GUNPOWDER
This article is about gunpowder. But at first you need to know what's the materials of the gunpowder ? What completely change the warfare ? What can gunpowder do in the mine ? Studying "Gunpowder" with these questions , you will learn a lot in this article.
How to make the Gunpowder?
The Gunpowder consists of a mixture of saltpeter (potassium nitrate), sulfur, and carbon. (Calliope , 2011). Also the Chinese first set off fireworks to enliven religious celebrations. After centuries, they'd found the formula for what became gunpowder: potassium nitrate (saltpeter), sulfur and charcoal. (Britannica , 2011) We can use the Gunpowder to make Fireworks. Fireworks have the same basic parts. The starting powder catches

fire; the bursting powder causes the final explosion; and the quick match leads the spark of fire from one point to another. (Yates, Robin D.S. , 2007) Warfare People use Cold weapons like knives in the wars before, But the Warfare was completely changed after the invention of Gunpowder .
Almost every nations ARMY use Hot weapons like Guns . In China, many types of weapons that used gunpowder were developed. There were anti-personnel and anti-horse mines that would explode when stepped on or when a wire was tripped. It can stop the enemy. (Britannica , 2011)Horses have been replaced by motorized vehicles, especially tanks, but the principles of land warfare have undergone only one decisive change in the last several thousand years. This change was marked by the invention of gunpowder and its introduction into warfare by the 14th century. The difference gunpowder made may be best summed up in the word distance. Prior to the appearance of gunpowder, land battles were mostly hand-to-hand combat. (Britannica , 2011) While the Chinese are well known for inventions that have enhanced the daily lives of ordinary people, they were equally adept at designing new machines and products for use in war. (Britannica , 2011) Fireworks serve as the basis of many useful products. Railroad trains, trucks, and cross-country buses carry fusees, or red flares, which are placed behind stalled vehicles to avert collisions. (Yates, Robin D.S. , …show more content…
2007) At first, gunpowder didn't make much of an impact in Europe, which had to import Chinese ingredients, making it too expensive, said Bert Hall, associate professor at the University of Toronto's Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology.
"Killing would have been much more difficult," Levinson said. "It would have been a much more personal thing." (Britannica , 2011) Once they had broken through to the enemy tunnel, they would light a fire in the chambers and furiously pump the smoke down the shaft to gas the attackers--the first use of chemical warfare in the world, and it laid the groundwork for the later development of gunpowder and fireworks. (Brown, Peggy , 1999)
What can Gunpowder do in the mine
Gunpowder mixtures and smokes were also adapted for industrial uses such as mining and breaking rocks and for medical procedures such as cleaning rooms infected by disease. So Gunpowder can exploit the ore quicker (Britannica , 2011)
By the 15th Century, Europeans learned how to separate and purify saltpeter from manure, the main source of nitrate, starting "the era of the giant cannon. (Brown, Peggy ,

Before beginning about the history of ball bearing or bullet ball guns, which are referred to as BB guns in short, let’s take a quick peep at some of the most interesting facts about air guns:
History has proven the use of chemical weapons ranging back for decades. From the Greeks in ancient Europe using Greek fire to South American tribes using a form of tear gas made of grounded up hot chili peppers to scare away enemy tribes. As well as dipping the tips of spear heads with a poisonous toxin. Poisonous toxins used from live reptiles like frogs and venom from the snakes found from whichever region had enough potency venom to exterminate. The past has proven, that in order for Armies to survive and win, it relied on out smarting the enemy. New technologies and the evolution of weaponry were left to the brightest minds from those eras to develop.

