Gutter guards are an attractive option for people whose homes are frequently inundated with leaves and windblown debris.
Cleaning gutters is time consuming, and among the least enjoyable chores around the home, but it is also dangerous.
Falling from heights while cleaning gutters is not an uncommon accident, the risk of this happening is greater in certain conditions, like in high winds, or icy conditions.
When researching gutter guards it is useful to know that they may be referred to by a number of names, such as leaf guards, gutter covers, and gutter screens. These all refer to the same product.
Gutter guards are designed to prevent debris from entering gutters, and clogging drain spouts, and come in five basic designs.

Covers are installed over the gutter, and limit the amount of water flow.
Gutter screens do not usually last as long as covers.
However, if appearance is a large factor, screens are more discreet than covers, as they are relatively low-profile, whereas covers are situated over the gutter and are quite visible.
Despite prevalent beliefs to the contrary, gutter guards do require maintenance.
To maintain proper function, it is important to occasionally clean the screens or covers. However, they require less attention than uncovered gutters, and are typically much easier and less time consuming to clean.
Virtually all gutter guard designs will succeed in preventing leaves and large debris from entering and ultimately clogging the gutter.
Although, small debris such as small pedals, seeds, and fine evergreen needles are usually able to enter through the guards.
Consequently, the effectiveness of gutter guards is largely dependent on the installation process.
For example, gutter guards that are installed at an angle equal to that of the roof line will prove significantly more efficient than those that are
Germans used Gable roofs with hoods in building their dwellings. Germans used hoods, or abbreviated roofs, to protect the people walking, from rain, and helped with the removal of rain from the roof. Dutch settlers built their homes using intricate, stepped gables.
An additional assessment concern is roof flashing. Roof flashing is a line of defense against water leakage. Usually water flashing barriers are composed of a sheet of metal, galvanized steel or aluminum, that is positioned over the joints in the roof and wall construction to stop water from seeping inside the home. A frequent cause of significant water damage to a residence is malfunctioning roof flashing.
A screened enclosure can give your home, or business area, an increase in value when sell time comes.
One of the “cons” of wind power is that it compromises Vermont’s natural look—its famous scenery, especially along ridge lines. http://www.macalester.edu/windenergy/. But many people think that towers can be considered part of Vermont’s new scenery–a look that says that we care about the Planet. And there are good planning and mitigation strategies that can minimize the scenic impact. http://www.scenic.org/issues/scenic-easements-a-view-protection/wind-energy
Those who want a home that doesn’t look like everyone else’s house may select a saltbox. Although getting the roof trusses correct can be complex, the basic saltbox design is simple and strong. It fits in well in most environments. The roof can usually be insulated easily to reduce heating or cooling cost.
Some drip edge landscapes are designed with pavers or bricks. When water drips off your roof, it lands in the crushed stone opposed to mulch. A drip edge provides protection against water by directing water away from your foundation. The edging is typically commercial grade metal, either aluminum or steel, is affixed deep into the ground. Plastic is not recommended.
Green roofs, also known as living roofs, eco roofs, roof terraces or roof gardens, are a roof design of a building that is partly or entirely enclosed with vegetation and growing medium, therefore, the roof is planted over a waterproofing membrane and it has extra layers, for instance roof fence and drainage. He and Jim, (2010) states that green roof require the making of vegetated space on the top of artificial structures design. They can help to reduce the thermal properties of buildings to produce cooling energy conservation and increase social comforts. There are two main types of Green Roof-Intensive and Extensive.

It covers more horizontal than vertical space. The benefit coming from that is that you won’t need to think of low-hanging branches that may tear the fabric. You may place these units side by side too in case there are others with you.
Wind turbine blades are shaped to produce maximum power from the wind at the minimum cost [8]. Wind turbine blade consists of mainly of two components-
One side of wind turbines are that the Wind turbine farms are located in areas where people live. Some people think wind turbines are visual pollutants. The wind is unpredictable and never really constant, therefore it’s not reliable source for energy. If the wind is not blowing, they will not generate power. Just like Solar panels, wind turbines are not c...
Each one of us has their own opinion about what wind turbines do and not what they are actually meant for. Wind turbines are meant to be an energy saving method that can be used ...

Public safety covers a wide variety of people and organizations, but carries one common theme and that is, the public’s safety. This course has broadened my knowledge on the many roles that make the public safety sector go around and the role the public plays in it as well. My thoughts before the course were close minded and to the point. I quickly realized that policing is not as cut and dry as I once portrayed it to be. Society is always changing and adapting, and it is the job of the those in public safety to adapt and change with it. The mindset that I grew up with, in rural Saskatchewan, was the police are good people and you will only need to deal with them if you break the law or see someone break the law. My answers in the module 1 survey reflected my upbringing. My first thought for
A security guard works in any building or area that needs protection from theft, fire, vandalism, and illegal entry. For every security guards job it depends on where they live and work. Every security guard has a different task. Some work in airports. If you work in an airport you might have to search travelers for weapons, explosives, or drugs. They may have also check cargo for illegal items. There are security guards that work museums and art galleries. These security guards have to make sure no one steals, damages, or touches artwork or historical artifacts. They also help people if they have questions and bring people to safety in case if there is a fire or an earthquake. In office buildings and factories, security guards have to make
