the relationship of how multiple distinctive parties come to terms with each other. So simple, yet it is mind-boggling how exceedingly difficult and intricate it is to achieve. Therefore, harmony within diversity must be nurtured and cherished. How so? Perhaps some would indeed disagree with this ideology, so let’s take a brief visit to the past.
Diversity is a notion, when applied to the majority of circumstances, can create a positive conclusion. The trick to producing a positive outcome is often how the different aspects are brought together. Consider a classic dinner combination peas and carrots, the two colors look appealing and the two flavors comes together as one making a superb side dish. Now consider oil and water, these two substance are not often considered a good combination. Although, this is not always the case; olive oil and vinegar (which is water based) when mixed, come together into a delectable salad dressing. Diversity and inclusion should also apply to humans by bringing people together who are different it can creates a whole that is enhanced by the uniqueness of each individual.
To gain a better understanding and develop a positive attitude and acceptance of the varying ethnic and cultural differences we have in society today in the modern world, we need to step back and examine and study the philosophical views of ancient philosophers and attempt to modify the traditional mind set of today’s population in regards to racism. We are in fact all human, all cultures, all ethnic groups, all races, all skin color and cannot be compared to other living creatures, we can make judgments, we know right from wrong, we all have the opportunity to succeed. We as the human race must re-evaluate our morals which define our personal character and strive to make healthier and better decision in our lives on issues that affect our fellow man, as well as being ethical in our social lives and activities.
Today’s global competition, demands a country to keep the true identity., culture becomes the basic aspects that must be maintained, because of the existence of culture effects how closely humans in general act, and be friendly. Cultural or often we refer to as the culture has its own uniqueness, while others interest by the culture then this could make the place tourism.
To live a happy life with understanding and ease with others, there are some components that are crucial to achieve that quality of life, and civility is one of those important ones because it makes our manners better and our relationships good which eventually lead to making our lives better. If we are happy with our live, we would definitely impact other people’s lives positively, and it would for sure pay off really well for them. So when we learn civility that prevents the possibility of cross-cultural misunderstanding and conflict. So by Forni’s rules of choosing civility we have a guide to treat others nicely; thus, our manners and social interactions improve. So I agree with P.M. Forni's argument in his book choosing civility "to learn how to be happy we must learn how to live well with others, and civility is a key of that". Forni.p 14
Tourism is an important and intricate element to society. It affects economical, social, cultural and environmental elements. Without unity, sovereignty and independence of the country will be lost in a blink of eyes. One of the initiatives in maintaining harmony in a multiracial society is depending on an individual's attitude. This is because the prosperity of a community generally depends on the individual. Each individual should tolerates and respects each other in order to nourish harmony within the society. Every citizen must inculcates moral values in their daily lives. Our world is constantly changing and it requires a society that is well versed in understanding the problems deriving from culture differences and tolerance of one another’s beliefs and perceptions. We are dealing with systemic problems in education, economic, government, religion and culture differences.
