Today in the U.S there are a lot of violence and it has risen significantly, this would decrease if guns are banned. According to BBC (2016), 60% of murders were caused by firearms. If guns are banned the level of crime in the U.S will decrease unquestionably. and there will be less violence and a reduction in deaths. Another, reason why guns should be banned is because then there will be a decrease in the amount of shootings. It would be easier for the police since they don't have to worry about guns. Can one believe that 13,286 people were killed because of guns. This is extremely horrific for the citizens of the U.S. Why would someone want to live in a country where there are so much gun violence. Every person want to live somewhere …show more content…
that is safe and if guns are not banned then no one would want to live in the U.S. Less people will immigrant to the U.S. According to Jacobson (2012) the U.S takes in 1 million immigrants each year which is more than any other nation. If this violence continues then this will drop dramatically and this could affect the economy of the U.S. All of this means that guns should be banned because it will affect the U.S in the long run into the future. This will reduce the amount of violence and would benefit the citizens that live in the US in many ways such as; feeling less fear and more safe. Therefore, the U.S needs to find a way to secure their country. In the U.S many people live in fear of being a victim of gun violence.
It has been proven that many U.S citizens are scared of becoming a victim of gun violence. They are scared of losing loved ones for no reason but to the violence of people with guns. If guns are banned there will be a definite decrease in fear of Americans. According to Newport, 2017 4 out of 10 people in the U.S fear of being a victim of gun violence. As one can think, this is no easy thing to think about. As one, think of the people in the U.S how they will feel about this. How about if you were a mom and letting your son go to the park or walk to school by themselves. All of these factors why parents don’t let their sons/ daughters is because of fear. Who wants to be a victim of a violence related crime involving guns. Recently in Toronto on Monday April 22, 2018 there was a van attack. Also information released by CNN saids that 10 people died in this van rampage attack on a sidewalk. Allegedly when he was face to face with an officer he had something in his and, but later the police confirmed that it was only a cell phone. Look at this event. People in Toronto must have felt feared after some guy kills 10 people by driving a rented truck into bunch of innocent pedestrians . In the U.S it’s the same thing. This event that happened in Toronto was not preventable. Anyone could just drive a car and kill random people if he wanted to. A kid could just go and buy a gun. This is why many people are …show more content…
feared in the U.S because for them guns are not controllable. So if guns are banned people will feel less feared and the U.S will be more safe. The U.S currently isn’t the safest place right now but is all due to one factor and that is guns which promotes violence, as well as fear.
The U.S is the 5th safest country in the world out of 160 countries according to safearound.com. But why is the U.S not the same as Canada which is ranked 8th out of 160 countries. The main reason is that it’s not safe It is all due to guns but the government doesn’t take any actions this will continue and the U.S will continue to drop to the bottom of the list out of all the countries since their is so much violence. People are always pushing towards the government that they need help since they can’t do anything. People can’t change the rules of their own country they live in they can only ask by protesting or writing a letter. If the government take action it would help the people and the government itself. According to
CBS News (2016), Americans are ten more times likely to be killed by guns than people in other developed countries. But this proofs that even though they are the 51th safest country in the world they still need to improve on their gun control. Can one think that in the U.S there is enough guns of every man, woman and child according to BBC (2016). Why would someone want to have a mass productions of guns for everyone. It would make the whole country uncontrollable. The government need to realize that if they let this happen in the future the U.S is going to become a
disaster. Many citizens think that guns should not be banned because they think that it would be a good tool to use as self defense. People think this is a great idea to use guns. In addition, it’s just causes more problems. In 2016 there were 495 incidents of accidental firearms deaths in the U.S (www.aftermath.com). This shows that just having guns just has a greater impact of deaths by firearms each year in the U.S. Letting people have their own guns is not going to workout, why would someone want to die just because someone else killed you for thinking you were a intruder or robber. How would a family feel if their loved one got killed because of other person who had a possession of a gun? It would be devastating, and when the police come and take the suspect to court, he could be free if the rule that he used the gun for self defense appropriately. Secondly, some believe that banning guns won’t do anything as for safety. Many think that robbers and other thieves will use knives or any other weapons to kill people. Many people think this is true but it is actually false. If guns are banned there will be a reduce in crime. According to BBC 40% of murders were caused by other weapons but not guns. This itself shows that it false that banning guns will not benefit the crime level of the U.S. If guns were to be banned it would benefit everyone starting with the citizens to the police and finally the government. It would save the government a lot of money rather than spending money on your police to control gun violence. In addition, some may think that people will still somehow acquire guns even though they get banned. But is is false. In Japan the level of crime is very low. The deaths caused by firearms are really slim. It’s really tough to acquire a gun there anyways. This even proves that banning guns can have a benefit of the safety of the U.S. Even though one may believe that banning guns won’t do anything in the long run, it would benefit the U.S and make it a stronger, safer and more friendly place for the citizens. It has been clearly proven that countries that ban guns have a decrease in violence, safety level increased and the number of people feeling feel fear has decreased. Even though there is a debate that the effectiveness of this ban will lack the safety for the citizens of the U.S. Safety is not about can be completely safe or not. It’s about living in a place that is safe enough for one to live in. In the U.S we need to consider how to decrease the violence and make the citizens feel less fear as well as making it a safer place by banning guns which will make the U.S more secure as for safety.
