There many definitions regarding hard of hearing people in America and its minority groups. Especially in the Hard of Hearing community the minority groups that are making up two times more this invisible disability. These minority groups are very diverse among the Hard of Hearing community and are the most common to suffer this disability. Most of the people is becoming more prevalent to any type of disability. Only in the United States it is estimated that about two million people suffer from a hearing impairment and is only in the minority groups. Such as Asian American, African American, and Hispanic groups.

According to the research the, “African American community is considered a minority group — a culturally, ethnically, or racially distinct group that coexists with but is subordinate to a more dominant group where experiences of unequal treatment, shared physical and cultural treatment, and a strong sense of cultural solidarity are present” (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2011). Therefore based on this we could describe that the black hard of hearing are individuals who share their own identity and values. Basically these three groups share the disability of Hard of Hearing (Hearing Impairment) because they suffer it some at young age other at elderly so they are very distinct groups not only ethically but culturally. They have different languages some speak their native language but they are losing that because they are been taught other languages like in the United States English have been replacing those native languages. But not only English now sign language have replace English. So in the Hard of Hearing communities American Sign Language is their main way of communicating with the hearing community. Therefore they are becoming to get closer and interact more with this community and learn their culture, norms, behavior patterns and so on. They are interacting participating with this community because they began to identified themselves as a Hard of Hearing