In 1044 AD Zeng Gongliang and Yang Weide wrote a treatise called “Wujing Zongyao” or “Collection of the Most Important Military Techniques” in which several formulas for making powerful blasting powder with a large percentage of nitrate were contained. These experiments with and improvements of gunpowder formulas led to more powerful weapons, including bombs (Needham, Joseph (1986e), Science and Civilisation in China: Volume 5, Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Part 7: Military Technology; The Gunpowder Epic, Cambridge: Cambridge University
I believe that the environment deiced whether a society will or will not have technology, militaristic and farming abilities imbedded within the society. That will give an advantage so that one society is better equipped than others.
As a result of these two conditions, many more casualties were sustained. Add to that the lack of medical knowledge of disease and infection and the numbers truly began to grow. This paper provides an overview of the types of weaponry that was used during this time. Artillery generally falls into three basic categories: guns, howitzers and mortars. The main difference between them is the trajectory of the round fire.
Within World War I began a new age of warfare. As compared to previous engagements, the adoption of new weapons changed the way in World War I was fought. Not only did the concept of war change in terms of where battles were fought, how much revenue must be spent on the war and how much time a war could span; weapons changed. During the Indian Wars and War for independence, basic weapons were used. World War I began to become mobile. Use of planes, tanks and other technological advances had been implemented. The technological advances brought about were implemented within this war in an attempt to make the war last a shorter and to show prestige. Not only were mobile aerial and ground assets involved in war now, but other technology such as flamethrowers, machine guns and poisonous gas was also introduced.
There is nothing better then realizing that each indigenous people evolved into something better or that they found ways to survive in situations they weren’t use too. There were many changes that happened over time that cause for situations to change for everyone around them. But it also has helped with being able to progress with the way they lived. Jared diamond the author of Guns, Germs and Steel interpret his famous theory oh how we came to be. How the geography luck helped each country developed more rapidly than others as well as being able to expand more. However they also had geography luck when it came to how many advantages they had with the technology nevertheless, germs also was a big part of how the conquered most of the lands because it would kill instantly millions of european and
When in combat, both sides had the same kind of artillery. Soldiers used muskets and small handguns and generals on the other hand would ride on horseback with a sword and pistol. Another type of weaponry that was used were cannons. Even though cannons were much more powerful, muskets were easier due to the fact that they were portable and fired rounds quicker.
The Kansas City Gun Experiment was a study that took place between 1992 and 1993. The goal of the study was to examine if increased police patrol in a “hot spot” of the city would help to reduce the amount of gun-related crime. The data collected by the research team was solely quantitative as it mainly consisted of statistics and other data numerical in nature of the increase/decrease of gun violence in these beats. After the twenty-nine week period of the study, the experiment’s findings showed that an increase in police patrol, as well as seizure of illegally carried guns, did help to eliminate gun-related crimes.
What is the importance of the gun? The gun is one of the most important tools in the defense of our nation. Guns are responsible for a lot of death and injuries, but these things were going on before the existence of the gun. Guns aren't the reason for the death and injuries, they are just a means to it. They are tools and an engineering marvel of our age. The gun has evolved from a simple weapon that caused limited destruction to the modern gun that is so fast and powerful it is capable of mass destruction. Through the evolution of the gun, it has become a political tool.
Before 850 A.D, the most advanced achievements in weaponry and technology included the sword and shield. Chinese alchemists however, would change the world forever through their invention. In an early strive to find an elixir that sustained life, Chinese alchemists mixed sulfur and charcoal creating what is known as salt-pepper. When burned it was said that "smoke and flames result, so that the scientists' hands and faces have been burnt, and even the whole house where they were working burned down" (Whipps). This invention was later known as gunpowder, a creation that would revolutionize and create a new world. The effects that the creation of gunpowder in 850 A.D had on the world can be shown through the advancements in weaponry, technology, and the impact on culture.
The mine owners “worried.that the mines would have to be shut down unless water could be pumped out of the shafts.” “The engine successfully raised water from the bottom of deep mines.” (Siegel, 17) This saved the shutting down of the mines, which were essential to further the economy. Not only did the steam engine save the mines, it provided a method of mining that proved to be extremely quicker than the traditional techniques.
These kinds of weapons were impractical for military use, but attracted many people to the arms race for weapons that could sweep the battlefield. “They had limitations in practice, among them slow re...
Since the discovery of gunpowder by the Chinese, the world as we know it has made more efficient and powerful weapons. Throughout the history of warfare from the medieval times to present day, explosives have been used as an Offensive and Defensive weapon. When a castle or army was under siege the attacking army would surround the objective and cut off all supply lines and try to starve the enemy into submission. With the invention of gunpowder it made the siege obsolete. This was empowered by the cannon and other forms of field artillery, which allowed the objective to be overthrown quickly. Military grade explosives are used for benign reasons also. Within the past few years an emphasis has been placed upon demining war torn countries that are ravaged by unclaimed and unaccounted mines emplaced by the host nation. This action is being undertaken to make the countries safer for the citizens of those countries. Throughout history stalemates have occurred during war, Engineers or Soldiers with knowledge of explosives were called upon to end the stalemate. This essay will cover one such incident during the Battle of Crater and the siege of Petersburg, Virginia during the American Civil War.