Guns can only cause more violence and dead. Having a guns in the house is more likely cause accident dead to family member. Most victims die are young people and children, today young people are reckless they do everything even use guns for toy. Everyday TV and Newspaper are talk about people injury or even die from guns accident. Not only guns violence to human society, wild animal are getting hunt to extinct by hunter. People are using guns for wrong reasons, that why guns should be ban and limit to what people can
Countless individuals across the world are fighting for: freedom, religious convictions and more commonly for their children future. The devastating attack that had happened in Sandy Brook Elementary School in America that led to few deaths and injuries of youths. Which makes individuals question is educational institutes even a safe place for children. Additionally, there are more shootings in America compared to other nations as Gopink states “ United States has more gun violence than other countries because we have more guns and are willing to sell them to madmen who want to kill people.”(Gopinak, 2007, p. 458 ). This demonstrates that United States is just not inclined to take any action on gun control which is leading to deaths of children and adults. Some individuals believe handguns are not needed in American 's society. Then those who oppose gun control argue guns are a necessity to: hunting in the wild, self-defense, and it is part of the American culture. Furthermore, gun violence is having a vast impact on loved ones; losing a family member can have enormous affect socially, physical and mentally.
Imagine... you are driving down the street to see your loving family. You stop at a gas station and a guy comes in. He has a bandana and bad intentions. All of a sudden, he loads a pistol and aims it towards you. What are your options? Try to visualize, a guy going to see his wife and kids, but when out of nowhere a person pulls you aside and then points a pistol at you. Over the course of years, ninety-three United States citizens are killed with guns. Due to these reasons, it seems it is necessary to get rid of guns because of the 21,175 suicides, 505 deaths due to accidental/ negligent discharge of a firearm. Guns should be banned for civilian use, due to too many deaths from unregistered users, misuse, and increased crime rate.
Gun violence in the United States is higher than ever, and criminals with guns will “…kill as many as 1000 people each day” (Alpers&Wilson). Taking this into perspective, it is only right to fight fire with fire or, in this case, use a gun to protect yourself and those around you. Gun control does not only decrease the ability for protection, it also decreases our rights as U.S citizens. The constitution clearly states that we are given the right to bear arms, meaning we may carry fire arms. Even if we have stricter laws for guns, it will not stop killers from shooting innocent people. These men and women causing damage to the lives of numerous individuals do not care if there is a law banning guns, because all they truly want to do is hurt others. The pain citizens endure every day from losing a family member, friend, or even just a colleague is repulsive. These permanent deaths continue to make people fearful and it causes damage in their lives; unless something is done. Most people agree that action needs to be taken to stop this inhumane cruelty, but the question is; what can be done? Americans need protection, rights, and power to break this inexcusable gun violence circling America. Gun restrictions for trustworthy and reliable gun owners have not been proven to weaken gun violence in the United States; therefore, gun control should be limited because it is only hurting America, not helping it.
According to The Chicago Tribune “Close to 3,000 people have been shot in Chicago so far this year.”In 2016 chicago homicide rate was at an all time high, last year there have been reported 762 people died from gun violence,”3,550 shooting incidents, and 4,331 shooting victims.”Hundreds of people have died from gun violence every year and also a portion of the murder rate is made up of innocent people that have also died from a firearm violence. Also in the united states the number of fatalities from a firearm were “33,594” according to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.I believe we should ban the use of firearms because the number of people that die or get injured from a firearm keeps dangerously increasing each year.
When looking at all of the important issues of today’s society, one of the most neglected issues revolves around guns. Guns serve two different purposes: to defend and to kill. Even though I’ve been on this Earth for only 21 years, I’ve become keen and have taken an interest in the study of guns and how they pose more problems in society than any other issue. My interest all started around the time of the Columbine shooting in Colorado and how society has taken steps since that point in history. Going back to the two different purposes, both have been used to help explain the differences in the distinctions of different gun related events that continue to occur, such as mass shootings. Problem analysis, as stated, will help to explain how guns can be seen differently from each individual and what can be gained or lost from a deep analysis.
