A salon is not always a pretty and peaceful sight for those working there. At times, a client may have a disaster going on whether it’s with their skin or hair. A disaster meaning skin infestations, crusty skin because of burrowing mites, or matted, tangled and damaged hair or even a burned scalp. Sometimes, an emergency is brought into the situation because of the hair stylist or makeup artist themselves. At a salon or barber shop, accidents aren’t common but they do occur scarcely. A worker may accidently buzz too close to the skin or cut hair close to the ear. Skin infestations are probably the worst thing employees deal with because of so much damage that has been done and so much that has gone without the client’s own …show more content…
An employee never knows when they will receive a client who’s just one big bundle of contagiousness. A terrible example of one common skin infection is the mite infestation known as scabies. A well known shampoo substance a lot of dermatologists and salon people use when they see scabies infestations on the skin and hair is Lindane shampoo. Another condition associated with the integumentary system is impetigo. This skin condition is mostly seen in children. This condition of the skin is very easy to diagnose and is usually done with the doctor just looking at the patients affected area. The doctor may take a piece of the sore and send it to a lab to get a clearer diagnosis of impetigo.. impetigo ia contagious and can be spread by sharing towels and close contact. It also can be spread by scratching. The symptoms of impetigo are small red bumps around the mouth and nose area. Blisters and crusty sores are also symptoms. The treatment for impetigo is antibiotics. In a mild case of impetigo antibiotic ointment or cream is prescribed. In severe cases the doctor prescribes antibiotic pills to the patient.
Hair is considered one of the components of the integumentary system, along with the skin, nails, glands and nerves. Mammalian hair has many functions including protection from environmental factors and the ability to disperse sweat gland products such as pheromones. Almost every part of the human body is covered by hair except for the palms, hands and bottoms of the feet. On average, every person has about five million hairs; each of these hairs is born from a follicle or tiny tube-like structure that grows into the dermis layer of the skin. Oftentimes this follicle even reaches the subcutaneous layer, which is made of fat and connective tissue. (UXL Complete Health Research, 2001)

After the investigation of what Ultrasonic Peeling is and how it works, I will also state my opinion on how well I think the treatment benefits its users, give my evaluation if I would consider using it, what I think the positives and negatives are and in scenario, assess whether it is a treatment that more salons should consider offering.
