I would have to start by saying, I would hope no responsible adult would come to my office to ask my permission to miss a staff meeting for a hair appointment. As an administrator I would set clear expectations pertaining to meetings and other requirements outside of normal classroom responsibilities. With that being said I know things happen and emergencies arise, therefore they would be handled on a case by case situation, however in doing so I would demonstrate fairness. The same teacher can’t come to me each time there is a staff meeting and asked to be excused for example for child care reasons. In such a situation I would let remind the teacher that the meeting calendar was posted at the start of the school year as well as reminders

I have set up to have two separate meetings, one for teachers and one for students. I want to be able to open up my program to students of every age, gender and ethnicity. The more students I am able to educate that is one less student who can possibly suffer from back pain. I would conduct these weekly meetings in the sports medicine lab where I will have the team member of the club lead the activities. I will also ask speakers from different backgrounds with knowledge on back pain come visit. Because of the young population I want the weekly meetings to be informative but fun. That being said there would be different things throughout a whole year that I would want to address. These include, sports in relation to back pain, how to use correct posture in sports and at school, exercises and stretches to reduce back pain, and why use of good posture is important. My school does not have an agreed-upon approach to classroom management or discipline program to be upheld throughout the school. The principal and I are new this year. He has a philosophy of not micromanaging individual classroom rules or grading practices. The only request he has is to have clear and concise classroom rules and individually hold students accountable for those rules. They need to be clearly posted and discussed at the beginning of the semester, so there is no further discussion or questioning of classroom procedure. When a teacher is clear and consistent, students get into the routine. I personally really enjoy being able to manage my individual classroom as I see fit.