The Reasons for the government attempting to ban the vast majority of firearms comes from all the violence that is caused using them. The government’s aim is to make a safer environment for the people. That is a reasonable goal, but most crimes are dealt using illegal firearms. Banning firearms most likely wouldn't cause much of a decline in gun related crime. Majority of the crimes are done by people who have had a prior past of criminal activity. Guns are not the reason for the violent crimes. The crimes are caused by the typical person with a violent past with them. Most people would agree that the firearms they have are used either for recreational activities or home protection in times of need. So they believe that without firearms, they are defenseless. Most will also tell anybody that the weapons aren't the ones causing the harm.
For many years, America has witnessed mass shootings within it’s borders. In 2015 alone, there were 372 mass shootings (Oldham). The question most Americans are faced with is: do we need more gun control or is gun control the problem? With more gun control, it can be made mandatory that protective devices are used on firearms to prevent accidental harm. Gun control creates mandatory laws such as the requirement for an individual to pass a background check before he/she is permitted to purchase a firearm. Gun control has also been proven to prevent suicides due to the increased difficulty of obtaining a firearm. Those who believe that gun control is the problem claim that by removing one 's firearms, you are endangering them to threats that
“It is estimated that there are 310 million non – military guns in America” (O’Brien and Stanton). Many people that own a firearm usually have more than one gun. Also, a majority of gun owners feel that owning a firearm is the best way to protect themselves at home. With the large number of guns said to be in America, there needs to be a way to prevent the number of frequently occurring mass shootings. The solution to this issue is called gun control. Gun control needs to be implied more in our society because gun related crimes are mostly committed by those diagnosed with mental illnesses, there is no contradiction with the second amendment, it has the ability to lower the amount of mass shootings in the United States, and universal background checks help prevent mass shootings.
The shootings that have happened in the schools throughout the Unites States over the past few months have created a great divide among Americans on what we should do as a nation to prevent further shootings from happening. Many people believe that imposing new laws on purchasing weapons by requiring background checks, holding adults responsible for the actions of their children and requiring gun locks on weapons to prevent children will stop these massacres in our school from happening. There are many issues that need to be looked at in order to decide which laws are necessary.
...he gun debate in America, has many people talking about how dangerous guns could be. Trying to avoid people to buy guns or eliminate guns would not help because guns could be brought illegally. Background checks would only work if the government makes the law stricter but since is not yet strict, then things will still remain the same. Instead, of making more laws, the government should let people carry guns with them because the gun could be used for protection. There could have been a possibility that in the San Bernardino shooting, the 14 individuals who died in the attack, could have survived if those individuals had a gun. Who knows where and when a shooting could happen? No one knows but the one who will commit the crime. That is why having more guns could reduce individuals to get injured or die in a shooting. Which means that more guns will equal more safety.
For years proposals for gun control and the ownership of firearms have been among the most controversial issues in modern American politics. The public debate over guns in the United States is often seen as having two side. Some people passionately assert that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to own guns while others assert that the Second Amendment does no more than protect the right of states to maintain militias. There are many people who insist that the Constitution is a "living document" and that circumstances have changed in regard to an individual’s right to bear arms that the Second Amendment upholds. The Constitution is not a document of total clarity and the Second Amendment is perhaps one of the worst drafted of all its amendments and has left many Americans divided over the true intent.
Guns have been the weapon of choice for some of the most brutal massacres on America soil. Since early history guns have been used mainly for militia and defense purposes. But, the development of new gun technology has made firearms more accessible and deadly. Although the second amendment gives the right to bear arms, guns should be controlled and monitored by the government because guns have contributed to a lot of killings in America and will increase crime rates.
Thirty-five per cent more likely to be shot to death than Canadians are to die of a fall” (Paperny, 2015). Gun control is a huge problem in the United States and I believe that only United States Marine Corps, Armed Forces, and Navy should have access to guns. I understand that Americans want to own a gun for their own individual protection reasons; furthermore we have police officers and military support for that sole reason of protection. Some people may say that if there were stricter gun regulations, less people would have guns, less guns would be shot and shooting rates would decrease. Additionally school shootings would not be such a prevalent problem. Furthermore, this idea is proven many times to be
If you’re a wise person, you would understand that guns kill. With no bans against guns, the murders and shootings that seem to be omnipresent in the US will not rest. According to a statistical analysis recorded by the American Gun Violence Archive, there are approximately 10,000 people killed by guns each year on average. This absolutely staggering figure purely displays the necessity for the banning of guns in the
