Throughout life we are all faced with many hardships. Some we may have control over, others not so much. Although I’m only 17, I have experienced many during my life. Some bigger than others. To me, the hardships and difficulties that come our way leave us with two options. To let life grab you buy the foot and drag you until you can no longer get up. Or, you show life that despite the challenges it throws to you, you will always come out stronger than you were before. And I will never let myself live a life where I follow option one.
I was 11 years old when my dad passed away. This had to have been the most tragic event that I have ever experienced to this day. Not only to me, but to my 2 brothers, family, and friends. This situation has
changed me in ways I never knew possible. I was in 6th grade at the time, and was just like any other 11 year old. I enjoyed spending time with family, and hanging out with my friends. I never really had a passion. I was still trying to find who I was. That was, until my father got into a catastrophic car accident that ended his life much sooner than anybody would’ve expected. This left my family, and I in shock. We never would’ve imagined such a horrible event like this happening to us. Days, weeks, and even months passed, yet I still found it challenging to live my life as I once had. Yet, I knew I had to get up every morning no matter what, and live my life to the fullest, just as my dad wanted. Despite him not being with me anymore, I knew he was looking down at me, protecting me, and guiding me. It took patience, love, and hope. Yet, I learned to grow up, and become a much more mature person at a very young age. I was I learned how to appreciate, and enjoy each moment I experienced no matter how big or small. I learned that life should never be taken for granted. I grew, not only for myself but for my family. My mom taught me so much from this, and I realized that no matter what life puts you through, there is still light at the end of the tunnel. I prayed for peace, and comfort, and I soon got it. I soon pushed myself in school, in sports, and in dance. I needed to make my family proud, especially my dad. I needed to set an example for my little brother. I made sure he understood that no matter how low life drags us, we will always be able to bounce back up. I quickly started to focus more and more on my classes, and school. My grades started improving, and I became determined to keep them that way. I joined clubs, and sports and became involved in all that I could. I strived to be the best that I could be. I was genuinely happy, and I came out stronger than I ever was before. I have learned that life is not fair, nor is it perfect. But we must make the most of what we have. We’re all faced with challenges, but with family, and love we are able to overcome everything and anything.
Adversities are often given a negative connotation and view, as most consider them to be hurdles which impede progress. Nevertheless when taken in and accepted under a positive light, adversities can serve as stepping stones through which an individual can better their character. In the face of looming obstacles individuals who persevere come out of the situation as stronger, determined, and more hopeful for the future.
It shows here that being strong in every problem will make you understand how beautiful life is that you can make it turn it into your
Most people do not actively seek out adversity, yet few can escape encountering adversity in the form of hardships and afflictions. Two people who faced great adversity in their lives were Martin Luther King Jr. and my father Brent Vickery. These men both faced adversity in different degrees and at different times and places within the United States, but what makes them similar is that their strength of character allowed them to face adversity boldly.
It is true that obstacles in life are uncomfortable and unsupportable experiences, but if we would learn to look at the bright sides of problems, keep seeking opportunities, manage situations and learn from failures then the difficulties that we face in our life would turn out for the better not only in the present but also in the
It is the challenges we face that make it look dark and gloomy. The key to a productive existence is not the emotions we feel when presented with adversity, but in our ability to overcome, grow and evolve. In comparison, examine the Spoken Indian searching for hope in hardships, or the extraordinary taste and smell of the wine connoisseur who lacks sight. See the trial & errors or the young man growing to love both parents, and the college student whose heart is blistering with pain from the loss of his mother, but finds healing in his new home as an emerging scholar. We are all exploring methods to handle
The obstacles which we must face are not there to hinder our daily life. They are there to provide countless opportunities to obtain greater success. In order to be successful we must look at every obstacle as a new opportunity.
Everyone has a different viewpoint on what it is like to go through a hardship in your life. Some people view struggles in life as a strength and that they build character. Others view struggles as a sign of defeat and that they should just give up. For example, the hardest thing that a middle class, 17 year old girl might have had to endure in her life so far is a heart-wrenching breakup with her first boyfriend of three months. While a lower class, 17 year old girl has had to take over the role of mother in her house with 4 young siblings, no father, and a mother who is at work all day, barely breaking even at the end of the month. Both girls are going through a hardship in their lives, but one might view the other as less severe of a struggle
Finding out about my grandmothers death was the saddest moment in my life . I didn't understand . I didn't expect it to happen , not to me . I wondered why god had taken an important person away from my life , ad for that i felt confused and miserable . I cried for hours that day . Nothing could have brought me joy that day but the presence of my grandmother , but she was gone and i found it hard to overcome the situation.
“Even though we face difficulties of today and tomorrow I still have a dream”- Martin Luther King.At times human beings face difficulties in life. These difficulties can either change us for the better or the worse. In the novel “The Outsiders” by S.E.Hinton we see how different people deal with different difficulties in their lives and how they’ve learned and grown from those experiences whether it would be positive or negative. People learn and grow from challenges and often people change from these experiences.
Throughout the entirety of my life I always have and always will face obstacles: I am a girl, I am African-American, I have a disabled brother, I have a single parent. Though these aspects of my life have created challenges, I am proud of who I am and I love my life. These challenges have molded my character and shaped me to be the person I am today and without these obstacles, I might not have been as driven to succeed, despite what has happened in my life that may have caused me to
When the end of my 5th grade year had hit; A land mark of the most traumatizing event of my life was about to take place. My mom had left my father and took us along with her. Over the summer and a few addit...
Life will throw even the most successful people challenges that they cannot avoid but the outcome of those situations always lies firmly in the hands of the people involved. Figures from the past have shown this to be true. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Gandhi, etc. are inspirational people who have taken unfortunate circumstances and have changed them into opportunities--into unarticulated examples of accomplishments that have changed the society’s views on the benefits of always striving for something better. Robert Frost was one of those people; he was able to optimize the most out of terrible situations, and was able to explain the lessons he learned through poetry, expressing how life is a never-ending learning process. He continued
People don't truly accept life for what it is until they've actually tasted adversity and went through those misfortunes and suffering. We are put through many hardships in life, and we learn to understand and deal with those issues along the way. We find that life isn't just about finding one's self, but about creating and learning from our experiences and background. Adversity shapes what we are and who we become as individuals. Yann Martel's Life of Pi shows us that adverse situations help shape a person's identity and play a significant role in one's lief by determining one's capabilities and potential, shaping one's beliefs and values, and defining the importance and meaning of one's self.
Life is something that requires a considerable amount of physical and mental effort. Some are fortunate enough to have everything prepared for them. Such as some are born into money; some come across good fortune yet most work hard from the start to get some where in the world. It just all depends on how you were brought into this world. For some people, life is full of stress and hardships. That’s how life was for someone very dear to me. He had it difficult from the start. However he chose not to let life get him down. When life gave him lemons, he made lemonade.
Life isn’t like the movies, life is hard, each day, we change, we grow, we go through good times, we go through bad times everything we do in our lives, whether it be good or bad defines us. It makes us who we are, to the individuals we grow to become. There have been times in my life that have been amazing, but there has been struggle, it’s been a long road. I’ve had many up’s and down in my education and in my personal life. All these endeavors and challenges have made me work harder, know my worth, plan my dreams, set my goals and what I need to inspire to accomplish to make these dreams a reality, to the path and to the decisions that made me who I am today to what I want for my future.
