Hamlet: Act 2 Scene 2 - Compare Hamlet's Reaction to Arrival of Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern and To the Players
Compare Hamlet's reaction to the arrival of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern with
his reaction to the arrival of the Playyers. Account for his reactions.
By comparing Hamlet's reaction to the arrival of Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern with his reaction to the arrival of the Players, we can observe
the different perspectives of Hamlet's character. His reaction to the arrival of
his old friends is similar to his reaction to the arrival of the Players in as
he is happy to see them all and he reveals his sanity to them all. When
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern arrive, Hamlet is overjoyed to see his "excellent
good friends" (2.2.227) with whom he grew up. Hamlet is also delighted to meet
with the Players. But this is where all the similarities end. In his
conversations with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, Hamlet becomes suspicious of
the purpose of his old friends' visit and he is perceptive enough to see through
the outer disguise into the interior motives. He forces them to reveal that they
have been sent by the King to find out what is causing Hamlet's "transformation"
( 2.2.5). Hamlet admits his sanity by telling his good friends that his "uncle-
father and aunt mother are deceived." (2.2.348) Why does Hamlet admit his
sanity to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern? Is it an another attempt to at deception,
or is it to implant a sense of trust between Hamlet and his old friends? Hamlet
could possibly be furthering his plans for revenge by admitting his sanity.
Hamlet's friends would relay the message to the King and Claudius may think that
Hamlet really is mad for admitting that he was supposedly feigning madness. On
the other hand, at the conversation with the Players, his behavior is
spontaneous. He welcomes his "good friends" (2.2.431) and it seems that he is
"glad" (2.2.430) to see them again. He is friendly, funny and very open in his
communication with the Players. Hamlet notices that one of the young players who
plays female roles has grown a beard and he makes a joke about it. It also
indicates that Hamlet has known them for a long time. The young Prince Hamlet
also demonstrates his sanity when meeting with the Players. Hamlet shows that he
is still capable of reasonable thought when he recites the lines to a play that
he has heard only once. Hamlet reestablishes his friendship with the Players and
shows his sanity to the Players so that he can further his plan for revenge.
My so called friends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern whom I know from Wittenberg were invited by my mother and Claudius to spy on me because they were concerned with my behavior and my apparent inability to recover from my father’s death. Claudius wasn’t only worried about me but also worried that Prince Fortinbras’s would attack Denmark thankfully he only asks if his armies could be allowed safe passage through Denmark on their way to attack the Poles. Relieved to have averted a war with Fortinbras’s army, Claudius gives him permission to only pass by. When I saw my friends have arrived I asked why they came to visit they lied and said just to see me I knew my mother and her king were behind this so I didn’t worry much
transformed from the "hog" he was into an actual man, but I believe this story
During the late 16th century and into the 17th century, European nations rapidly colonized the newly discovered Americas. England in particular sent out numerous groups to the eastern coast of North America to two regions. These two regions were known as the Chesapeake and the New England areas. Later, in the late 1700's, these two areas would bond to become one nation. Yet from the very beginnings, both had very separate and unique identities. These differences, though very numerous, spurred from one major factor: the very reason the settlers came to the New World. This affected the colonies in literally every way, including economically, socially, and politically.
...is interactions with his wife are filled with tension and he is saddened when he reflects upon the men lost during war and the death of his brother.
Although the New England and Chesapeake regions of the United States were both settled by the English in the 1600s, they developed into two very different communities based mainly on their geographical location and religious devotion. Unlike their European rivals, the English founded colonies in North America.
Voting is one of the citizens’ rights living in a country. In the past, not everyone can vote. Voting used to be for only white American men. However, our ancestors fought for that rights. Eventually, any American who are older than eighteen can vote, despite their race or gender. In addition, voter turnout is used to keep track of the voting. It is the percentage of eligible voters who cast a ballot in an election. Unfortunately, the voter turnout has been decreasing over time, and it means that there are less and fewer people who actually show up and vote. This essay will discuss the voter turnout in Harris County, Texas.
