The following is a case study about the Mobile Network Gives Haneda Airport Its Competitive Edge. It has components that describe about the WLAN components and the Role of WLAN at Airports
WLAN (Wireless Local Area network) and its components: The task of developing a WLAN on commercial front possesses a greater challenge. Developing initial design, purchasing and installing components, managing and providing maintenance to the systems are the main basic parts of the WLAN. When we use WLAN on a commercial front then we may face the security and privacy concerns. The total area of that particular commercial area should be accessible. This is only possible with installing huge number of access points. The various components of the WLAN are
a) Wireless LAN NIC (Network Interface Card)
b) Access points
Wireless LAN NIC (Network Interface Card): Wireless LAN NIC is card that helps the devices to get connected to the WLAN. Today the systems are built with the Wi-Fi certified NIC’s, they can operate with any of the access points as well as the WLAN. There are some vendors who include NIC’s with additional features so that it can operate with the other networks as well.
Access points: “The 802.11 Basic Service Set and Extended Service Set configurations require an Access
Point (AP) that acts as the base station for the wireless LAN”. (Finneran, Michael.) Newnes, (2007. p 50).
The access points is again divided and it constitutes of components, they are radio transceiver, the logic in order to generate the LAN protocol and wireless LAN interface. The access points that are used for the commercial purposes are different than the access points that are used for the residential purpose.
Some of the differences are that the commercial a...

Various access points are provided, if one of the access points fail then it is easy to get connected to the other access points and stay connected to the network. Flexibility, Network customizability, Instantaneous chargeability are some of the benefits of using this technology. WLAN at airports help the passengers to have an easy communication and stay connected with the world. “The Tourism Agency believes that as one of its national tourism promotion measures, the new Wi-Fi service will improve the convenience and competitiveness of airports and other facilities for travelers while leading to greater travel demand” (Airport news Japan http://en.airportnews.jp/headline/365/ ), thus it implies that the airports like Haneda will have a competitive and strategic advantage over other airports.
WISP is the next generation of wireless internet and the leader in wireless technologies for tribal community, school, business, and entertainment. The new WISP business will employ top of the line products and provides exceptional technical and unmatched services exceeding those of traditional service providers, such as Comcast, AT&T, and Direct TV. The tribal WISP will enable people in rural communities to be connected to mainstream media and level the playing field. This, in turn, will provide economic development opportunities and will improve their quality of life for the Tachi Yokut

Analysis of the Environment of the Mobile Network System Executive Summary 3 Glossary of Abbreviations 4 Introduction 5 Recent History
This proposal is for a small office that will have users who are connected by Wi-Fi or cable. The network will include devices and resources that is shared among all the users. The network will need to have security measures in place to protect the entire network and keep the wireless access secure and available only to employees of the company.
LAN is built in with inexpensive hardware such as Ethernet cables, network adapters and hubs. Special operating system is also be used to configure LAN. Microsoft Windows provide software package called Internet Connection Sharing(ICS) that support controlled access to LAN resources. IP “class A” LAN can accommodate more than 16 million devices organized into subnets.
For mini project of this subject, I choose to analyze performance management of different Wi-Fi based on context Wi-Fi service provided in my house area which is SriPuteri WifiNet. To analyze the performance management, I have to identify the problem statement, scope and method to use. In Local Area Network (LAN), although multiple device such as PC, laptop, mobile phone and many more can connected to Wi-Fi but as the increasing of device used, the network can become slower because of data traffic congestion. To overcome the problem, it is essential to have a good Network Management plans.
Wi-Fi (Wireless Network) or 802.11 networking is a phenomenal way of providing Internet wirelessly at a low cost. Using radio waves, a wireless network connects a PC, mobile phone or just about anything that connects to the internet wirelessly by a router. By transmitting signals at 2.4 or 5 GHz it allows the waves to transmit more data at a faster rate. Typical Wi-Fi standards are 802.11a, b, g, n, or ac and they can switch up the frequency depending on the model (Brain). Families can create their own wireless network that can be shared between family members without the use of hooking all their devices up to the modem and can also protect their home network from potential hackers with the use of a TKIP or AES encryption. Businesses can also create a “hotspot” which is an area that has wireless networks for free or at a set fee. This is extremely convenient for commuters that need internet access while they are at work, waiting on a plane, or just sitting at a coffee spot without the need for wires(Cox).
When looking at wireless communications, there are many standards to discuss as there are so many types all used for different purposes. I am going to talk about a range of communications used for different ways to communicate; for example Bluetooth can be used to send files between mobile devices. Cellular broadband, which is used on mobile phones and tablets to be able to access the internet while out of reach of a Wi-Fi signal. I will also look at satellite, which can be used to provide Internet to remote areas and Wi-Fi which is widely used to access Internet and local networks without having to have a physical connection. I will finally assess WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) that is used to provide Internet over a large distance.
Airports are vast facilities covering many acres of land where passenger beginning the flight portions of their travels. The first flight by the Wright brothers in Kitty Hawk, NC in 1903 only required a runway. As the technology of flight advanced to offer passenger service, there was soon a need for a building to manage passenger needs. Airports of today provide many key services needed for the traveler whether they are beginning, transferring, or ending their journeys. The demand for air transportation rises each year, according to the Department of Transportation (United States Department of Transportation, 2013) 815.3 passengers traveled by airplanes in 2012. With the demand expected to rise, airports must be able to keep pace with services. There are many different services provided however, this report will discuss terminal design, baggage handling, and ground access.
Local Area Networks also called LANs have been a major player in industrialization of computers. In the past 20 or so years the worlds industry has be invaded with new computer technology. It has made such an impact on the way we do business that it has become essential with an ever-growing need for improvement. LANs give an employer the ability to share information between computers with a simple relatively inexpensive system of network cards and software. It also lets the user or users share hardware such as Printers and scanners. The speed of access between the computers is lighting fast because the data has a short distance to cover. In most cases a LAN only occupies one or a group of buildings located next to each other. For larger area need there are several other types of networks such as the Internet.
In addressing the problem, the proposed research will use the case study method to examine the plan, design, and implementation of WLAN technologies at Berean. At present, the non-wireless local area network (LAN) technologies employed by Berean include 10/100BaseT Ethernet at each desktop. Ethernet ports at the desktop are switch connected to an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) T1 backbone. Berean¡¦s one remote facility connects to the network using switched Frame Relay services along with Internet Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections.

Wireless is everywhere today whether at home working from your WIFI network to work where you might be linked a wireless network or even through your phone through a 3G or 4G network to connecting to an open wireless networks. As you can see for the most part people are connecting to wireless from the moment they leave their home till they get to work and then back. While wireless comm...
