Aldous Huxley, the writer of the book Brave New World and Ken Kesey, the writer of the book One flew over the cuckoo’s nest, pursuits happiness from those books with the context of economic and literary. There are many ways that the authors pursuits happiness with the literary device like Setting and Characterization.

The World State had many ways to make the people happy in their society. Though, the happiness isn’t always what the people in the World State actually felt but was taught to be happy. The book pursuits the audience with happiness by showing people in the World State enjoying their nights by taking soma, which is a type of drug, and having sexual interaction. Soma is known as the key for happiness in the World State. People always take soma for their own feelings because it makes them feel good. This pursuits happiness because it makes the people happy by taking soma. People are taught to have a sexual interaction at a very young age so that when they grow up, it would not be awkward. This pursuit the happiness because people like having a sexual interaction with the opposite gender which raises their excitement which they eventually take it as happiness. The literary device that it uses is the setting because the setting of this book is the World State and the setting somehow makes the people in the World State very happy.