'Hamlet ', one of William Shakespeare longest and finest piece of literary work. Hamlets play hones in on characteristics such as, sadness, madness, insanity, morbidity, and mortality. While many scenes depict many of these characteristic’s if not more than one, Act 5 Scene 1 is renownedly known for exhibiting all five of these characteristics in just a few paragraphs. With Shakespeare’s writing technique imagery, repletion, and metaphors expressed throughout this scene, it allows for the reader to receive a clear image of what is going through Hamlets mind.
Act 3 Scene 4, so called the closet scene, is the first time we see Hamlet and Gertrude together alone. In this scene Hamlet releases his anger and frustration at his mother for the sinful deed she has committed i.e. her marriage to her brother-in-law and the murderer. We can see that Gertrude is unaware of her husband's murder when she says `As kill a King?' and it is the first time she confronts her own behavior. There is a conflict between the two; Hamlet gives powerful replies
Hamlet’s first soliloquy takes place in Act 1 scene 2. In his first soliloquy Hamlet lets out all of his inner feelings revealing his true self for the first time. Hamlet’s true self is full of distaste, anger, revenge, and is very much different from the artificial persona that he pretends to be anytime else. Overall, Hamlet’s first soliloquy serves to highlight and reveal Hamlet’s melancholy as well as his reasons for feeling such anguish. This revelation in Hamlet’s persona lays the groundwork for establishing the many themes in the play--suicide, revenge, incest, madness, corruption, and mortality.
Nowadays, the debate that cigarettes should be illegal and banned has become a popular topic. If they are banned, it will bring some negative problems and positive effects. What will happen if cigarettes are banned? Firstly, once smokers stop smoking immediately, their body will get a lot of bad conditions, especially for their digestive, respiratory, circulatory systems and cannot sleep well. Secondly, if smokers can’t stand anymore, they will find new way to instead of cigarettes and lead to more seriously problems. So it easy cause obesity, drug crimes and even smokers try to smuggle cigarettes and lead to black market. And then the government and related personnel will reduce the income. At last, however it also bring benefits for people
America’s low voter turnout has been attributed to by the political parties’ failure to enliven the potential voters with the awareness and competitiveness in elections and the overall difficulty of the registration and voting process. The research portion of this project was predominantly provided from four books focused on voter turnout, whether it was perceived to be increasing or decreasing. The article used was found using one of the books and altogether the sources provided analytical and institutional perspectives on American voter turnout. I believe voter turnout, along with voter registration is steadily declining in America due to multiple factors, though the topics touched on above are largely impacting us today.
The way we see ourselves is often reflected in the way we act. Hamlet views himself as different to those young nobles around him such as Fortinbras and Laertes. This reality leads us to believe that over time he has become even more motivated to revenge his father's death, and find out who his true friends are. How can you be honest in a world full of deceit and hate? His seven soliloquies tell us that while the days go by he grows more cunning as he falls deeper into his madness. This fact might have lead Hamlet to believe that suicide is what he really wants for his life's course.
One may argue the main reason to ban cigarettes is not because it hurts the smoker, rather ban cigarettes due to secondhand smoke. Whenever one thinks of secondhand smoke, they think about the big cloud of smoke coming out of a smokers lungs, but this is not what they should be worried about. The smoke that has come out of the lungs has gone through the filter of the cigarette and been filtered through the lungs, the smoke coming from the lit end of the cigarette is what one should be worried about. This smoke is directly releasing the chemicals in the cigarette therefore not being filtered first which does make somewhat of a difference.
They would save more than one billion dollars per year and the death rate would also decrease if smoking was banned. About 33% to 50% of people who try smoking become regular smokers and 70% to 90% of people who are regular smokers are addicted to nicotine. It is as addictive as heroin and cocaine. Children who are curious or already influence by family members smoking would want to try it out and when they see other people doing it, they accept it as some normal behavior and most likely would become addicted to it. Smoking kills more people than human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, traffic accidents, murder, suicide, and firearm-related incidents combined. Also smoking should absolutely be banned from public places since second hand smoke cause’s health problems as well. I should be able to sue the person because he/she is harming my life. Thus smoking should be banned because it causes so many problems to health whether it is to the smoker or to the second hand
Cigarettes too have many health risks, but that does stop people from enjoying them. Things such as an early death, heart attacks, lung cancer, throat cancer, mouth cancer, and even more prove that health risks aren’t enough to stop the people from using them.
